Is Voluum DSP a bad idea for Newbies? Need urgent advise
Hello everyone,
I'm running into a problem, I have $1000 of the money I wanted to spend for budget in a prepaid mastercard which I thought expired at the end of April but it turns out it expires at the end of this month, so in 2 days. The card is pending approval on Revcontent which I'm not positive it will happen on time, and even so it turns out I need to have a campaign approved before I add funds making it almost mission imposible to load it there. I also opened an account on Mgid which doens't seem to have this problem but I had discarded it as my first traffic source because of the quality of traffic.
I had seen Voluum DSP reading through the forum, but it looked like something to get into later on when being more experienced. Now it looks like it could be the solution to this situation. Just load the budget there and have whatever network ready to go, that if I can use the card on time. I already registered to open the account with them hours ago but haven't recieved the confirmation email back.
What do you guys think? If I managed to load my funds there would VoluumDSP be a good place to run my firsts campaigns or is it a bad idea?

I forgot to mention I was planning on running whitelist campaigns mostly on RevContent while learning the ropes, is it possible to do the same on Mgid?

VoluumDSP is solid as far as I can tell, so it's not a bad idea to start there ... in case you're about to dive into native traffic.
With MGID, you can fund your account without having a campaign approved, so that's an option too.

I wouldn't bet on having everything set up in such a short period of time, especially since campaign reviews might last longer on new accounts + Revcontent are pretty strict with credit card approvals. so even if it's reviewed on time, there is no guarantee it will be approved.
WL doesn't work very well on mgid, and it's a pain in the ass to set up (adding/removing widgets on WL campaigns has to be done manually by your account rep)
If you were planning to run WL on revcontent, Voluum DSP should do + You can run on both mgid and revcontent trough the DSP, so there is no need to commit to either traffic source.

Hey matuloo! I'm learning a ton from your posts, thanks for stopping by. Yeah, I was more afraid of it being too solid as in too advanced for learning there and burning money making rookie mistakes.

You're totally right, I hadn't even thought about it taking longer being a new account and was already thinking there's no way I can make it on time. Thanks for explaining about WL on Mgid, I will wait until I know how to run BL campaigns and haver more budget to test them.

Native isn't the easiest traffic type to master, that's for sure. But we can definitely help you avoid the rookie mistakes, just make sure to ask if you're not sure about something. And Justyna from voluumDSP is posting a lot on the forum lately, so I'm sure she's be up for providing you with more support if needed.

Yes I know I'm getting into higher risk territory going this route. My plan is trying to compensate for that working harder in competition analysis & research for my campaigns, using more of a ninja approach focused on learning and most probably less profit. Justyna already reached out to me so not only posting but also great support already.
On another note, I found out I'll have to pay 20% VAT since I live on the EU and not registered... is that a no go?

You need to have a VAT registered company, otherwise you'll have to pay the VAT which means you'd effectively be -20% from the start. Or register the account for an out-of-EU entity and also fund from there ... if that's an option for you.
