Optimize with Voluum: Tips and New Tools for your AM Success. Suggestions Welcome.

Let's add a bit of structure to the Voluum sub-forum.

Why not have one place for all the small updates and improvements we're implementing in the Voluum platform? After all, they're being developed because you've asked for them. Don't worry - I'll keep it short and simple - I want to neither spam nor bore you with technicalities here.
It’s also the right thread to share your thoughts on the product – let me know about your ideas and I, along with the team of Voluum experts, will seriously consider them all.

What will happen in this thread:

Every product update will be posted here, no matter how small.

You can give feedback about these updates, but really, anything related to Voluum is good with me and will be seriously considered.

You can suggest improvements or new features you’d like to see in Voluum.

When I find a post somewhere on STM with your feedback on Voluum, I'll copy it, quote you (or mention you) and respond to you in this thread. As I said, I want to create one space for these comments so you know where to go to with your suggestions and can also speak for or against others' ideas.

'Campaigns' tab disappears after opening a report and the filtering for it resets

On a side note, I'm glad you are way more active on the forums now
@matuloo We 100% agree and are taking a closer look at it as we speak. I just need your opinion on the best way to go about it.

There are 2 options we've come up with:

Option (1): Once you open the report for a campaign, or anything else, and want to come back to the filtered list, the browser’s Back button will do the job.

Option (2): Since using a Back button is rather a workaround than an actual functionality, we are thinking of adding an option Open report in next tab - like the one you have in a browser, so you will get a report and will not lose the filtered global report view.

Here's a terrible drawing of what I mean by opening report in next tab:

Let me know which option works better for you.

The new tab option would do the job I'd say, but I would also like if you could simply leave the "campaigns" button in the menu. Or is there some reason for not having it that way?

I guess it would cause problems with storing the filtering options, or?

+1 for this issue, especially remembering the previous filtering.

Matej's 2-clicks can be solved by seting Campaigns as default page when clicking on Home (instead of Dashboard), but there are still times when I do some filtering or search and when I go back to the home it's not remembered. That is a bit annoying.

We'll deploy the Open report in new tab option asap.

There's a reason why you can't see Campaigns button when you're viewing a report for a single campaign - campaign reports aren't the only reports you can select to open in tabs. Campaign / offer / lander / flow / traffic source / affiliate network reports can be opened in different tabs at the same time so having Campaigns button permanently in every view would be confusing if you were viewing i.e. a report for an offer.

You two got us thinking - I love that, thanks!

Yes, you can change the default view displayed after clicking the HOME button. Just go to Settings → General settings tab → Default HOME screen → Campaign list.

As for the BACK BUTTON functionality - it's already implemented and working!
Once you open the report for a campaign, or anything else, and want to come back to the filtered list, the browser’s Back button will do the job.

As February's ended, I want to let you know what we were up to in the last month:

Hey guys!

We've added 2 new improvements to our UI. Let me know what you think about them.

I. In response to the requests we got for saving last opened global report we’ve added this functionality as a 3rd option to “Default HOME screen” in general settings (@erikgyepes, @matuloo - I think you might be interested it that )

This option is connected to HOME button and Voluum logo button in panel.

From now on, when you have this option enabled, panel will save the last opened global report locally - when you i.e. open a report for any particular campaign and then click Voluum logo or HOME, you will be redirected to the last opened global report with all its filtering saved.

Also remember that the BACK BUTTON functionality is working as well. I mentioned that in a previous post here.

II. We’ve added a new feature known from our mobile app - moving time range with arrows.

Now you can smoothly move current range to prev/next range of the same type, i.e. starting from Today and clicking left arrow you will see the results for yesterday, clicking left arrow again you will see them for the day before etc. The same pattern with months and years and custom date times.

Enjoy!
Karolina

Open report in a new tab in Voluum

Issue at hand:

Now I can share with you the 3 solutions we have come up with as they're all available for you in the panel.

I.
You can open reports in new tab and check it later.

There is a new button above the table, and a new option in context menu:

II. You can have Last opened global report option enabled in your settings, and Voluum will save the last opened global report locally for you.
More about this feature in the post above.

III. You can use BACK BUTTON functionality.
Once you open the report for a campaign, or anything else, and want to come back to the filtered list, the browser’s Back button will do the job.

Gonna start piling in feature requests here.

#1 For "IP/UA Filtering" in account settings:

Add in ability to filter out ISPs, as entering IPs and user-agents is far too tedious and limiting with filter cap rules.

Getting hit with lots of Amazon Technologies taffic and other ISPs that have many individual ips with no pattern, making it near impossible to stay on top of and sanitize my data.

Api endpoint to generate a visit cpid

Ability to generate a conversion event from that cpid without going through a /click event

Ability to hard code the global offer ID in the /click, so you could link to any offer without it being in the campaign or flow. Essential if tracking fails for example, it would just route through. Common issue that flags AdWords reviews as some check without js

Condensed mode, that narrows the row height

I sometimes have issues on some reports like referrers or conversions where one column has a lot of long data in, like a long url. It’s Hard to copy this value if it’s in the last column

Export to google sheets

A way to copy a campaign link without all the parameters being appended. A lot of times this is setup as a tracking template in the source, so you need to remove all the parameters each time.

Ability to set a timezone for each traffic source so when updating costs it defaults to that timezone instead of the account set timezone.

Actually swapping timezones should be something not buried in settings, but within or in close proximity to reporting range settings.

Great stuff. Let's keep this thread alive, feel free to bury it with anything that comes to your mind and I'll share them with the team.

Thanks @thedudeabides and @nickpeplow for all your ideas so far!

You mean cid? cpid is campaign ID, cid is click ID. And click ID is what you need for a conversion to be registered.

If you add "cid={clickid}" to lander URL while setting up a lander in Voluum, cid value will be assigned upon a visit. So technically, you can generate a conversion event from a landing page when you pull that from the URL. But if a visitor goes to an offer page (through a /click url), a new click ID will be generated so potentially you'll have 2 click IDs for the same visitor.
