Almost 2 years of Little-No Aff Success-->Future Super Affiliate

Hello STM'ers ,

First Id like to thank everyone who contributes to this forum. You may not realize it but your posts/follow alongs/advice really mean a lot to other affiliates like me on this forum who haven't hit success yet. I have read this forum inside out top to bottom and even though i'm not wildly successful in my IM business yet*, i've retained a lot of knowledge from it that i know combined with EFFORT & ACTION can be turned into success.

Background Info:

I first started as an affiliate less than 2 years ago. I was introduced to BH aff marketing through a former colleague and it took very little convincing for me to begin learning even though i was told its a lot of hard work and you may loose a bit of money during testing , setup costs etc. I ended up doing decently well early on getting to high xx- mid xxx per day in profit running Diet, Skin, & lots of Nootropics on native. This was the confirmation enough for me to believe that I was sitting on something worth investing my time and efforts into(that being Aff marketing).

Fast forward 8 months i was starting to break even in total and was only running 1 traffic source with 1 Geo with 1-3 campaigns in the same vertical. Looking back i wish i tested more offers, traffic sources, landing pages, placements etc. I think i was a little scared of going into the red because i had campaigns that were working to some degree. Im sure a lot of struggling affiliates can relate. Anyways, lots of updates happened , A lot of my Lp's got indexed by google , nothing was converting like it used to and things were not going as planned.
I felt STUCK. I had no idea where to go from there. Took some side jobs and hustled to keep myself afloat until now. Ive always stayed on top of things going on in the industry so its not like i stopped learning & keeping track of trends. But i haven't been running any campaigns, probably because of the fear of them not working out.

Today, Im taking another shot at it and wont stop until i crack it. Im sick and tired of standing on the sidelines when i know with a massive effort and action i can get the ball rolling once again to major success.
Nowww to the stuff that really matters...

The Plan:

"Everyone Has a Plan Until They Get Punched in the Face"

Ain't that the truth lol

I think I want to steer away from BH this time around and focus on more WH-GH verticals.

My goal is to get to xxx per day to start until i have my sh*t together (In all honesty i really think i can do this within 2-4 weeks of grinding- once i hit xxx profit per day then id like to set a process in place to keep existing campaigns & offers running profitably and start testing more of everything else to get to x,xxx profit per day.. my ultimate goal is to be in the xx,xxx per day within 6-9 months.. i know its a big number for anyone especially form zero but i really believe i can get there). I want to focus on FB & Push and start running SOI Sweeps just to get some momentum going with the budget to test more offers, lp's, placements, targeting, creatives, copy, etc. I was looking to try Tier 1 Geo's for my Sweeps offers... if you have any suggestions on my approach id really appreciate all and any feedback.
I plan to update every day more than once a day as i start and then as i get busier i will try to update every 1-2 days.

I have aff networks/offers/traffic sources/some landers in place.
I might need some help from the forum in terms of tracking but theres a lot of tutorials on here i think ill be able to manage for the time being.

To Do's :

Stay Tuned!

Clean up LP's that i recently ripped-(clean code with Dreamweaver)
I wouldn´t use Dreamweaver.
Better check Sublime Editor, it has great features, very good readable code and is free to use.

Purchase 1-3 more domains-(Namecheap) than i already have so i can swap them out if need be in a hurry
Don´t only buy the domains.
Also setup DNS so that they are ready to use when you need them.

Server-Digital Ocean droplets per domain
Why do you want one droplet per domain?
Keep it as simple as possible and just use one droplet for all your domains.

do we really need to use tracker? Is it tracker can do much more better than the advertising platform itself?

Server-Digital Ocean droplets per domain- Serverpilot (I suck with servers so while im starting up i see value in delegating this part) (If you recommend anything easier/better/faster please feel free to let me know)
FunnelFlux Managed LP Server - https://www.funnelflux.com/get/

I also second not using Dreamweaver unless you're already very familiar with the platform... Sublime Editor is a good recommendation. I personally use Atom which is also free.

Yes, a tracker can do much more.
With a tracker you can splittest different offers, landers, paths.
With a tracker you can filter out bad traffic.
With a tracker you don't need to give your placements to the networks.
With a tracker... etc...

Every now and then someone asks this question - we've talked it through in another thread on STM, so I'll just leave the link to it here.

If you're considering Voluum, ping me and I'll help you set it up.

So just an update!

-I took @twinaxe advice and i'm now using Sublime to edit code on landing pages. I agree it is much better than Dreamweaver and loads much faster than dreamweaver. Only thing i liked better on dream weaver was the split option that allowed you to see the landing page in realtime. But i can definitely live without it and i do like Sublime a lot better.

-I also bought more domains and set up the DNS. although with serverpilot im not sure if all the domains are SSL secure, i know my first app(domain) is but im not sure if it works for multiple. but ill cross that path once i get there. Worst case i switch my server set up.

-I am using digital ocean's droplets along with 1 domain per server in the event i run a fb campaign. i was told that its best to create more droplets because they have their own individual Ip's and if my account gets banned for whatever reason that any other LP on the server will also be flagged. Please correct me if im wrong or if you can recommend a better server set up . I was thinking about switching to a server set up with a CDN so that if i decide to test multiple geos i wont need to set up a LP server for each individual campaign. Already gives me a headache just thinking about it. @sprice thank you for the recommendation. i was considering it and the price point seems reasonable for the basic.. it does say additional server locations are 99 a month so if i do decide to test different geos it would be too expensive for me compared to something like Digital ocean or Amazon.

Traffic Source: Propeller Ads

Decided to test propeller ads as ive heard good things. On Voluum i've generated the pre loaded the traffic source template. but i replaced the variable "Useragent" with "Bannerid" . Reason is I definitely want banner id for obvious optimization reasons and from what i know Voluum tracks enough data for me to figure out the user agent without having the parameter (i think).
I didnt set up Propeller ads traffic source postback url...maybe its something i should do to track things like costs, impressions etc. I didnt want to do it while i was running traffic incase i screwed something up even though i dont think it would.
Ill do it now i guess.
Propeller Traffic Postback URL Setup
In Voluum : http://ad.propellerads.com/conversion.php?aid=(Blank)&pid=&tid=(blank)&visito r_id={externalid}
In Propeller Ads : Visitor ID paramater= ${SUBID}
Voluum PropAds setting:Impression Tracking OFF
Voluum PropAds setting: Direct Tracking OFF
Propeller Ads Check URL : My Voluum Campaign URL - says well done so must have done it right...i think lol

Campaign Schedule:UTC 4 - ALL-Changed this to start running traffic after 7 am

Mobile
Android
OS:ALL
Browser: Removed Chrome for a little cause yesterday chrome traffic didnt convert at all but i switched it mid-campaign today back to all
Browser Lang: ALL
Connection Type: ALL - Switched to all connections (thought wifi would perform best yesterday but i definitely should have tested both first before i made that decision)
Zones: Started removing zone ID's that served more than 5,000 impressions with Low/No clicks or even if high clicks (15+ with no conversions)

Anyone have a rule of thumb for optimizing placements thats not super ad spend aggressive on a negative campaign

Going to remove the DL today
Also same thing today with the daily budget being spent before the day even starts.

Does anyone think i should keep going with a campaign with these types of results? thinking of testing more GEO's but id have to get another LP Server from digital ocean placed in Europe or something which is a hassle but thinking of switching my LP Server Set up to something else.

Additional server locations is only for their tracking service Funnel Flux. The managed landing page service is just 1 server location, with a CDN so that it loads fast in all geos worldwide.

oh i see! do you know if this works well with facebook accounts as well in the event that an account goes down attached to a LP on that server?

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. I don't use Facebook ads.
