Keyword Targeting On Outbrain

Hey guys,

Has anyone done contextual keyword targeting on Outbrain and would you recommend doing this or do you think better to just start blacklisting broad and optimize from there? Thank you!

Don’t have any experience with contextual keyword targeting on Outbrain, but I guess the best approach would be to go for their standard native ad format.

In regards to the blacklisting you might want to be careful with outbrain since it has tighter limits compared to other native ad networks

Apparently the targeting itself is done using VoluumDSP. You can add a keyword list of 50-200 words/phrases. This is how they describe it:

"Rather than relying on broad demographics, location, and device data, Voluum DSP offers you a way to connect all those parts together by using the Contextual Targeting feature. Campaigns where Contextual Targeting is enabled, show your visitors ads similar to what’s on the page that they are currently browsing. Instead of segmenting your audience and guessing what might be relevant for a single visitor, Voluum searches for keywords declared in the campaign to display only those ads that refer to the web page's content."

Hey guys,
Just to let you know that our Contextual is still a beta feature. I'd would recommend that you hold on as it's being improved and worked on now, as we speak. I'll definitely let you know once improved and ready for you to test.
Thanks,
Justyna
