Journey in push traffic from the scratch

Interesting moment for me to start making follow along first time and i currently don't know actually what will be the results but as I am forever craving for something new and better I have exciting feeling right now

Okay, let's start.

Firslty, will tell a bit about me. I am not brand new in AM, I have some experience but still it's very new for me what i'm going to do in this thread.

What is done to this moment:

1. Have chosen Traffic type and source - it's PUSH traffic and first source is DatsPush. Got info about quantity of traffic in all geos from support.
2. Have chosen vertical. It's CC Sweepstakes submits. Got the list of TOP offers last 7 days from my AM.
3. Tracker is set upped.

What are my plans on today:

1. Finish writing my initial post in this Follow Along.
2. Choose exact geo. I'm going to choose one on the start to learn basics of :

2.1. Prepearing all elements in the funnel (spying, landing pages, creatives, setting up campaign, bids etc.)
2.2. Understanding mechanic of push traffic

And after I will get basics about these two points i will continue my testing on further geos.

3. Choose and prepare
5-10 the most popular and long-running creatives in Adplexity and SpyPush on the chosen geo and not only (it's easy to make translation of a few lines of text . I will run only mobile campaigns and as i know on this traffic type the main image (491х398) is not dispaying so it makes finding creatives much easier. Icon (192х192), Title, Text.

4.
Landers. I believe it's one the most most nedeed time part of prepearing launching campaign but it doesn't make it less interesting

I'm going to find 2-3 most popular landers like in previous point in Adplexity and SpyPush. And it may not be only on chosen geo, because landers on sweep are not very big like on nutra so it's not hard to translate them if i'll find really cool on another language.

After that, the most interesting part is copying and cleaning landers. As i am not familiar with coding almost at all and i don't want to give some percents of my traffic to somebody, i see 2 ways here:

4.1. Pay to coder on freelance to make this job. As landers are not big i think ~ 5 hours will be enough for him to copy and clean 2-3 items.
4.2. Ask guys from https://bannerslanders.com/ to do this. Actually and don't know the prices and any details, i just heard about this service from interview with iamatilla so gonna find out details. BTW, as i know they also have actual good performing landers for all verticals so maybe i'll purchase to split them.

After landers are copied and cleaned i will adapt them to geo and offer if needed.

5. Upload landers and offer(s) to the tracker. Set up campaign with 5-10 prepared creatives in the source and launch campaign.

6. After traffic starts i will check if all tokens are passing info correct (especially CPC token because it's very important to see full and correct info in the tracker and i heard that not every source is passing this info good because there may be difference between clicks in the source and tracker but will see). After that i will adjust bids if needed.

Oh, i didn't think writing a blog needs so much time and energy but actually even from the start i see advantages, because when i write i think and additionaly analyze all info. So useful! We really need to train our main muscle - brain every day.

I hope you enjoy what and how i am writing. I will be very pleasant if you will also communicate with me and ask questions, write your experience and advices.

Have a great Thursday evening to all

I would just use Banners&Landers instead of some random coder who doesn't know exactly what you need.

The Second Day

What I've done today:

Creatives:

1. Chose the geo I will start with.
2. Chose 10 creatives during spying in Adpexity and SpyPush (BTW, Spypush has larger range of geos). And I had spying not only my geo but also 3 top geos from the list of my AM. From these 10 top creatives i will choose 5-7 which i will upload on work firstly.

Landers:

1. Chose 7 landers from different countries but sweepstakes with different angles (by received most traffic and my own opinion in functionality and design). From these 7 underlined 3 the best.

2. Sent my question to Banners&Landers on this page -
https://bannerslanders.com/order-now/ 7 hours ago and my ticket is still opened without answer I wanted to know if they are able to help me with copying and cleaning these 3 landers or sell me good performing ones.

3. Not waiting long I got in touch with coder on freelance and made him the task to copy&clean. He said one lander's index.html is obfuscated so he could copy it but it will be not possible to work with this file (change links, text...). Interesting method of preventing lander from ripping, haven't met it ever. What do you think about it?

So I decided to start working with 2 left landers. Now coder is being working on them and will finish in a few hours.

4. In parallel I went ahead and ask the best guy on fiverr (by reviews and quantity of projects) which is able to translate text of my landers fast and cheap. Translation is done already.

Technically:

1. Not to waste time while waiting copying and translation I set up Affiliate Network and Offer in the tracker and prepared campaign.
2. Also prepeared campaign in the trafficsource.
3. Sent my manager postback to set it globally.
4. Sent my payment information for future payments.
5. Bought ExpressVPN to have an access to all offerpages (this service has servers in 94 countries).

That's all on today. I am going to adapt my landers for needed language and launch campaign tomorrow and get my first practice experience and results in new vertical for me.

for fastest service, please add bannerslanders on skype

about the coder, he obviously has no idea what he's saying if he told you you can't change links. This [lack of experience/knowledge with affiliate landers] is why... as 247media recommended, it's best to hire banners&landers that has cleaned thousands of landers for affiliates exclusively and know their stuff

Third day

It's 24 hours left already since first campaign was started. Results:

---

What was done yesterday:

1. Adapted 2 landers on needed language and geo.
2. Set up backfix in both.
3. Created 7 different creatives. A bit more about this point:

My landers have significantly different angles so i decided to create 2 creatives which i will send on only one lander (with the same angle) and 1 creative on the second respectively. I have done it thanks to rules. And 4 left creatives are like "standart" so they are running on both landers. Because of this manipulation i need to analyze stats only in drilldown creatives-landers.

4. After starting campaign I had a regular work (~ every 30 minutes) with adjusting bids and analyzing how it influences on quantity of traffic.

Currently it's most incomprehensible aspect in mechanic of push traffic for me. I will cover this topic in questions.

Optimization:

1. Bids. Now my creatives run on ~ 30-40% bid higher than was avarage when i launched (of cource now avarage is high because of my campaign).

Every ~ 1 hour today I make screenshot of statistic creatives and save it. Than change bids higher-lower depending on volume creative sends. After 1 hour compare changing on quantity of traffic and changing bids ---> make same step.

2. Landers.

I think here is everything obvious considering the first lander is really unique because I've adapted it from another country and there are two very relevant creatives.

So I switched off the second lander and deleted rules.

3. Creatives.

I decided to left only highlighted creatives because:

a) First and Third are very relevant to the best perfoming lander.
b) Second was going on the bad lander all time so I need to test it also on good one.
c) 4-7 creatives have lower CTR than 3 first.
d) I really don't want to play so much with bids on all these creatives.
e) I know they compete on the 1 target so I don't want creatives with small potential compete with the best ones.

On the left creatives I decided to set same bid (on 35% higher than was yesterday before I launched campaign). And will see how traffic will go and adjust respectivelly.

4. Budget.

When I only launched campaign I set 50$ daily budget and when 25$ was spent traffic stopped (I saw it in statistic by hours). Support told that now when campaign reached 50% of daily budget new pushes don't send and there are just clicks on pushes that are already sent. It's done to avoid big overspend of limit due to the specific of push format.

So now I set 400$ daily budget just to see how much traffic will get in a few next hours.

5. Spotes/Sites/Feeds

I think it's too early to make any conclusions on this side.

Conclusions:

1. Bid doesn't influence on quality of traffic but does on its quantity in Datspush. Support told it me. There is different strategy in MegaPush as I know and this is quite interesting.
2. It's possible to buy more traffic on exact geo than in info about clicks from support.
3. All creatives in my campaigns compete with each other so I think it's better after initial test to leave 2-3 the best by CTR and performing so they get all traffic and bring profit without competition.
4. For getting good profit it's always needed to think own mind and create/test different angles nobody test before you. It's like the key I think.
5. When campaign reached 50% of daily budget new pushes don't send and there are just clicks on pushes that are already sent. It's done to avoid big overspend of limit due to the specific of push format.
6. It's better to have > 100$ on balance so campaign is able to run without limitations of system to prevent overspending.

Plan:

1. Let this optimised campaign spend at least 200$ more and then make any statistically significant opinions.
2. Scale this campaign on different traffic sources.
3. Launch huge amount of new geos and test everything.

Questions:

1. Bids.

Actually maybe it's not needed to adjust bids so carefully. Like set about 20% bigger from avarage and if traffic goes and it's profitable so OK. Cause in my situation it takes much time and I'm not sure it worth it to play with each single creative. What do you think how it's better to do?

2. In general, what you can advice seeing on my situation, my thoughts and actions?

3. What is your experience in PUSH notifications?

4. How I can be useful for you? Maybe you have some questions to me? It doesn't mean I will say angles, offer or geo etc I work with, but still I will try to help with everything I know from my 3 days experience

5. How to make my pictures in posts big and good-looking?) Cause I think it's not the best way for readers to click every time to see them. Now i use "Insert Image".

The main my thought on today:

We mustn't be glad on profit that is made by chance, because of luck. It's shit that kills in us desire to growth. One think is really important and worth, as for me. It is awesome results after really hard-working. That's what I am aiming to achieve.

Thank you for your posts. Very inspiring. You did a great job.
I've recently began my journey into push. Already got my first green campaign. But faced with the issues of optimization and scaling. If you do not mind, I'll ask a couple of questions. I'm interested in your opinion.
Did you make any white or black lists?
When you delete not converting creatives, do you add any new ones? Or do you cut up to 1-2 creatives?
Did you have such situation that when you increase the budget from $ 50 to $ 400, for example, you get negative ROI? What would you do in this case?

Hello fooboo, thanks for you post here.

Already got my first green campaign.
Very good news, my congratulations!

Did you make any white or black lists?
Not yet actually. Because campaign is profitable I decided not to be so fast and give more time each site to show the results. I think each one should spend at least 2 cost of lead and give no leads before i am able to switch it off relatively representative.

When you delete not converting creatives, do you add any new ones? Or do you cut up to 1-2 creatives?
Now I see good perfoming in 2 creatives which are very relevant to my lander so I decided to leave just these 2 creatives and see how long they are profitable. BTW This is very interesting test for me, I suppose It may be that these creatives can live even months so I think every affiliate should do his own test and make his own conclusion.

My chosen geo is not so big, it can't spend 400$ per day with a few creatives. I did it for my campaign not to be limited (I mean in daily budget). So now I see ROI is the same but I can buy more traffic.

I see. Not to be so fast is a wise idea. For my profit campaign whitelisting worked great.

BTW This is very interesting test for me, I suppose It may be that these creatives can live even months so I think every affiliate should do his own test and make his own conclusion.
I left 2 creatives after using Bayesian calculator from this thread. but this camp stopped converting after several days.So I think whether it is worth looking for more creatives, although it seems to me that I tried many creatives that fit my lander.

Thanks for reply. Waiting for new post.

Fourth day

Results of this day (not full):

Cost: 81$
Revenue: 120$
Profit: 38$
ROI: 47%

1. Made optimization by creatives and decided to continue running only 2 best relevant and performing to the best lander. As I said in previous post this is very interesting for me to see how long these creatives will live without adding new.
2. Tried to low bids on these creatives but after this I started to get much less traffic. So now I up bids to see with which bid there will be enough traffic.
3. Decided to scale my current campaign on other traffiic sources. Actually I was thinking about launching more geos first but scaling currently profitable geo and funnel seems more effective and interesting for me. BTW learning new traffic sources can't be boring

Results for yesterday:

Cost: 223$
Revenue: 120$
Profit: -104$
ROI: -47%

Yesterday to a half of a day my campaign was profitable but I saw small amount of traffic even considering I bidded very high taking into account avg bid.
So I've decided to create 6 creatives similar on the best my angle and did it. After that my campaign started to spend about 30$ per hour and even decreasing of bid didn't help. The main problem was no conversions.

So I stopped this campaign in the evening and today analyzed statistic. I saw there are two creatives with really big CTR and good CR comparably to other creatives so today I decided to leave only them and started campaign with low bid (a bit bigger than avarage).

Conclusions:

1. As I have read here on STM, somebody of moderators wrote that creatives compete with each other espesially on small geo/source on PUSH traffic. I think I have "tested" this statement on my own experience. Because I don't see any other reasons why campaign showed so bad results after adding new many creatives and with huge bid.

Results:

23.05

Cost: 46$
Revenue: 84$
Profit: 37$
ROI: 81%

24.05

Have launched 1 new geo on best creative and lander from first geo.

Campaign #1

Cost: 58$
Revenue: 72$
Profit: 14$
ROI: 25%

Campaign #2

Cost: 73$
Revenue: $21
Profit: -51$
ROI: -71%

One offer showed better perfomance so I decided to left only it and will see today's results in the evening.

05-25-2019 05:01 PM #13 independent (Member)

Today:

Campaign #1

Cost: 40$
Revenue: 12$
Profit: -27$
ROI: -70%

I think this is not an representative stats at all because there is not much costs to say campaign is going minus. I would like to run it all tomorrow and if results will stay the same so analyze why it can be.

Campaign #2

Cost: 56$
Revenue: 31$
Profit: -25$
ROI: -44%

This is stats on the best offer (I switched off bad one yesterday). I think now is not the best time to try making this campaign profitable with new landers/creatives. I think it's better to spend time and money on scaling one already profitable (but not today profitable ) campaign and testing new geos.

But I understand this is not enough stats to forget this campaign so I will make it profitable in some time.

I'm not sure if this was the case, your volume isn't that high. Unless it was a very small GEO.

What I think was more likely, was that they added some new publishers with lower quality traffic. It's also possible that some competitor dropped out so you received some of their traffic. Or the higher bid opened some other placements for you and they were not working with your funnel. Try to analyze the data, to see if there are new pubs sending traffic or you just got more volume from the current ones.

Of course it's possible to compete with yourself when yuo create multiple campaigns with the same targeting. But when using multiple ads, it doesn't have to be that big problem.

I think now is not the best time to try making this campaign profitable with new landers/creatives. I think it's better to spend time and money on scaling one already profitable (but not today profitable ) campaign and testing new geos.
Actually, I would try exactly that: new creatives and LPs. The campaign worked pretty well, and it looks like a typical burnout that push campaigns suffer from quite often. I think it's worth a try.
