Hi guys,
So i started running a campaign at traffic junky 2 days ago.
I decided to run at all available spots for mobile 300*250 at pornhub and youporn meaning i was bidding for 3 placements pornhub footer, pornhub interstitial and youporn footer.
The positions i had at the bidding chain was 1st second and third.
After running the campaign for a bit over 24 hours i noticed something really weird in my tracker.
Clicks is the number of people that clicked the banner to your LP and LP views is the number of people that actually saw your LP.
The LP views are counted by a .js script in the LP.
What i noticed is that LP views were 50% less than the Clicks

I immediately checked the hosting, landing pages, tested speed with GTMetrix and everything looked fine.
Keep in mind that i have used these landing pages in the past with no problem.
After some digging in my tracker i saw that all the visitors that clicked the Banner but never view the landing page were from the same device model and browser version.

What looks extremely weird to me is that it is a really old browser (2014) and also that almost 50% of visitors are using a specific mobile model.
All these visits came from the footer of pornhub and youporn. Interstitial had 0 visits from this combination.
Also some of the IPs of this combo had over 10 clicks to the landing pages and one of them had 50.
So do you think i am getting bot traffic from these spots?
Is it part of the game getting 50% bot traffic?
Or is something else happening?
There is a lot of bot traffic on TJ. It also varies quite a bit depending on GEO and placements as well.
Unfortunately it's just part of the game, and at the end of the day the only thing that matters is if you can profit on the spot or not despite the bot traffic.
You definitely want to keep an eye on the amount of bot traffic though as it is really bad on some placements and you don't want to just piss away money.
Jabong is pretty much right, bot traffic is part of the game and in the end its all about the final ROI. The numbers you see are quite high do, my tests didnt show such high %. Usually it's below 25%, sometimes less than 10%. Can you share the GEO you're targeting. Some GEOs are more polluted with bots than others, especially when talking about mobile traffic.
Thanks @jabong82 & @matuloo for the answers.
I was expecting to see some % of bot traffic but 50% seemed just too much.
The GEO is FR
I do France too, 300x250, Pornhub, Youporn, Redtube and Tube8, on TJ I see 200 banner clicks, on
Sent from my iPhone using STM Forums mobile app
Original poster: Did you check stats on TJ and number of clicks and cost for that? You are only talking about what you see in your tracker, but TJ could have already disregarded those bot views/clicks and didn't charge you for that?
Yes, bot traffic will always be there, but all bigger sources have bot detection systems in place, and they won't charge you for those impressions..... or majority of them.... well, except Exoclick I guess, lol, but that's a different planet.
Just a thought.
I might missed refering it, but yes i checked the stats at TJ dashboard and i was charged normally for these clicks
I don't know maybe was a glitch in their algo or the specific spot.
I am testing other placements right now and the numbers look way better!
