Ecom on native
Hi guys,
We're selling different products on our Ecom websites (mobile accessories, fitness products, apparel) and we just enter the Native game after long frustrating phase with social (spent over $200K in social during the past months but CPA's are getting way too expensive for us).
So I wonder what would be the best funnel (so we can save some $$$ on testing).
Ad >> top 10 similar products (like "Best running shoes 2019") >> advert >> offer
Ad >> advert >> offer
Ad >> top 10 random niche product (like "Best fitness gear") >> advert >> offer
Ad >> offer (hard to believe this one would work)
Ad >> top 10 gifts >> advert >> offer
OR
Change direction and go for an advert (Advertorial) with lead collection in return for a coupon and then get them:
1.Immediately redirect to the offer
2.Enter coupon million emails sequence
Thanks for the help guys, and I've just joined STM so glad to be here

use a spy tool to see what funnel some people are already running for ecom offers and just copy what's working

I posted about this recently. I've heard the top ones are adbeat, anstrex, adplexity

Yes, Anstrex seems to be more legit... Adbeat looks way too expensive with no real value over the competition

I would echo Michoangelo's advice above- get a spytool (Adplexity is the one I use) and then look at the ecom stuff doing well on Outbrain and Taboola.
Look up the affiliate network GiddyUp and see how all their products are being run by their partners and their internal team. GiddyUp is probably the gold standard in native ecom, and then there's also always a range of other ecom products doing well from a variety of other networks too (lately it's been drones, Breathe Green Eco bags, WiFi-boosters, foot relief products, etc).
It seems to me that the ecom products that have the most success on native are in the 25-100$ price range, and with broad appeal rather than niche.
If you're trying to build up a 'brand' or branded store as it were and get lots of repeat customers, that's a little different obviously, and while I haven't run into that kind of thing a lot while spying on native, I definitely think there are corollaries in other verticals. For instance in the financial vertical, there's definitely newsletter services that do well just advertising on 100-500 big political/financial sites and continually picking up email subscribers and selling newsletter subscriptions, so if your Ecom model is built around getting email signups and then creating long-term customers then those guys might be worth checking out on the spy tool as well.
Good luck!

Yes, we saw GiddyUp and HyperTech (those guys that run Drones, car trackers, etc'...)... So it seems that only Top10 (gifts/gadgets) works, as it's impossible to target more narrow than that

Well, a lot of those products from the listicles also get run on their own... when they do it's usually with a headline calling out the "problem" they solve... so for instance "New WiFi Booster Ends Slow Internet For Good!" or "Don't Lose Your Family Photos! Click Here!" or "People Who Want Whiter Teeth Need To See This Immediately!", etc... then there's usually a presell page and a landing page, often with gif's or vsl's embedded in them along with lots of copy + images. I'll admit I'm quite partial to the listicle format though, as I think it allows for greater creativity, flexibility, etc.

We see mostly direct to product advertorial on our DSP for e-commerce. Most of our advertisers buy from Taboola, Outbrain, Ligatus and LiveIntent through Earnify to products such as DroneX Pro, HealthWatch and Photostick. GiddyUp and M4TRIX seem to be the go to affiliate networks.

Native is really about content marketing approach, try to make sure the content you present is up-to-date and not overused ( AdPlexity top converting LPs you might find can be outdated, create something fresh)
2-steps-user flow (ad->presell->offer) should be perfect.
Make presell catchy like.. "10 Items you don't wanna miss this Summer!".
Optimize presell page based on traffic data you receive (don't forget about changing the Item position on the page, might be the reason of low CR). At the end of the day you will be excluding less converting Items, you should end up with top 5 list of your bestsellers.
Discounts angle (with crossed prices) works best if we're talking about ads.
We're running a lot of e-Commerce offers here in Adskeeper, feel free to test out our inventory as well.
