Targeting when using LAL? (4)

Hi there,

I am still very new to FB and my advertiser had given me LAL data that I can use for my campaign.

My question is this - I obviously create an adset with the LAL data but do I still need to do any sort of targeting with it? For example, specify the age/gender for that LAL adset and also do any interest targeting?

Or do I just create the LAL adset and just leave it without any targeting at all (e.g. all ages, all genders, no interests)?

Depends on what type of LAL it is.

If it's a purchase LAL, I'd just leave it as it is since you would have an age/gender breakdown anyways once you run ads . On the other hand, you can create new ad sets to split test interests/placements etc...

Thanks for the reply @scinider! Yes it is a purchase LAL so I just wanted to make sure I was doing it right. Initially I created separate adsets for each age group using the LAL but wasn't sure if that was the right approach - looks like I was wrong!

There's nothing wrong with testing age groups. just that I'd usually test them once I have a strong indication that a certain age group out performs the others after initial broad testing, or try different angles for different age groups.
