Hello everyone. Today we are going to share the experience of running traffic to the Flexumgel offer with push notifications from the MegaPu.sh ads network. We sorted different geos out and decided to test Italy - even though traffic in the country is not cheap, there is a lot of it. First of all, you need to know how to get to a conference hotel. You are lucky if you live in Prague but most part of the attendees are people from other cities and even countries and it's easy to get lost. TES 2019 Prague will be held in Vienna House Diplomat Prague and there are three ways to get there:

💰 EPG Bill is offering a free airport shuttle for arrivals on the 13th of September and also a free shuttle for departures on the 16th of September. This shuttle runs between Prague Airport and the hotel.

💰💰 If you arrive at the main railway station, the easiest way is to take the nr. 26 tram towards Divoká Šárka and alight at Dejvická. 20 mins, a few euros and you are there!

💰💰💰 Taxi. Uber is available in Prague but it's better to use their own taxi - Liftago (their app is available for Android and iOS). Also, we do not recommend using AAA taxis. Speaking about the average cost - it's about 1 euro per km.



The second thing you need to know in advance is where to live, right? Let's see what options do we have:

💰 If you want the trip to be pretty cheap, then book a hotel near the place where TES will be held. We have chosen three best options for you:

• Chic and Spacious Apartment- nice apartments just 5 mins walk from the TES venue. Your own flat for the days of the conference! About 200 euros for 3 nights. All taxes and wi-fi included

What general facts do we have?


Thailand is an upper-middle-income country in Southeast Asia with the lowest levels of unemployment (1.1% of the total population). Average monthly income is 442 USD per household. Which is not really much. That is why Thai people look for cheaper options of the things they need.

Moreover, the number of Internet users there grows really fast - every year it increases by 2-3 millions of people. Sounds like lots of potencial customers, huh?

Devices


Even though the average daily use of the internet via PC is bigger than via phones (5.30h vs 4h), don't let this fact deceive you. Phones has a big role in everyday life in Thailand. 67% (which is 2/3) of different online-transactions are made with mobile apps. Other 11% go to desktop. And remaining 22% are mixed approach (mobile and desktop).

Also, it is interesting that Android is much more popular than any other OS. It has about 58% of total usage. 26% are for Windows and only 13.5% go to iOS. Keep that in mind while targeting your audience.

Social life and Internet usage


First, we will check out what websites Thai people use more often than any others.

Google.co.th is definitely a leader. Then goes Facebook, the most popular network in this country. YouTube closes the top three. Twitter and Pantip (news and media source) are placed on 4th and 5th places.

Now let's look a little bit more deeply at social network usage in Thailand. At the user level, Facebook is the main social media platform in this country along with Line for messaging. Last week we decided to make special geo reviews for affiliates. As you know, it's very important to understand your audience and its needs, your profit depends directly on your knowledge about potencial consumers.

General info

So, Indonesia is the largest island nation, has around 130 active volcanoes, more than 700 languages and dialects... Wait, that's interesting but has nothing to do with affiliate marketing. We need more specific info

With more than half of the country already having access to the internet, it’s yet another country that will offer an amazing opportunity with demographic and geographic targeting, while also offering low-cost traffic in the process.

Also, keep in mind that Indonesia includes 34 provincies that have really different income. For example, in Jakarta GRP per capita is equal to $17K, in East Kalimantan it's about $11.7R and in Maluku it's only $1.7K. Where SimilarWeb gets data

SimilarWeb mainly gathers data from:

1. Direct reports of website owners.
2. Reports from internet providers, which services are used by millions of users.
3. Public sources. Technologies that have indexing mechanisms for continuous data scanning.
4. Browser extensions, that obtain information about visited websites without user identification (e.g. cookies)

Where SEMrush gets data

SEMrush analyzes traffic by using anonymized data collected from third-party partners as well. Then AI algorithms start processing the data. The algorithm accumulates the data and divides it according to the behavioral analysis of the common patterns of millions of users.

Over the last decade, SEMrush has introduced a few additional tools, that go far beyond competitors’ search positions and website traffic information. These tools also reveal how rivals operate in their PR campaigns, paid search, content marketing what techniques they’re using to enhance their social media presence, and so on. SEMrush tools are useful due to the algorithm’s ability to use the most appropriate data sources for different marketing spheres (e.g. SEO, SMM, PPC).

How the services were compared in terms of accuracy

Both SimilarWeb and SEMrush provide clients with tools for analyzing competitors, the number of leads on their websites and traffic acquired with the help of affiliate partners. Having access to the anonymized data given by Google Analytics allowed us to consider this data fairly precise. All we had to do is to compare reports obtained from SimilarWeb and SEMrush for the same websites to Google Analytics data. The main goal was to identify imprecisions in data depending on the type of business industry and calculate how large were the gaps for both of the services.

What exactly we compared

We collected and analyzed data from SimilarWeb, SEMrush, and Google Analytics for the visits among all 700+ websites in January 2020. These websites are located in the USA, UK, Canada, Germany, and Australia. We divided them into groups according to their niche:

Comparison method we pursue

To identify the rate of accuracy of rivals’ traffic data by SimilarWeb and SEMrush, we put together the data mentioned below in one table:

• Google Analytics anonymized data from 700+ websites with 100,000 visitors per month.
  
• Traffic data from the same websites determined by SimilarWeb and SEMrush.

We omitted websites that had low traffic according to Google Analytics. This low rate might be probably caused by filters for properties.

The next step was to calculate the absolute value of the deviations between traffic data given by SimilarWeb and SEMrush in comparison with Google Analytics data.

We had to make calculations using absolute value because deviations might be both positive and negative. Moreover, we were only interested in the rate of accuracy. This decision also eliminated the chances of mistake as positive and negative values could result in zero.

Finally, we subdivided the websites into 3 groups by the number of sessions happened in January:

• The deviation from the data by SimilarWeb ranged between 57% and 61% and there was no correlation traffic volumes on websites.
  
• SEMrush data, however, showed more explicit results. Websites from the third group (1,000,000+ visitors) indicated higher accuracy rate and a lower deviation(45%) against Google Analytics data.

Considering websites with 500,000 and more sessions, SEMrush showed 9-12% higher accuracy compared to SimilarWeb. Finally, for websites with the least amount of traffic, both of the services represented a high level of inaccuracy, even though SimilarWeb made a bit better result.

The differences in accuracy rate stemmed from distinction in gathering and processing algorithms as well as some aspects of clickstream data of SimilarWeb and SEMrush. These services operate with the help of AI and machine learning algorithms in order to approximate obtained data on all website sessions on the basis of clickstream data (Clickstream data refers to data on samples of website traffic). Nevertheless, SEMrush results are more precise in 53% of samples. The conclusion is that SEMrush makes fewer mistakes but they are more massive.

There are several factors, that define the accuracy rate of data:

• How Google Analytics system is set up, which pages have Google Analytics tags, and what these tags measure.
  
• Does Google evaluate the website as active? For example, for redirect website from ad network or promo website mainly used for paid advertising traffic, SEMrush will definitely demonstrate lower numbers.
  
• What is the share of organic traffic on your website? SEMrush gives more accurate results for websites with a greater share of organic traffic.
  
• Where it’s located and what niche a business operate in. Let’s assume that SEMrush has more websites and businesses from the USA in the finance industry. Apparently, the service will have more data about the US market in this specific niche. Certainly, calculations will be more accurate for that particular market.
