Tip: A hack to use Standard Text Ads on Google Display to start serving quickly

I haven't found this simple tip on the forums, so I'd like to share.

If you create a Google Ads Display campaign, you can create responsive text ads. They're nice and Google tries to optimize which combination of headlines/text works best, but they often take a long time to be accepted. And in my experience get rejected more often than standard text ads.

Standard text ads used to be the default on the Display Network, but now you can't create them on a Display campaign.

So here's the simple tip:
1. Create a Search campaign, add a dummy standard text ad.
2. Copy the ad. You can do it right away, no need to wait for it to be accepted.
3. Paste the ad into your Display campaign ad group.
4. Then edit the ad to your liking. You can edit anything, including the url.
This type of ad gets moderated VERY quickly and starts serving right away.

You don't have to wait (sometimes) days for responsive ads to be moderated to get your campaign going. As a bonus, these very short ads sometimes get better CTR then the responsive ads, because they're shorter and stand out. They just probably won't show in all placements.
