Hi guys,
I have a question about pre-landers that have an email capture within them.
I have been seeing these lately. Where the prelander itself will ask to capture the prospect's email - and after it is entered it will send the viewer to the offer page where it will ask them again for the email.
What are your thoughts on this? Have you tried this and how have the results been?
I am guessing that the affilaite is capturing this to build an email list and monetize, but I also imagine the conversion rate on the offer page would go down since you're asking that person to enter their email again for a second time? It's another hurdle to jump through right?
Just curious what your guys thoughts are on this and what your experience has been for something like this?
This is something that there is no clear answer for. When I'm running such LPs personally, usually I get less leads on the "final" offer and in some cases, I've run into quality problems too. But I was able to make some extra $$$ by utilizing the emails later on.
On the other hand, even here on STM, there were several people who reported pretty much identical conversions with the "final" offers, while still collecting leads for themselves. So some people were apparently able to handle this better than I was... or it was related to the traffic I was running.
One way or another, it's worth a shot in case you have some means of monetizing the newly collected list.
I've been experimenting with various forms of opt-ins for a little while but haven't hit a big breakthrough yet.
Have been trying PDF magnets, discount codes, surveys, etc in exchange for their email before sending them onto the offer.
The thing that's surprised me so far is that the overall total conversions isn't radically different between running a standard affiliate funnel, but I think that's largely depend on the type of traffic and the offer you're running though, impulse buys&signups type offers vs not, etc.
Easiest way to find out is just to test yourself honestly, and signup for funnels you do seeing running.
Take a small portion of your traffic and test putting an email capture on the first page or alternatively as on an interstitial page between LP and offer. Don't even need to setup a real form or sequence to just test opt-in rates.
There are two uses basically. One is to capture email for list building and secondly to co join the user with multiple networks if i'm not mistaken.
