Hi all,
Hope this messages finds everyone well. I’ve been reading up on trackers a lot lately and am struggling to get an answer to the list of affiliate networks trackers integrate with. From what I’m gathering is that networks like Amazon, Rakuten, CJ and Shareasale don’t integrate with trackers. Can someone please help me understand this better. Thanks in advance for your help.
Best,
Hello and welcome to the forum.
The standard affiliate trackers all use the so called "postbacks" or "conversion pixels" to be able to track the sales. So in order for this to work, the particular networks have to support one or the other.
Basically, it works like this : trackers "mark" each visitor with a unique ID, this ID will be passed to the network and in case of a sale, the network will launch the postback/pixel url with the ID attached, in order to let the tracker know that this particular visitor has converted.
This means that the network has to be able to "grab" this ID and store it in their backend, to have it available for passing back in case of a conversion. For networks that are not built like this, these trackers won't work.
I'm not using any of the networks you mentioned now, so don't really know whether they support this or not. But if you search their FAQs for "postbacks or pixels" you should be able to find that information. Or just ask the support.
And maybe some other STM member will know more about the particular ones, so let's bump this thread
Out of the list you gave, only Amazon is incompatible with trackers.
The rest have a way to pass in a unique subid. You may not be able to use a postback or conversion pixel for all of them, but you will be able to download a conversion report and manually upload into your tracker.
