Returning to AM need cloaking advice

Hey guys,

I got back into AM last month after giving it up last year, and started running Pops (thanks Amy for the awesome tutorial!). So I stuck with it and finally got some small profitable campaigns that are consistent, which felt so good and made AM real for me.

Well today my Affiliate manager told me that "I had been caught by the advertiser running to aggressive". So my question is how can I cloak my lander from the advertiser ?

I've been looking into cloaking and Im a bit confused, so there is link cloaking. I guess that is just to make the link look pretty. And then there is the actual landing page cloaking/ redirecting traffic. What should I do in this case and how ?

Any advice on what to do, or anything to look up would help a lot. All the best.

My advice is before you start cloaking better learn first what cloaking really is and how it works.
And with this I don't mean asking for it on STM.
I don't want to sound rude but often people think cloaking is like magic that makes all campaigns profitable and solves all problems.
The truth is that cloaking is just some technical stuff that can give you an advantage but when you don't understand how it works and still try it you are asking for trouble.
And don't get me wrong but from your question it seems that you have no real idea what cloaking is and what it does/how it works.

What should I do in this case and how ?
Research, learn, understand, then you can think about cloaking again.

I know this is not the answer you are looking for but better a honest answer than losing your account.

Thanks for the advice twinaxe , I know where you are coming from. Your right, I dont know anything about cloaking from a technical stand point, all I know is Im showing my lander to visitors I want to see my add and hiding(redirecting) it from others(reviewers, bots and who ever else). I dont think that cloaking is some silver bullet or it will make me some super affiliate. Im busy enough launching campaigns and learning the fundamentals. I just need to cloak to be on a level playing field for this particular campaign if not I will have to stop and this campaign is like 40 percent of the profit I worked so hard to get to . Anyhow, I appreciate the advice and I will do my research before proceeding. Hopefully someone else can chime in and help out. Thanks.

and this campaign is like 40 percent of the profit
Again, everything is better than losing the whole account = 100% of your profit.

I really don´t want to discourage you but the networks and advertisers also got smarter and can catch you pretty easy when you don´t know what to do.
And you are running Pops so you also need a way to hide from Spy platforms like Adplexity.
To be really safe you need to cloak the traffic BEFORE it reaches your lander as well as the users (advertisers) who want to check your lander later.

Few years ago I coded my own cloaker so I know at least a little bit about it and when I am doing coaching I also don´t tell anything about how to cloak when I am not confident that my student is experienced enough for it.
It´s still possible to make money without cloaking so this should be the first goal.
As you say yourself
Im busy enough launching campaigns and learning the fundamentals.
Then learn the fundamentals first, in this stage it shouldn´t be necessary to cloak anyway.
At this moment it probably wouldn´t be a big advatage for you anyway, instead it´s just one more stress factor you have to take care of.
I can absolutely understand your intention but from what you write I still think it´s too early for you to think about cloaking.

What you could do is to talk to your AM and ask what changes you need to make to the lander to continue running it.
Then try to run as aggressive as possible but still non-aggressive enough to be allowed.

This would be the way to go.

However, it is perfectly within your right to hide your landing pages from spy tools. For this very reason, we invest thousands of dollars per month in subscriptions to all the major spy tools and proxy providers. Aside from the blacklist data that we gather, there are also tests that can proactively detect anyone using a proxy or VPN (even if it's a brand-new residential IP address that has never been seen before).

As long as you explain why they might see a different page beforehand, pop traffic sources are very accommodating to you protecting your pages from prying eyes.
