HELP - How Many Hours/Day does it Take to Keep a Profitable Campaign Running?

Hi Guys,
I'm a total facebook newbie but I've been in Affiliate Marketing for over 10 years doing Google Adwords and Pop Traffic.

With both those traffic sources I worked out solutions where it was pretty much set and forget.

* I updated my Google Adwords campaigns once a month (so 1 hours/month per campaign)

* I'm using Automated Scripts for my Pop Campaigns so I really only have to spend time setting them up and checking them once a month
- So setup is 10min per Pop Campaign
- Checking campaigns once a month takes about 1 hour/month per campaign

I could probably have gotten higher profits/campaign with more focus on each campaign,
but this way I had loads more time to launch and manage many more campaigns - so higher total profit.
(and as a side bonus, I'm not glued to the computer 24/7)

So, now I'm currently seriously thinking of jumping in to learn Facebook Traffic.
One of the reasons is I want to start building my own niche product/offers
Not Shopify but similar.

So the questions I have are

[1] How often (i.e. how many hours/day) does it take to keep a facebook campaign running and profitable?

[2] Has anyone figured out a reliable way to reduce this time (e.g. scripts, outsourcing, some other method)?

thanks in advance!

Hi Grofit,

It is hard to say how many time you need to spend, as Facebook now often bans users and sometimes you can't even guess the reason why.

What vertical? How big is the potential audience? What budget you aiming for..... etc etc

@stickupkid - does the vertical make a big difference once you have built a profitable campaign and reached a level you just want to keep stable?

I guess I should have been clearer.
I'm talking about after you have got the campaign profitable and to a traffic level you just want to keep steady (i.e. not growing).

I was wondering what the daily or weekly cost in time/effort is to keep a campaign stable once it is profitable.
I know this is nebulous and depends on a lot of factors .. but I was looking for ballpark.

Can you let it run without checking it for a week, a month?
Or do you need to check it every day .. or every hour?

And does traffic level and vertical you are in change how often you need to check things?
NB: I'm talking about whitehat verticals

The more nich you go, the smaller your potential audience will be. A small audience means you have to refresh ads & angles on a regular base. If you product is more broad, your audience will be bigger so it doesn't need the attention on a niche product. Exhausting your audience with ads and angles means more time to spend on coming up with good ones and launch/test them.

If something is running on the level you want, regarding volume and profits you don't have to do anything ofcourse. Maybe check your cpc's ctr's and cr's 3 times a day? Again this depends mostly on the audience size if these factors fluctuate daily, weekly or monthly...

It's a lottery, really. It depends for too many small details like Facebook banning, targeting bad group, bad offer. To reduce this time, you need to contact the experienced marketer sometimes it's worth to pay even for few words that can bring huge impact on your earnings or test it by yourself.

You can not use submit, forget method in facebook. Even when your targeted demo size is millions, your ad will stop performing after few weeks. Unless your ROI is massive. 100% profit campaign will turn into 20% generally in few weeks(on low 4 figure budgets). Refreshing angles is the only way to do facebook successfully. I would assume Shopify type of stores redo/invent new ads daily bases to keep profits up. The big G always been more stable, you find your targeting and just let it rip until frequency goes over the roof.

@desteny - thanks! And did you mean low 4 figure budget daily or monthly?
@stickupkid - do you agree with having to renew angles really frequently (e.g. daily)?

@grofit I did mean daily.

Depends a bit on the size of your audience. Whilst running one angle/adset I am working on alternatives already, if I have the feeling I exhausted the audience with my current stuff.
But no I don't do it daily, but mostly I am working on Tier - 1 geo's with a 300k audience at least.
