Hi guys one thing that i think i am having a diificult time to understand is when banner blindness kicks in. Let’s say you have a banner with an average ROi of 30% you run for several days and couple days in a row starts performing around breakeven or slightly negative. How do you undestand if it’s banner blindness that has kicked in or normal variance? What i mean is do you have some ground rules? For example if it underperforms for x numbers of impressions / payouts / days or something like that you pause it?
Since i opened this thread let me ask this one too about freq capping. I usually start at 1 per 24 hours and when i get the camaigns profitable increase it to 2-3 per 24 hours and works good till now. My AM at TJ told me that i should start at least with 3-4 per 24 hours when testing and possibly increase later. What do you think?
Thanks
@matuloo would be the more suitable person to provide guidance on your questions, but here are my tips regarding how to combat banner blindness (from when I was running adult before):
-Always be testing new images, new headlines, new angles, new everything.
-Take best-performing ads, and create different combinations of their images and headlines to generate more new ads. (Of course: Look for similar images and write similar headlines using angles you KNOW work.)
-Regularly pause the worst-performing ads.
-Regularly "revive" ads you've phased out 1-2+ months ago, by running some traffic to them to give them another chance. Some will start converting well again. (Not unlike how old fashion trends would make a comeback.)
-Rotate ads in batches. e.g. Alternate batches 1 and 2 daily.
The idea is to continue throwing-in new ads and phasing out worst ads, such that you maintain a good balance between profits and effort. Rotating ads in batches will delay banner blindness.
This is all I can think of for now.
