Newbie and 40 Day challange with Vollum

About me
Hi everyone and welcome to my fallow along with 40 day challenge but first of I will introduce my self and my goals

My name is Filip and I am from Poland I decide to try in affilate market becouse I am courious how it woudl be before I enter to that forum I thought it want be so hard but after read some texts on forum and look for tutorials my thinking change for 180 degrees and now I know it will be hard challenge to make any kind of progress in that sector. My skills in AM basicly is zero why basicly becouse about 12 years ego I try something like AM I bought course from one guy I don't remember who was it but his plan for Am was to build a site connected with Amazon and make good seo to be on first site in Google but truly I spend a lot of money on that and truly nothing happen and that's was first fail in my advanture in AM and I stop thinking about that till 1 month ago, why one month ago becouse I decided to find another opirtunity to make money and make it online couse it is a future.
So I start searching for tutorial and community in my country on Web and find many forums but people there were only saying AM is like fun or game and it will not be your full time job but in my opinion I don't agree with that maybe I am wrong but as I read many success stories about Am I don't think so it's only fun.
Then on one forum I find tutorial how to earn money on T-shirts via Tee.... ( everybody knows that company so I don't want to advertise them) I do evrything in tutorial but I only spend 200 $ on Fb campaigns and designs and no conversion, I know maybe 200 $ it's no so big but in my country 200 $ when converted to my currency it like 500 $ but ok I learn how to use interests and ect so stop crying and then I come here and said it will be last try but before I will go to my goals and follow along I woudl like to many thanks to such people on that forum like Nostros for saying how he perform also for Daliu5 who suggests me where to start from which guide what to read also many thanks for Moderators for setting my mindset and don't give up

Goals :
1.Earn anything but truly I will be happy when I will have any conversion
2. Main goal is to have 2k on month ( I don't think it's a dreamer mindset but maybe I am wrong)
3. Am to be my second job or maybe full time job in futere

OK sorry for very long intro but when I start to write I thought it will be short

Hi Filip! Happy to see that you're starting a follow along!

And don't worry about - your intro isn't long. It tells us who you are and what you're thinking and what your situation is, so we can give you more suitable guidance. We appreciate it!

It is 100% possible to do affiliate marketing full-time. Many people I know are doing it! But before you quit your job, please make sure 1)you have enough experience to be confident that you can make money consistently, and 2)you have enough savings for living expenses AND for running campaigns for the next few months (at least) without profits. Not every campaign will be profitable, but if you have enough savings and experience, you won't panic and make wrong campaign decisions when a campaign does not make money - you would just keep testing until you find your next profitable campaign.

Your goal of 2k/month is very achievable! That's only less than $100/day on average. For a newbie, it's a realistic goal to aim for.

Pop traffic can be inconsistent. It's competitive and traffic volumes are shrinking. So I would not recommend to stay in pop forever. But it's a very good place to start for newbies, because it's simple, easy to learn, and does not require a lot of money. Plus, you're guaranteed to make conversions (I haven't seen a single affiliate NOT make a conversion in pop in the first few days). So what I usually suggest, is to use the 40 day tutorial to learn the basics, and then "graduate" to push or native, or even start running FB/adwords.

Your 1-1.5k/month will be fine. Let's see how it goes!

Voluum's basic plan should be good enough! However, the plan came out after I wrote the tutorial (it only came out last month I think) so some of the domain set up steps may be different. But you can always ask questions - Voluum representatives are extremely active on the forums and will be able to help you!

Looking forward to having fun with you on your journey!

Hi Amy and thanks for quick response and build up my motivation level

Hi Filip! Happy to see that you're starting a follow along!
I think Amy that whole 40 day tutorial is only fundamnets and main knownlage comes from follow along where such people like You gives many advices

As I suppose that it can be full time job and I was right to not agree with people I met, OK but I think I will not quiet my job so quick first of all it gives me money and its not so easy to close own business and fired people
Your goal of 2k/month is very achievable! That's only less than $100/day on average. For a newbie, it's a realistic goal to aim for.
That's sound great that's my main target is achievable but yesterday I heard that in my country taxes are destructive a little bit becouse I will need to give it back 23% vat taxes and 18 % other lol that's a huge but I will try to pass in other way

Hello everyone in my follow along again

Day 2-8

OK today as most follow along 40 days it won't be any super specialities becouse I am waiting for approvals of course on Mobidea I was approved instantly so now I am waiting for clickdealer and Gotzha, of course I picked up one offer from Mobidea from developing countries exactly from South Africa with EPC 0.05 or something like that evrything is in my spreadsheet, and today I am gonna start my first campaign with propplerads, so let's gather all in one piece :

Done :
Create spreadsheet and put all info about my offer
Choose one offer from Mobidea from developing countries i choose ZA with EPC 0.05
Set up all configurations in Voluum ( only Mobidea becouse still waiting for other programs) and of course for popads and propellerads

To Do :
Set up and start first campaign in proppellersads
Start reading about lenders
Hitting multiplies times F5 to refresh screen to check progress ( need to write it to have some fun, I think most of newbies do that :P)

Questions :
Not so many becouse tutorial is very easy right now but I was a little confused when I was picking up an offer on Mobidea as I said I choose an offer with EPC 0.05 and payout about 0.30 I found some offers with bigger EPC and bigger payout but I decided to choose middle way and as Amy said bigger EPC doesn't mean you will achieved becouse we don't know how this EPC was done by others

OK bye bye and cya tommorow I think I will have some results from propplerads, and sorry for my English i know it is not perfect

Hi everyone in my follow along again

Today I have good news and bad news so lets start for bad news After i try to register to affiliate networks such as Mobidea, clickdealer and Gotzha, after one day someone from Clickdealer ping me and start interview with me and after it I was asked about my budget for tests because in click dealer minimum payments is 500 $ for campaign so after couple of I was suggested to be more experience to start with clickdealer but they are open for co-operation

So now I am still waiting for Gotzha to be approved but still don't have any info from them but I will wait so till now I decided to focus on Mobidea and choose more then one offer

And here comes mix of good and bad news I think I do something wrong with setting up tracking on Voluum and Mobidea because after I start my first campaign with Mobidea offer and using Propellerads for traffic ( Propellerads is set good ) I don't get all information in Voluum. I can see in Voluum such things like impressions Costs so basically all information from Propellerads so in logical way this is setup good, but I don't see any information about clicks and conversion so basic infos from Mobidea, after do some research I found that do something wrong with post back url but when correct everything I still can't see any clicks, conversions and other information from Mobidea

Good news is that my first campaign from Mobidea gives me 10 conversion( or maybe I am wrong correct me below I attached screens from Mobidea and Voluum ) I know that I am still in red zone but its good motivational start for newbie

I still can't see any clicks, conversions and other information from Mobidea
Are you using landing pages? If not, then the "Clicks" column in the tracker will always be zero - because "clicks" means when visitors click on your lander to go to your offer.

As for conversions: If you're seeing conversions in Mobidea but no in the tracker, then either your postback is wrong, or your offer url is wrong.

Could you please show you 2 things:

1)The offer url you pasted into the tracker (when creating the offer in the tracker).

2)The postback url you pasted into Mobidea.

I'll be able to tell you what's wrong then.

Good news is that my first campaign from Mobidea gives me 10 conversion( or maybe I am wrong correct me below I attached screens from Mobidea and Voluum ) I know that I am still in red zone but its good motivational start for newbie
That must be exciting for a newbie! Good job!

Getting some conversions is always motivating - and will fuel you in doing more testing to find the real winners.

Now that you know how to do direct-linking, DO start learning how to work with landers! Direct-linking is good to learn as a first step because it's the easiest way to get practice on setting up a campaign, but it will not make you profits in general.

Great progress Filip!

Hi Everyone I wasn't here for some time but I had a lot of work in my primary job so need to focus there also when I come back home my mind set wasn't good to learn, so I decided to optimize my one campaign by my own but first I will answer to Amy post so :

Yes my problem was in post back Url one tiny dot was in url and that was problem so now everything is correct

You are right Amy that was very exciting and after that I read First Lesson about optimization and how to work with Voluum to find zones, mobile carriers etc and after some reading I decide to try something by my own with this campaign

I need to find the right way how to write this 40 day Challenge and it must be more organized but need to think about it Ok so my :

Day - 4 ( Lesson Day 11 )

After I read lesson 11 about optimization I go straight to Voluum and start breakdown my campaign to find out what's give me conversion and what not, maybe it was bad because I don't read explanation post about Propellerads ( Day 12 - this long one :P but as I said my mind wasn't ready for that ) but my curiosity was larger and decided to do it by my own so what i do exactly :

- First of all I found in Voluum that most of the conversions comes from one carrier, so I choose in Propellerads to direct traffic only for that one carrier (correct me was it good move or not )
- Next I also found that most of the traffic and conversions comes from Android so I also decide to choose only one OS ( Android )
- Next I saw that all conversions comes from Chrome Browser, so I deleted other ones
- Next I extract green zoneid from Voluum and include it Propellerads in zoneid option ( whitelisting)
- Next I duplicated the whole campaign in Propellerads and then I used blacklisting ( I extract and exclude zoneid's which had over 500 visits and no conversions ) for split testing

Ok so trully i dont know was it good or not but I try to do something and here are results for 24 h

On top is Blacklisting and below is Whitelisting

And only what i dont understand why the volume is so low ??

Also I need to contact with someone from Gotzha to ask for approval any tips for that ?? Should I go straight to website or find someone on forum from Gotzha ??

Glad to hear!

That's alright - everyone learns differently. As long as you're watching your spend (setting a low daily campaign budget is a must!), feel free to try anything you like!

Another potential issue is if you submit a campaign at a traffic network and it gets rejected. In this case don't resubmit the exact same thing - or you'd risk getting your account banned.

Other than the above 2 issues, test to your heart's content!

- First of all I found in Voluum that most of the conversions comes from one carrier, so I choose in Propellerads to direct traffic only for that one carrier (correct me was it good move or not )
It may be. But the number of conversions isn't the only thing we need to look at. It would depend on the ROI as well.

So even if a carrier is making very few conversions, as long as its ROI isn't bad, it may be better to keep targeting it.

Traffic networks tend to give preference to campaigns that target broad (i.e. target many traffic segments) - you may be rewarded with more traffic volume and at cheaper prices. On some networks, when you target too narrow - for example only a couple of small traffic segments - the traffic you get will shrink drastically.

The comments above applies here as well.

However, your approach can work well also, i.e. by only targeting the best segments to reach green faster. Just watch out for my warning above regarding targeting too narrow (if your traffic volume drops very noticeably, you would know).

I especially like how you have a whitelist camp and a blacklist camp. I would have suggested to use the original camp as a blacklist camp though, and starting a new camp/camps for whitelisting. This is because the original camp has collected more data, which will help in blacklisting.

- Next I duplicated the whole campaign in Propellerads and then I used blacklisting ( I extract and exclude zoneid's which had over 500 visits and no conversions ) for split testing
I wouldn't recommend blacklisting based on the number of visits. To give you an example: Let's say you're bidding $1 CPM, and your offer payout is $2. Cutting at 500 visits means the zone hasn't even spent half the payout!

Instead, I would suggest cutting based on the amount of loss compared to payout. Usually cutting at 2x payout in loss should be OK - e.g. if your payout is $1, and the zone is in loss by $2. If you're getting a ton of traffic and want to limit your losses faster, cutting at 1x payout or 0.5x payout with 0 conversions can be justified as well.

Ok so trully i dont know was it good or not but I try to do something and here are results for 24 h

On top is Blacklisting and below is Whitelisting

And only what i dont understand why the volume is so low ??
The volume IS very low!

Which geo is this? This is on Propeller right?

And what's your daily campaign budget?

Also I need to contact with someone from Gotzha to ask for approval any tips for that ?? Should I go straight to website or find someone on forum from Gotzha ??
You can find a contact here:

https://stmforum.com/affiliate-directory/

You can also do a search for "Gotzha" on skype to find more contacts.

DO point them to this follow-along! That will probably increase your chances of getting accepted.

Lastly, I have a suggestion on how to post images nice and big: Instead of using forum attachment, upload images to imgur.com, then copy the bbcode link, and paste that here into a post. That method works 100% of the time - unlike vbulletin attachment which is sometimes faulty, plus the images are thumbnail-size.
