HI Stackers.
I am running a couple of test campaigns with proppellor ads on smartCPA and CPA2.0. I find that aside from the fact it is nearly impossible to get any scale at all (even if I have 1K per day cap and 10K lifetime cap) it struggles to spend over $100 on either one. The campaigns die almost everytime by day 2.
does anyone else experience this?
has anyone been able to scale with either of these?
what have you dont to combat the instafatigue.
thanks
SmartCPA is not really for scaling.
I rather use it for collecting good data to use in SmartCPM campaigns.
Also not all offers are a good match for SmartCPA but when used correctly it can be a nice way to make some additional money and collect stats.
Wanted to write a blog post about it anyway.
Will try to get it published soon.
Edit: And sorry for the short reply.
Don't like writing long texts on my phone.
thanks @twinaxe, very useful information i was starting to go mad.
Can i press a bit further and ask what learnings you take to the SmartCPA.
I have around 200 conversions, and have narrowed by carrier, device, browser etc...
I also have a list of around 25 zones that are the main converters.
Do you recommend moving both of these, i.e. running on a whitelist of the 25 zones narrowed by the data that I have as a smartCPM campaign?
I've had similar experience with CPA 2.0. It is relatively new (some accounts do not even have it enabled) and I think still needs a lot of work to function correctly.
As a matter of fact, this weekend I've noticed that frequency cap for CPA 2.0, even though initially set to 1/24, would randomly change to other numbers, making campaigns go hard in the red. Every time I change it back, it would just change again in a few hours.
Personally, I attribute a lot of of my success to SmartCPA campaigns. If you have a proven, working funnel, this could be a game changer in terms of figuring out which zones are profitable. Once you have a solid list, you create a separate white-listed SmartCPM campaign and run your offer on those zones only. Not all of those zones will be profitable, so you still have to cull, but it is way better than starting with a RON campaign.
From what I heard, SmartCPA on Propeller, may or may not have a limited life left. So take advantage of it while you can.
thanks, I have heard that as well about SmartCPA.
I have just broken out the campaign to a SmartCPM, one with a whitelist and one with a blacklist, so will see how we get on.
What conversion rate do you have for SmartCPA to work well for you. mine is 0.3% and a payout of $2 in the US. but i just get no volume at all....
My guess is, for a GEO as competitive as US, somebody already has solid campaigns locked up on SmartCPA with the payout way higher than yours, getting majority of the traffic.
Suitable conversion rate will be different for each GEO and payout, so I wouldn't use that as a metric to go by.
This is from the past 7 days of some of my SmartCPA camps:

Not sure if this is helpful at all.
amazing thank you - very helpful as I have a similar conversion rate and payouts are the same(ish). I have the offer in a less competitive GEO so will try it there and see if we can garner any success. What have you found to be the biggest factors for success in the sCPA campaings? and when you see sucess are you breaking those sources out the a smart CPM campaign?
Hey guys, how are you setting up the test budget for the SmartCPA campaigns? I guess it should be dependent on the payout and GEO size?
Let's say I have offer with $10 payout in US ... how would you determine test budget for it?
the minimum test budget is $50. so bear that in mind if yo uset the daily cap to 10, it will spend 10 per day but spending will take a long time.
On SmartCPA you compete with direct advertisers and big brands.
Of course they can set much higher CPA than you.
Same goes for other affiliates with already optimized campaigns, when they only bid on specific placements they can also bid higher.,
It also depends on the offers the other people are promoting.
When you run a $2 payout SOI and others run for same targeting $200 offers they often also can run on higher CPA.
And then there is the targeted ROI.
Do you want to make more money per conversion = higher ROI or less money per conversion = lower ROI but more volume?
All these things can have an impact on campaign performance and lifetime.
Thanks twinaxe ... I'm really looking forward to your post about SmartCPA, as you always provide useful information.

Looks like it doesn't matter now, at least for propeller. Other networks with a CPA model are Adsterra, Clickadu and obviously Advertizer.
