Google Analytics and conversion tracking
Hopefully someone can help me out here. I know GA has an option to show sales, after all I have it working with a Shopify store. However I can't get it working for regular cpa campaigns.
Yes I can pass conversions along if they hit the thank you page. But what I would like to see is the conversions from the advertiser with the payout in Analytics. Is there any way to do this or is it just something that GA doesn't support?

If I remember it correctly there is something called offline conversions in ga.
Here you can manually insert the conversion.

I think this is adwords what you are referring to? Most traffic sources don't really pose a problem, we can track the conversions in the platform itself.
However within Analytics we can only see basic events (button clicks, forms, etc..). What I would like to see is which backlinks brought in the conversions that actually resulted in a sale. I could do this with a tracking solution such as
Voluum, but that will be a big headache and we'll have to put an extra redirect in the links.
I found one tutorial so far which uses tag manager, still trying to wrap my head around it, how to make it work, but I'll update this thread if I manage to make it work. If anyone else has suggestions in the meantime, please let me know. I wonder how SEO affiliates track their income per "source".

To get clear on your problem, is this what you want to track?
Organic traffic > your site > affiliate offer > sale
And your reason for not using a tracker is that you can’t put a redirect link between the organic traffic and your site?
If that’s the case, most trackers have a no redirect JavaScript that you can put on your page/site to track clicks without needing a redirect.
I am not sure about the implementation details of the other trackers, but Prosper202 has an organic tracking mode. Which can track sources and attribute any affiliate sales to the backlink that generated the sale.
In some cases you may also be able to use our purlink technology to track affiliate link clicks without having to convert them into a tracker redirect url. This can be a huge time saver if you have a lot of pages with affiliate links.
If you would like to get a demo of this setup, let me know.
I am launching free concierge onboarding tomorrow, so if this is a fit, me and my team will help you get your initial (whitehat) campaign fully setup and tracking from end to end at no additional cost.

Yes and again preferably within Analytics itself. I could of course change from Analytics to other tracking software, but preferably I'd stick with Analytics since it works well except for the fact that I can't see any sales

The reason you can’t see conversions is because you don’t have the ability to place your google Analytics pixel on the offer conversion page.
There are some offers, that allow the placement of JavaScript pixels, if you have one like that just add your analytics code and set to offer thank you page as the goal. You can pass in the conversation value with the offer payout token.
Most offers only accept postbacks. So the potential fix to this is a little more complicated. Essentially you will set a client Id value in ga when people hit your page.
Then dynamically modify the affiliate link on your page so that one of the subid variables contains the cid. Doing this will allow the cpa network to store that value and make it available to you as a variable for your postbacks.
You can then use the ga measurement protocol to formulate a conversion tracking url, with the cid and set it as a postback.
The cid is the link between the visitor on your site and the ability to mark that visitor as a convertor with revenue data in ga.

Thanks a lot for your reply!
The hack/fix you mention sounds quite complicated, but I'm going to try and find someone who can set it up for me. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

Fwiw I didn't manage to get it working in such a way that I can turn it into a pixel or postback url.
Instead I opted to just go with another tracker that supports organic traffic as well (clickmagick or improvely, not sure yet which one)

@gritaction If you're not limited to GA, setting it up in a tracker can be done quickly and you'll have all your campaigns and their stats in one place.
Organic traffic > your site > affiliate offer > sale
Since your campaign funnel does have a landing page -
your site - organic traffic can be easily tracked with Direct Tracking Pixel. Then visits, clicks, and conversions will be registered in a tracker, once the campaign funnel is up and running.
You can use the same landing page for many campaigns (organic- and paid-traffic type) where either the redirect or direct tracking method is used. A tracker recognizes whether a visitor is re-targeted from the campaign URL or not. If so, the visit and corresponding conversion are registered for the campaign with the campaign URL set. If not - the visit and its conversions are recorded as the event for the Direct Tracking Pixel campaign.
