Affiliate in Distresss: Advertisers with ONLY a postback url :(
Hi guys, we have a little issue...
So everybody here knows that Facebook has a pixel that not only helps with keeping track of conversions and CPA, ROAS etc. right in adsmanager, it also helps optimizing ad-delivery when running the "conversions" objective in your campaign. Making FB help you not get the cheapest clicks (clicks objective), but get the cheapest conversions (conversions objective). It just helps get you in quality pools of traffic that are generally ready to convert. All in all, the FB pixel is an invaluable piece of the puzzle to profitability.
Now there are quite a number of advertisers that do not support javascript or image pixels (like iframes). Meaning they only do postback url's as a way of tracking for the affiliate.
Now this is where we're getting headaches. We asked other with pubs, asked the advertiser's AMs (who didn't even know, dafuq?) and googled a lot, but no one seems to know how to get a FB pixel firing when it comes to these tracking platforms that only do postback-url's. Is there no simply no way?
Would love to hear you guys' thoughts on this! We must be missing something (most likely obvious). Thanks in advance!
Kindest regards,
An Affiliate in Distress

Hey there,
What verticals, tracking platforms and advertisers are you talking about? You could ask their managers to allow javascript and image pixels.

We are prototyping and building an industry first solution to this(as far as I know) called deferred conversion tracking pixels.
It allows you to fire a conversion pixel (image, Iframe or js) in situations where only postbacks are allowed.
This will be huge for anyone running mobile campaigns where postbacks are the main conversion tracking method.
Depending on how testing and final tweaks go, it may be ready for beta launch early next month.

Thanks for the quick reply my man!
The vertical I'm talking about is sweeps. It's hasoffers most of the times, although that platform should have the functionality (I believe) they (the advertisers) often do not support the pixels. At least that's what the AMs tell me. Furthermore there are a few advertisers that have their own tracking platforms.
To name two advertisers we're trying to work with that do not support pixels (as far as I'm aware):
- ResponseConcepts (Leadleaders)
- Big Bang Ads (Eccentric - was Planet49 before)
If you know anyone there that has the know-how to get a few pixels active, that'd be great! So far the AMs are not much of a help (unfortunately).

That'd be a gamechanger! I read in your footer that you guys won't go for the subscription model, that's very nice as well. Please let us know if beta tests go well!

Happy to keep you updated and overall excited to get this in the hands of Prosper202 users.
Yeah due to a new business model we are able to eliminate monthly subscription fees and offer a one time payment ($599) for a lifetime license.

There is a simple way. Use tracker with API, code or have coded simple solution to fire it when network fires their CPA. Won't cost you more than 1k, if even that. I would not categorize this as ''gamechanger'', affiliates been using this since the launch of FB pixel. But you have to understand why no-one will give you out their custom solutions and privately done methods. Takes long time and money to develop them and it does give reasonable edge against thousands of other affiliates.

Fire the conversion pixel on the lander click through. Set the conversion amount to the EPC of the lander so the maths ads up roughly for Facebook.
Anyone who clicks through is almost as good as one that converted, you;ll get a lot more data also

Unfortunately it`s not so easy. Facebook will find auditory, that will more likely to sign up, but not to pay for something. So such optimising will cause your advertiser to lower your SOI rate.

Thanks Desteny, this is exactly what I was looking for! Thanks so much for sharing! There must be software tools with a SaaS model that can do this right? If anyone knows any please let us know. Would be very much of value to the STM community as a whole.

Yes that was our plan B! Thanks for sharing nonetheless! It would be suboptimal compared to a pixel firing on conversion though.

This feature is finally done and ready for launch this coming Monday.
Now Prosper202 can fire your Facebook, Google and other conversion pixels on the client side when your postback fires.
No need for inaccurate data by using click through as a proxy for actual conversions.

Can you give some more info on this?
The pixels work by associating the sale with the cookies on the clients computer, so they know who it is. But postbacks are triggered from the server side, and so have none of the cookies/etc to fire the conversion correctly.
How are you getting around this?

You mean you want me to disclose the secret sauce?
Ok you twisted my arm.
We rely on the connection the browser has with prosper202. When the postback happens, prosper202 knows and can instruct the browser to dynamically load the pixel into the page either when the conversion happens or later on.

This sounds very interesting. Has anyone tried it out, how's the accuracy?
Also, I would assume this would only work if the postback fires immediately after the conversion, before the user has a chance to close the thank you page?

The solution doesn’t depend on the thank you page.
When the person clicks from your landing page to the offer landing page it happens in a new tab. The postback communicates with your landing page. So as long as that’s open, it will track 100%

Thanks for the clarification. Now I understand how it works.

I am lost on this topic too - Newbie is fair to say.
Facebook Pixel allows to track clicks and views etc.
But how do Implement Facebook Pixel to track a purchase made on Aff Offer? (I got no URL to thank you page).
Thanks!

The easy way is to ask if they will place your pixel on the thank you page. Some offers will do that for you.
If they say no or they only allow postbacks, use the deferred pixel technology from Prosper202.
You get the same end result as if they put your pixel on the thank you page.
Here’s more details on the setup process
