Optimizing Blackhat Campaigns

Hey STM, so I'm new to the world of blackhat & I'm desperately trying to figure out how to optimize my nutra campaign. Relevance score is high, CPC is good. Click thru to the ad is good. However, my lander CTR is atrocious. (2-4%).

What is the best way to utilize the FB pixel for this & is it even safe to place it on my landing page?

Any advice would be greatly appreicated either on this thread or on skype: live:281dd93beda3efd8

I've had profitable campaigns with a LP CTR of just 4-5%, what you should really care about is your EPV, and as long as your EPV is higher than your CPC you'll be profitable.

EPV = EPC/LP CTR

You can increase your LP CTR by adding a backbutton redirect and more links throughout your advertorial, but it won't necessarily
increase your EPV.

You could try firing the FB Pixel on offer click, so it would fire every time someone goes from your advertorial to the offer page. It will provide more data points for facebook to optimize based on instead of optimizing for purchases only but you might get more window shoppers.

Yeah the LP CTR is only a concern because it seems to be the only metric I have control of at the moment. The offer CV rate is outside of my control, CPC & Rel Score are good. So that seems the way to go.

My only concern is will firing the pixel on a cloaked page result in an instant ban.

I'd try more landers man get split testing more, 2-4% is low I don't think its the traffic you need to optimise for better LP CTR, its the lander itself or something on it bugging?

We sit in the 8-10% range for consistent profit

If you ripped the LP, check it for any malicious code which may have been placed to steal your traffic by the original owner. 2 - 4% is def low, aim for 10% minimum.

Still your ad can have a good cpc and relevance score... doesn’t mean you hit the right traffic for the prelander/offer ofcourse. Maybe they are surprised by the prelander your are showing and they expected other stuff...

Make sure your whole funnel is consistent and trustworthy.

There are many ways to troubleshoot this. As other mentioned before it could be multiple reasons, so its hard to tell:

The easiest way would be jot just split test another lander and see whats up.

However, if you want to have an in depth overview of reasons your LP could not perform, use this list below:

#1 - Malicious scripts
If you ripped the LP, make sure there is no clickjacker hidden in the JS. They often hide this in files, that are not in the index.html - The most common way is a long ass text in as comment function.

#2 - The translation sucks
I don't know how many times I saw affiliates smashing thousands of adspend on a poorly translated landing page. It literally makes me cry to see broken images, not well translated grammar or even wrong screenshots/offernames. Make sure everything is congruent and good to go. If its a creative in a foreign language, let it proof read. Even if you did it your self, let it proof read!

#3 - The format sucks
If you wrote the LP your self, but crammed in all the text into it, without spacing out paragraphs after 2-3 sentences each, your readers will get aids in their eyes and therefore leave before you could even sell them on the offer. Make sure everything is perfect.

#4 - Your ad is not congruent to your LP
Your ad is too clickbaity and not relevant to the LP. If you talk on your ad about double chocolate chip cakes and on your LP they will find a recipe for orange pie, guess what? They will be pissed and leave because they expected double chocolate chip cake!

#5 - Heatmaps
You can use heatmaps on your LP to see where they stop reading it. This way you might figure out whats the issue.

#6 - Optimize FB pixel
You can add the page view pixel on all your funnel steps to give FB more data. You can also trigger custom events on lander click and therefore let fb even more know what you want. This is pretty common standard and should be there as a default in your setup.

You can take it further and create LLAs of this audiences, however BH accounts usually don't last long so most don't even bother. We don' either.

This are just a few points of possible things. I would recommend to just test another page first and gather more data, before you make your self crazy.

A BH campaign should be profitable right of the bat. You gain tremendous advantage by running BH already, wasting time on optimising is not necessary imo.

Thank you for this. Is there a specific procedure I need to take when it comes to adding the pixel to a cloaked page?Pretty soon after I added the pixel to the offer, the account got banned.
