Is Adult Dating a dying niche? (24)
Hi there,
I have been in the space for about 6 months now, and this has been in the back of my mind, and I really wanted to address this - to me it's almost like the 800 pound gorilla in the room if you will.
From my understanding that most of these adult dating offers - don't actually have real women on their member sites. (If there are, please let me know which?) But instead have things like "fantasy cuties" which are like bots or outsourced chat workers from other countries correct?
If so, I mean, wouldn't it just be a matter of time when a "customer" realizes this is realizes it's bullshit and stops being a customer? This has been on my mind for a while so I thought I'd ask it, I'm genuinely curious to hear what you guys think. If that's the case... then wouldn't this be a dying niche because if the product is not truly adding value to people's lives, there will eventually run out of people to "sell?"

I don't think adult is a dying niche, however I do believe it is a very competitive one.
For the most part I think it's a pretty efficient market, and is definitely not for newbies who don't have the stomach to take losses initially.
In my opinion a lot of adult is finding your competitive advantages whether thats higher payouts, exclusive offers, better traffic pricing etc.
And all of that really is something that happens after you've been around a while and have spent a lot of $$$ on campaigns.
As far as your question about bots etc. Im sure a ton of these sites are just chat bot farms but I'm sure some have some real women, who knows really.
But since it is an evergreen niche there will always be new people interested in these sites, so I think it's not going anywhere any time soon.
the adult industry invented affiliate marketing and online payment processing 20+ years ago. as long as the internet exists, there will be adult sites/apps/products looking for sales or leads, so no it is not a dying vertical
I asked this question myself, like 15 years ago when I first tried to promote a dating site, maybe more than 15 actually. I had the same concerns, but as you can see, dating is still here and it's quite possibly the biggest vertical in adult generally. At least for paid traffic campaigns.
You are right that MANY of the sites are running bots in order to simulate activity. But then again, all the affiliates promoting it, are sending real human users. So it's not like all the members are BOTs. 1000s and 1000s new members are registering to these sites every day. Truth to be told, most of them are males, so the % of real female users is likely quite small. Last time I promoted a site that also showed the sex of the user, there was like 1 female users out of 20 I sent. I doubt it has changed much.
As 12as26 has mentioned, adult has been the driving force in online advertising for a long time. Affiliate marketing model, POPs, native ads, mobile billing ... all these have been either started by adult webmasters, or they at least popularized the model a lot. Many people believe that the internet as a whole "exploded" because of adult in the first place. This being said, I also believe that as long there is an internet, there will be tons of adult clicks to work with, it's not going anywhere.
The problem with adult is that most of the traffic comes from the free tubes. These users visit these sites to get the content and to get it for free. So it's hard to sell anything to them. Whatever can be recorded and streamed for free, won't sell well. That's why we need something live and interactive. And the dating experience is one of these things.
People are getting educated, many of them are aware of the scammy sites by now indeed, so we can expect the performance to go down over the years. But at the same time, more and more people are getting connected to the internet daily. There are still huge markets waiting to get monetized, we just need a proper way of billing, or the countries have to develop. Think about India and many other Asian countries, these will do well with dating at some point.
And at the end of the day, traffic is sold based on an auction model. The buyers will only pay as much as they can make from it. So if the performance goes down, so should the prices.
One way or another, I don't see dating dying any time soon. The traffic will always be there and there will always be some way of monetizing it and dating seems like one of the best options.
As jabong mentioned, competition is one of the main factors that make it hard to make money in this vertical. Running dating is easy, the funnels are very simple, anyone can copy them and run. As a result, the margins are smaller and there is less money left for the affiliates. This is the problem, not the saturation or a possible end of dating coming.
At least that's the way I see it.

and here it is the same. There are so many guys that got into paying for fake profile animations and they do it over and over again. For some its hope, some are entertained and some are simply the idiots I mentioned.
We all change landers, banners etc to appear appealing for the user and he tries it over and over again.
I would not rely on the TIER one markets. We make a really nice buck since this year in Countries like BR, MX, RO what is definetively Tier 2 or even 3. Traffic prices are super low, market not saturated. If you wanna try

Dating will always be around as long as there are lonely people in the world.
The consumer has chosen the online platform to meet people. It beats going to bars, restaurants and every other avenue...However it will morph and evolve like everything else. A few years ago it was just sites like POF and then came along Tinder and then it will be something else. That's just the natural evolution of things.

I appreciate everyone's replies. I understand that the need for dating/companionship/sex will never change, but my curiosity was around how can a product/service that "doesn't work" (like how many guys actually find REAL women to hook up with on these adult dating offers?) last if... it's not real!
But maybe people are getting their needs met, and even if it's imaginary, whether they know it or not, they are still getting their needs met.
But again, thank you for your comments. I appreciate what you said @matuloo about different GEO's evolving with their internet use, how the model is an auction model anyway, which would only allow it to "work" if people were making profits, and how the traffic will always be there, just that the offers might change or evolve.

The adult is keeping gaining a number of users that are visiting that kind of sites, but the niche is more competitive than earlier. It will be growing, and competitors need to find new ways to promote or new methods to rank, out trick your opponents. This kind of niche won't be dead for a looong time.
What you guys think on this idea:
Every day the owner of the offer sends me the most stupid dating requests and classifies. Half of it makes me shake my head as well. Most people can not even stand it when I tell them :-D
Maybe I should simply make a page with Dating Fails and post all this messages and profiles there. Its unique content and I dont even have to write it.... Some of it is so shocking that people would share that shit etc.
Very sure from this visitors a few like that kind of niche and sign up on the portal. For the rest we will find some offers that would match.
