40 Days Challenge - Tehcino's Starter Journal to Full-Time AM

Introduction
Hello all from Singapore! I started Amy's tutorial on Jan 4 but I was also in my first week in a new job so was moving rather slowly with the tutorial while trying to stay afloat at work. It's over a month now and finally made it to launching my first campaigns with landers (Day 29-32). My goal is to learn the AM basics by end Feb with the tutorial and then decide on my next steps from there (do more Pops, go to Push or figure out FB/Native). By June 30 2019, I should be at least at an advanced beginner - intermediate level of AM experience (ideally this would mean having some consistent green camps). The end goal (as I get burnt out in my job) is to go full time by Dec 31 2019 (earlier if possible) have my independence from the rat race enroute to financial independence.

How I Am Going To Achieve This
Cashflow - having a monthly salary helps so I am okay for now (if needed, I can eat bread only). The conversion of SGD to USD is quite high hah.
Hours - I have about 2 hours before works and 2 hours after work (so a total of 4~ hours a day) along with weekends
STM - I'm generally rather introverted and always felt I should keep my failures/successes to myself but because I have a goal to achieve, I'm putting myself out there for accountability. Thank you for the guidance in advance.

Where I'm At Right Now

Tools

Voluum (negotiated a one year deal for affordability, thanks @Voluum) and it also means I have to do this for a year.
Adplexity

Traffic Sources
PropellerAds
PopAds

Networks
Mobidea (no dedicated AM)
ClickDealer (so helpful - shoutout to Anna)
Gotzha (my AM is rather MIA so left to fend for myself - noob woes )
Advidi (applied but haven't heard back)

40 Day Tutorial Update

CAMPS

Set up my very first camp (DL) mid Jan and saw my first few conversions with PropellerAds (geo - Myanmar).
Rev: $1.56
Conversions: 13
Cost: $8.83
Profit: (-7.27)

82% negative ROI but making my first conversion means ALOT to me - I know myself now money can be made online, just a matter of taking the right actions!

I ran another one on PopAds at -100% ROI. After which I moved on to trying to learn some HTML, CSS, JS and JQ - half of which washed over me so I struggled with ripping and fixing landers but I think I have the basic gist of doing so now (practice with more camps).

Today I move on to offers+landers and have set up some 4 iphone sweeps camps with landers in 2 Geos (Kenya and Malaysia).

KE
Camp 1: iPhone X
Started with 2 offers from Mobidea a few hours ago but found another on Clickdealer so just added that on.
Offers: 3
Landers: 4
Bid: reco was $1.67 so put $2
OS: Android
Budget: $20

Camp 2: iPhone XS
Started with 2 offers from Mobidea a few hours ago but found a few more on Clickdealer so just added them on.
Offers: 7
Landers: 4
Bid: reco was 1.4 so put 1.8
OS: Android
Budget: $30

MY
Camp 1: iPhone XR
Only could find one offer across the networks so thought I'll just try it.
Offers: 1
Landers: 4
Bid: reco was 0.8 so put 1.2
OS: Android
Budget: $10

Camp 2: iPhone XS Max
Only could find one offer across the networks but found one more so just added that on.
Offers: 2
Landers: 4
Bid: reco was 0.8 so put 1.2
OS: Android
Budget: $15

LANDERS
Used the tutorial method of searching for pop-up/redirect LPs with most traffic with min 7 days run. Variations of the following landers for all 4 camps (tweaked copy and images etc). See attached screenshots. Now I tried testing my links but it gave me a bad gateway request and from what I understand from the advice in the tutorial, we should be viewing the campaign urls on tracker but I'm unable to see my offer pages so I'm giving the camps 24 hours to then do my assessment.

Right now - half a day in, I'm at -100% ROI so things can only get better! I'll update once the 24 hours are over.

To everlasting profits, a step forward each day

Why do you think your ROI is low. What are your mayor challenges?

I would put more attention to this. Are you sure you are using correct links?

You need to test the tracking campaign link generated by the tracker. You probably won't be able to render the offer itself, as there will most likely be GEO/device redirects in place, but you should at least get redirected to some other offer, instead of getting an error. Double check this.

I have to agree with @matuloo on this one. Understanding how tracking works (and so, how to configure all the links connected to one campaign for Traffic Source - Tracker - Affiliate Network) is probably one of the most difficult steps at the very beginning.
If you can't see the offer itself and you're not sent to any fallback offer, let us know exactly what error you get. Summarise in a few words how you've set up the tracking links. I'm sure there are many people here (myself included! ) who will check it and let you know in case there's anything wrong.

First of all, thank you for starting this follow-along! I know how difficult it can be for an introvert to come out of their shell like this - I'm the same and experienced the same difficulty in the beginning. Trust me, it gets easier.

You're definitely in a good place - making money at your job and starting this on the side. You've set some realistic goals, but not in any real urgency to "make it" before a certain tight deadline. Try to have fun with all this. Keep things light and interesting and try not to stress yourself out, and you'll get there.

Congratulations on those first conversions!! That's always exciting for a new affiliate. You're absolutely correct - profits will come later.

Good stuff! Looking forward to seeing stats soon!

I'm really, REALLY going to post those lessons on optimization this weekend. This is a hard topic to write about - I kept rewriting them over the last few weeks, wanting to come up with something that's simple but useful. It's easy to look at a specific set of stats and give suggestions, but a lot harder to summarize everything into a general approach. But I'm determined to just get SOMETHING posted instead of being anal and making everyone wait any longer.

So hopefully those lessons will help you when it comes time you have some stats to analyze!

GREAT job on learning to rip and fix landers!

As matuloo and Voluum suggested, you NEED to look into why you're getting a bad gateway request. Even if you're getting geo-redirected to another offer, it shouldn't be an error.

I know you got the error when browsing to the campaign link. Can you please try just browsing directly to the offer link? Does that work?

Something else you can try, is to see if the same affiliate network has an "public" offers that all affiliates are approved for by default (without having to ask for approval for them to open up the offers for you), just take the original affiliate link and paste it into the browser to see if you're getting an error still. If you don't (i.e. if you actually see an offer page - any offer page), then set up that offer in the tracker, add it to your campaign, then browse to the campaign url to see if you're directed to the offer or not.

This way, you'd know for sure whether it's the offer link or tracker settings that is the issue.

If it's an issue with the offer link, then you'll need to ask your AM to look into it, or just run another offer.

Looking forward to seeing further progress! You have my respect - trying to learn all this while working a full-time job is beyond admirable.
