Newbie looking to make some money online! (40 day Tutorial)
Hey STM!
I'm finally making a follow along. I've been on the forum for about 6 months and haven't taken any action. But thanks to the $1 guide Vortex kicked me into gear!! At first I was waiting because I didn't have enough money saved up to start since everyone recommends about $1.5-2.5K, then my next excuse was the tools are too expensive and I was afraid to lose money.
I'm not going to let that hold me back anymore! I am starting with a less than ideal budget but I'm also a full time systems engineer for a telecommunications company in CA so I have a regular income to help me along the way.
A little about me, as I mentioned I'm a systems engineer for a telecom company full time. Before that I was an IT in the USCG. I love where I currently work but for the past 2 years I've been starting different "side hustles" with the hopes to scale them and take over my day job. I want to be able to work from a laptop and see my family more often (I live in CA, my family is spread out across the East Coast US).
My previous side hustles include:
-flipping on ebay/craigslist/facebook which was decent money - my specialty was electric dryers lol pick 'em up for free, paint them with $5 appliance paint, clean em out, and sell them for $120+
they usually only cost $5-25 for parts to fix --> I stopped doing this because it's a lot of driving around especially if your town(s) are very spread out
-I also started 3 Shopify stores which were unsuccessful. Tried to hop on the drop shipping train without the knowledge and lost a little bit of money (~2-3K) and realized I needed to learn more before I kept dumping money in it --> in all honesty I got caught up in the "instagram guru" BS where you just put 10 items on your store from aliexpress run a few facebook adds and you're making thousands per month! --> reality check.. this doesn't happen that easily anymore. I wish I knew about the ecom guides from this site when I was doing this!!
I started researching ways to make money online other than drop shipping and found CharlesNGO and STM and that's when I read as much as I could from this forum!
I'm stoked to complete this 40 day guide, and I'm taking this 100% serious to turn this into a solid 2nd income source (and hopefully in the future my main source!)
Enough of the rant lets get to it!
Day 1+2-8:
I completed all the tasks here. I'm approved on mobidea, Advidi, and waiting to hear back from clickdealer and gotzha. Click dealer asked for screenshots from other networks and traffic sources I've worked with, luckily I had some from the $1 Vortex guide so hopefully they see I'm serious and approve me.
Setup on pop ads and propellor ads complete
Voluum is also setup and domain name created
Chose 5 offers from mobidea, can't figure out how to pick offers on Adividi so I'm going to reach out to my AM and see if they can help me find pop/redirect offers to run there.
Should hear back from clickdealer and gotzha in a day or 2

Thanks for sharing your experiences and moreover for starting this follow-along!
The electric dryers idea is fascinating! Any way you could outsource the whole thing? And expand to include other appliances? Sounds like this could turn into a major source of income.
I'm also wondering whether your Shopify attempts could be tweaked - you may have been one step shy of success for all I know. If you'd like to revisit that business model, I really wouldn't mind doing a review of your sites and ads together. I'm not an expert by any means, but may be able to provide an objective viewpoint and make helpful suggestions.
And of course, I'll do my best to provide input on your journey through the 40-day tutorial.

Thanks Amy,
I'm going to focus solely on this tutorial for now because I don't have the
Shopify shops up anymore but thank you! Maybe I'll revisit them after I complete the tutorial.
The dryers business was actually really good money. Pretty easy to make $500 in a month because each unit flipped made $100 profit almost every time. I keep teetering on wether I should keep it going. I just flipped a set last weekend that I got for free for $400. I should probably keep this going to have a 3rd income source and use it to help fund my traffic now that I think of it lol.
The reason I never tried other appliances is because some of them are too involved. Refrigerators can be a pain when it comes to how to buy freeon and dispose of it. Stoves are harder to clean and paint especially, but could be done.
I never thought about outsourcing or what that would even look like honestly. Maybe I could have a delivery or pick up person this way I only have to do the fixing and painting. That would be nice

Day 9+10
I setup the tracking in Voluum for my Mobidea offer and built the campaign in propeller ads!
I'm still answering questions from Clickdealer about other networks I work with ect. I didn't have to look to hard on this forum to find out they're getting a little stricker with their approval process and requesting screenshot of other networks and traffic networks I've worked with. Hopefully they approve me soon.
Haven't heard anything from Gotzha and it's been 2 days. Going to wait until after the 4Th of July to reach out to them.
Currently just the 1 offer from Mobidea setup and running on Propellor Ads (after it's approved). Will check back on the 5th!

Propellor Ads suspended my account to verify payment :/ really puts a damper in my day because I was hoping to see some clicks from the campaign I setup but I have to wait.
Still haven't heard anything back from Gotzha or Clickdealer.

Very nice! Important thing is you're taking all the action you're able to. As a newbie, you will need to wait on networks etc. When you run volume, the tables will turn.
Also: The AWE conference is tomorrow so most networks will be in Barcelona over the next few days. Many are already there. I'm flying out later today myself. So do be patient.
In the meantime - perhaps talk to your friends / take out classifieds online and in the local paper to see if anyone could run some errands to keep that dryer business going?
Extra money you can put towards campaigns REALLY won't hurt!

As per your $1 Guide. I subscribed Mobipium, PopAds, PropellerAds and Clickdealer without any hassle. Clickdealer and
Mobidea and other AM supporting very closely to me and helping for profitable campaign and I have did which I sent you screenshot of my first day earning.
But it is not easy path, it has a lot of hassle which AMY point out his other post that nobody has facing like me.
I am very old man of 57 with IT background in Data Communication and Internet networking. Therefore, I know how to trouble shoot the problems, AMY.

Day 10 again...
So I finally got everything approved with propellor ads. There was a snag that set be back a few days with verifying the payment info but everything is resolved now.
I have 1 ad from Mobidea running on propellor ads and 1 from clickdealer.
The Clickdealer postback URL setup was a little different since mobidea and a little easier to use system by just clicking Voluum and entering the domain name but I believe I got it all setup correctly. Just waiting for the 2 $10 campaigns to run out. I saw 1 conversion on the mobidea campaign so far.
Question: Now that Voluum is building API intergrations with networks, does that change anything for the postback? Does the integration already setup the postback tracking or is that just wishful thinking? I figure that could be setup somehow with the API integration.

Days 11-16
Tons of information here. I've haven't updated this thread because I've just been reading and re-reading all the info.
Day 11 was a pretty good lesson on Voluum and how we're using and declaring tags. I feel more comfortable with the tags now when creating offer links.
Day 12+13 we're very straight forward. We're taking the information from our offer and implementing those restrictions and targeting parameters in the traffic networks. I was pretty familiar with pop ads from the $1 guide so I that went pretty smooth. Propellor ads is very similar but they do change the wording or flow of the setup a little different, just have to be sure to set everything correctly. No real snags.
Day 14+15 I swear I read this like 4 times over lol.. so many words. Vortex, we can't thank you enough for how descriptive this tutorial is, it really helps alot! I have a little bit of experience with html and css and have created my own website on my home server for the different tools I use and monitor (plex, webmin, openvpn server, etc) so I have the basics down. Never messed with javascript and I think I'm going to run through those code academy tutorials tonight. I understand what it does but never messed with modifying or creating any.
Day 16 chose to go with mobile sweeps and applied to 2 offers from Clickbank, one in GR and another in ZA (trying to get used to learning the 2 digit codes by heart hah). 1 iphone 1 galaxy
I'm excited to get to the real meat of this guide and I'll be back here in a day or 2!

The integration doesn't go that far yet but I think it's something we should look into now. I figure that could be set up somehow with the API integration as well
The one thing that can make your life easier for now is using our docs. Under this
link you'll find articles where we describe step-by-step how to do the configuration successfully with every aff network we're integrated with and a few others (
Mobidea,
Everad,
Leadbit,
MaxBounty,
Spicyoffers,
YTZ,
Clickbank,
Clickdealer,
Olimob,
AdCombo,
Addiliate,
Media500,
Leadreaktor,
CrakRevenue,
DirectAffiliate) so everything tracks correctly. All the parameters and tokens per aff network are there. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend checking it out,
also for setting up traffic sources!
I sent you a PM, please take a look. I really want to know what you think about it.

Thanks for all the compliments!
Regarding coding: If it helps to know, I'm very tech-challenged myself, and yet the little bit of coding knowledge I picked up was already enough for me to fix up landers. It's really not that hard once you've fixed up the first 20-30.
And if a lander looks like it may be too difficult to fix, just pick another one.
Once you've making good profits, you could hire someone part-time to fix up landers for you.
Looking forward to your next update!

Day 17
Picked some landers for my offers and dug deeper into some of the stats that adplexity gives us. Looks like propellor ads and android are the most profitable for the ads I'm going to be running. Not going to cut iphone off the bat but I think I have an idea where the optimization will end up on these ads so thats cool.
Day 18
Everything went fairly smooth here setting up the hosting and connecting all of that together. Ran into the error mentioned in the guide with the certificate when setting up the Cloudfront distribution, but was able to figure it out with the posts mentioned in the guide. Just had to skip the cname portion on cloudfront, complete the route 53 steps, then go back and add the cnames.
Didn't get a chance to read the explanation portion of the day 18 post so I'm gunna go back and read that today.
