Spent my half budget (500$). Need strong advices and direction to achieve some succes
Hello everyone,
Quick Intro: I am an electrician, doing 500$ job. Dreaming of living my job if I will get success in affiliate marketing.
I have collected $1000 to try affiliate marketing and to find 1 profitable campaign first. Spent around 500$, not able to decide what to do next due to crazy variation in conversion.
Here is the all where and how I spent my 500$ in push traffic.
- My affiliate manager given me 3 best converting offers. 1. US sweep SOI 2. Germany sweep SOI 3. France CC
- I decided to go with SOI due to small budget.
- First offer I tested was iPhone sweep SOI (Germany), payout 2.5 USD.
I tested this offer using 5 Ad sets and 1 LP from AdPlexity. First I tested this offer on ZeroPark, 3 conversions after spending 100$. I thought I am doing something wrong. But after verifying my campaign and tracking setup with my affiliate manager, I found everything is alright. My affiliate manager suggested me to change traffic source, there is so much bot traffic or otherwise saturated traffic in this industry.
So I decided to go with PropellerAds. I tested same offer with two highest CTR ads used in ZeroPark. Targeting- High Activity and premium traffic only. After spending 60$ in three days, 0 conversion. I think this was due to traffic saturation not bot traffic.
- After watching episode of Erik Gyepes and Manu Cinca, I have decided to target only fresh subscribers(0-7 days) due to traffic saturation. For that I decided to go with Mobidea Push. I also decided to test 2 offers this time, I thought maybe offer caused the issue.
Offer 1: iPhone Sweep SOI DE
Offer 2: Walmart sweep SOI US
3 Ad sets and 1 LP for both offers.
Spend 20$ for each offer. This time results were promising: offer 1 ROI is -40% and offer 2 ROI is 0%, I was so happy.
I decided to run US Walmart sweep for more time to find top converting placements. After spending 80$, overall ROI was -20%. I found enough placements and decided to run whitelist campaign only. I launched new optimised campaign consisting only placements that given me more than 50% ROI. After spending 40$ on that campaign, damn only 1 conversion. Asked my affiliate manager if there is any problem on offer side, everything was ok on offer side.
I decided to try offers from another affiliate network.
Tested more 3 offers using same traffic source and also run whitelist campaign, result is same. Conversions are totally unstable, even whitelisted campaign are not performing. I am targeting only new subscribers, so traffic saturation should not be an issue.
Anyone facing the same? Please guide me how to go through this situation and I can find some success with my remaining $500 budget.
Thanks

You really should not do those 3 countries with that kind of budget and experience (Those 3 are top converting, prolly because some frodo managed to get them blackhatted on fb.)
Pick something in eastern europe / latam / asia / africa..
Countries that have a lower rape index*
*Rape index (Webster definition)
"An indicative value of how much users are exposed to affiliate promotions akin to fraud / scam, such as sweepstake offers. Rape index is a composite index consisting of: a) exposure time b) user's perception of scam, usually aligned with strength of country's consumer safety bodies c) computer literacy. Rape index is high in developed countries, where all 3 factors are high. On the other hand it is extremely low in non-developed countries. For beginner rapists it is recommended to learn raping in countries with low rape index, then slowly progress on the rape ladder. Beware: learning to rape in countries with high rape index, will get you raped. Rape index can also be used to measure quality of web traffic. Websites with low bookmarks and high seo traffic have a lower rape index, compared to websites with a lot of return visitors"

🤣 and he’s right about the geo’s I think. Thereby is push very unpredictable and hard to keep stable for while.
Still think with 500 dollar push is the best source...

You are right, but when I was asking for the best converting offers and GEOs, every affiliate manager giving me offer from Tier 1 countries only. But I got your point, my budget is less so I should stay with low Rape index countries.
Thanks a lot.

In my humble opinion, you need a higher starting budget. Starting with $1k, gives you very very little room for maneuver, even for pops or push. Especially so now that you're left with $500. Any kind of mistake can cost you to go bust now. Many guys think that with low budget you should test push/pop but yeah, its good to go if you just wanna get your hands wet and some conversions running to probably -50% ROI or breakeven at best. To learn the system to the point of profit, you need much more.
My suggestion is to not try this now, save up more money and in the meantime brush up on your knowledge on affiliate marketing, come back better equipped. But if you really wanna just get your hands wet, test out offers that have payouts less than $1.50 USD in tier 3 countries if those exist. You need to cut sources quick and aggressive, watch traffic like a hawk so you dont waste any extra money.

Another vote for moving to less expensive and competitive geos.
I mean, FR for example can work great with sweeps, but from some reason it's the CC submits that perform the best there, so if you were to test a SOI there, you'd be starting kinda shorthanded already. And going for cc sweeps that pay $20+ per conversion with a low budget, that's pretty much a suicide.
I decided to run US Walmart sweep for more time to find top converting placements. After spending 80$, overall ROI was -20%. I found enough placements and decided to run whitelist campaign only. This is quite typical for push, this traffic type is very volatile. When conversions tank all of a sudden, try to pause the campaign and relaunch it again in a day or two. Or try to make a new one with a different set of ads.
You are right, but when I was asking for the best converting offers and GEOs, every affiliate manager giving me offer from Tier 1 countries only.
The info from AMs can be very useful, but they do not know all the details in many cases. As johner mentioned, the traffic can be VERY different from one affiliate to the next, so what works for some people doesn't have to work as well for you. So don't ask for the best offers for all the traffic they have, try to mention the traffic type you're using and ask for suitable offers... or simply ask for the best offers in the GEO of your choice.

I have increased my budget to $800. I will pick offers from Tier-2 and Tier-3 GEOs only.
Thanks

Just ran a campaign in NL - iphone soi, used the same ads and landers I used for PL. Traffic source ProplerAds . The NL campaign CTR on ads was.... drum roll.. 0.03%

in PL is close to 1%
I am going to abandon ProplerAds and try zeropark or megapush in T2 for my next sweeps campaigns. Propler might be good but I think there is more traffic in zeropark.

Zeropark is really annoying about what they approve or not especially when you have to be agressive with sweeps campaign. Their approval time is just too long these day . More than 10 hours sometimes
Good luck

Dont jump the gun too early when judging traffic sources guys. For example for me, propeller was better than ZP, but then again, I know people who did way better with ZP.
When I started with push, I jumped away from megapush quite early due to the overspending and some quality issues, then moved over to propeller and ZP, then to richpush ... eventually it all settled down and I was able to reach profit with all of them.

First of all, We are working almost 100% with direct exclusive traffic and we have a bonus for STMers of 50$ on top of your first deposit. So give us a try when you get the chance.
The one major tip i can give you is: understand what user age group your mainly buying. Ask your account manager in propeller the exact user ages you are buying. From that you can know how to target better. The zones is all good and well, but each site has a user age group map that was collected and has different quality.
Second tip, try and understand your top converting creatives and duplicate them and make more of them. Open a bit more GEOs, have always something converting in the back. I know you have small budgets, but with SOI you can find gold after not a lot of spend.
