New to FB - Ads approved then disapproved a minute later.
Hey there,
Was just wondering if this is the norm for FB or what. I'll submit ten ads for example, 4 get disapproval emails and 6 get approval emails, then a minute later I get a disapproval email and none of the ads are approved.
Is this normally how they disapprove stuff or is something weird with my account?

If you submit an ad and they disapprove it right away it won't effect your QS.
However, if they approve it then turn around and retro disapprove it that will hurt your QS.
Hence the reason for them to approve it then turn around and disapprove it with in seconds, they are being dicks and know it will hurt your QS.
retrod ads hurt your QS more than anything.

Thanks, figured it was fairly normal with how many complaints I see about the FB reviewers.
I just thought it was weird they would approve it first then deny it a minute later lol.

Just curious, but what are you basing this on?

Do you guys know that by resubmitting your disapproved ads too many times = telling Facebook "ban me please!
" ?

Facebook is certainly a necessary evil. Keep good notes and timeliens and then you will find the pockets where they are "approving like mad" and load up.

the QS thing is real... here's a couple of messages from a chick on my FB thing (met her at a marketing conference).... who works @ FB:
hey! That makes sense that it's in the weight loss niche. They are ridiculously strict when it comes to that. Ads for weight loss are notorious for getting huge amounts of negative feedback from users . I had a look at your account and it's got a very high offensive index so if you'd had ads disapproved a couple times in the past then i can see why it's closed I guess.
Was this niche profitable for you guys on fb?
Definitely open a new account and start again but the key to weight loss ads on facebook is never use words like overweight or language that makes people feel bad for the weight. it's a tough one as we're totally use to poking at those motivators but those ads will always get disapproved and lead to the same outcome. something more about healthy lifestyle and focusing on the positive will be better.
Happy to get some more pointers for you from some one on a relevant team.
Any other niches you're working on?
Happy to help out on anything I can.
Cheers,
then she said:
hey, yeah the negative feedback has a big issue but having the same ads disapproved over and over definitely kills things.
Yeah I thought you'd have some dating stuff out there.
Unfortunately the dating niche is stricter on fb than weight loss but way back I worked with eHarmony on their fb strategy so I do have a lot of tips for you on how to run dating ads without pissing off policy and standing out from the crap.
So the main thing is your targeting. you MUST target females who are single interested in men, or men who are single interested in females, etc. you can't just do females who are single, you'll keep getting ads disapproved otherwise. The targeting always needs to include single as a relationship status too.
for other targeting attributes you can use them but you can't call them out in the copy unless it is a specific niche thing. so you could target single women in new york with an ad saying 'single in nyc?' if you run a new york only dating site but if your service/product is for sale to the general population then you can't call out nyc. the same goes for interests, if you hve a dating site for people interested in say tennis then it's cool to say it but it will get disapproved if you call it out for a general dating product.
here's how to get around that - use subtle hints in the images. If you're targeting women in nyc, but familiar things in the images, so a happy couple in central park, a woman at the top of the empire state building' or thing that conjure up nyc and that they'll recognize. Same with interests, if you want to target women that like tennis looking for a guy with a similar interest then put a tennis ball behind a cute guy in the image.
success stories do really well in the copy too so any testimonials you have will be great to use.
hope this is helpful!

But did she have anything to say about retro disapproval a minute later? Seems highly unprofessional and since it happens so consistently I doubt that it is a revenge thing.

Could also be that they have a team double-checking already approved campaigns and it just so happens you got into their rotation very early.

This shit is happening across all my accounts. They are not letting anything through in my niche at all at the moment. Everytime I submit an ad it gets approved and disproved. Nightmare, becasue I know if I can get these ads up I make BANK.

i feel your pain... it killed our weight loss rebill. we're on pof but its nowhere near as profitable (yet) as fb..... luckily we do wholesale stuff with that biz as well, so its not dead.

Hmm.
I've been using bulk upload.
I sometimes make variations and they'll get disapproved.
I had 500 ads disapproved today.
How bad is that for my quality score?
I use very clean creative copy, the images are 100% fine,
The text is fine too...
Does facebook get mad if you clone campaigns and upload 50 of the same ad?

@caffeineclicks - I can't comment on the quality score, but you may want to consider uploading 5 ads first, waiting to see if they are approved, and then upload the remaining 499,995 ads.

^^ yup. Definitely don't mass upload something when you don't know if it's going to get approved. No point hurting your QS over and over and over.
If you're doing it through a platform/app that doesn't have an API agreement with FB then yeah, they probably don't like it. They wont care about cloning, just the mass uploading. Or constantly re-uploading disapproved ads. The impact on your quality score probably depends on how many approved ads you've had and how they calculate whatever it is they are calculating.
If you've gotten 500 ads disapproved today i'd take a break and leave it, figure out why they were getting disapproved (you must have some inkling....) and try again later. In the interim upload some clean ads for something else so you c-c-c-combo break.
