LLAs from affiliate managers - pros & cons?

When you guys get your affiliate manager to give you an LLA for an offer, it can be really nice. It can save you money in testing etc.

BUT is there any con to using an LLA? For example, perhaps the LLA consumers have really been hit hard with targeting from multiple affiliates etc.

If an affiliate manager easily hands you a LLA, it is a decently high chance they've handed a dozen others the exact same list.

Do you guys use them anyways? Do you eventually pivot out of the LLA and into your own thing? Do you create your campaigns from scratch instead of LLAs?

You actually named the biggest problem with such promo tools ... if they were given to you, chances are, they've been given to plenty of other affiliates as well. So saturation can be a problem. Another thing is, that pre-built LLAs and all the other creatives, can be (and often are) poor. They might look good, but that doesn't mean they would convert well too.

When I look back at the all the years I've been in affiliate marketing, I only used provided creatives when it was required to use just those. That doesn't mean I didn't test them though, in some cases they can work for a while or at least give you a benchmark to go by. So it makes sense to test them at least initially, and based on their performance, you can either decide to use them, try to improve them or ditch them completely.
