THE BASICS OF NATIVE ADVERTISING

What is native advertising? Native advertising includes paid ads that matсh the look of the media format in which they appear and become part of the site's content. That is why it evokes more confidence among the users and does not disturb the user's experience like those annoying banners.

What does native advertising look like? There are six types of ad units in native advertising: in-feed units on social media; paid search units on Google/Yahoo/Bing etc; recommendation widgets (MGID); promoted listings; and in-ad with native element units.

Why are people increasingly turning to Native Advertising? According to Forbes ‚‘It’s estimated that native ads will be responsible for 74 percent of all ad revenue by 2021, and it’s already poised to reach $21 billion this year’’. That’s the deal-breaker, isn’t it?

When working with native advertising, you should ensure your ads match the overall page design and function, and look like other elements on the page. In general, ad units should be compatible with the surrounding content. It’s also important to note that native ad networks recommend products/services relevant to the website’s content and the users’ browsing experience.

How to start making money with native advertising?

Step 1. Choose a reliable and efficient network.

Views:	56
Size:	168.1 KB
ID:	20459

In addition, the full-serve platform gives you access to MGID custom creatives service, allowing the team of qualified designers and content creators to help you create better ad units with higher CTR.

Step 2. Set up and launch a campaign. This process consists of the following actions: sign up and add funds on your account; after the approval by the system, set up your campaign (name it, choose campaign type, select campaign category, upload creatives, decide on the targetting, set the bid prices); once the moderation team approves it, you can launch the campaign!

TIP 1. We suggest setting up extensive targeting options. MGID allows you to target the audience by different variables: OS (Operating Systems), Browsers, Browser Versions, and Languages (Both Search & Browser Language).

TIP 2. Don’t start your campaign with low bids, as you will lose the opportunity to test quality placements. In addition, remnant traffic is another disadvantage of low bids.

TIP 3. Benefit from MGID's selective bidding. Using this option allows you to change bids on placements, not on the campaign level. Giving you an opportunity to be able to identify better performing advertisement and improve the quality of your traffic volume.

Hi, everyone

Today we want to talk to you about 5 native ad mistakes affiliates should avoid making.

Native advertising continues to grow worldwide and generate high incomes. According to Emarketer, it’s estimated to allocate $41.14 billion to native digital display ads in 2019. By 2021, digital ad spending is projected to reach $129.26 billion in the U.S. Looking at the broader regional trends, Asia Pacific and North America proved to be the most profitable sources of income for digital advertisers. Digital Ad Spend is expected to reach more than $120 billion and $110 billion, accordingly.

Sounds encouraging enough, right? In this post, we are going to tell you about 5 native ad mistakes affiliates should avoid making. So, let’s take a look at them!

1. Too high short-term expectations

You should understand that using a new traffic source may not immediately give you the expected results. Frustration will force you to make mistakes and wrong decisions, which you will regret in the end. Thus, we suggest being patient while testing and adjusting what you’re doing until you begin to see the results. It’s important to continuously check and optimize your campaigns.

2. Lack of effective creatives

Keep your consumer in mind while making creatives. Sometimes, it happens that your tastes may not match the tastes of your audience. Thus, split-test the different audiences with several creatives to identify the best-performing ones.

Don’t copy other people's images and translate texts through Google translate! We strongly suggest using spy tools as a source of inspiration, rather than a stock of ready-made solutions. Sources like Pikwizard, Pexels and Unsplash allow you to get high-quality great-looking pictures.

Use images with people, as they are more preferred. Saturated colors and light shades stand out on the page and catch consumer’s attention. It is also important to highlight that the images should be simple and not overloaded.

Think of creative captures and don’t forget to triple-check the copy. No matter how seductive and selling it is, no one will ever buy your “wait-loss produck”.

Localize your ads properly. You should take into account the cultural differences of countries, their mentalities, taboos, and language features. It would be rash to advertise beef products in India, where the cow is considered as a sacred animal.

3. Neglecting platform features

Native ad networks provide you with various useful tools that will teach you about every parameter of your campaign. By using them efficiently, you will get better performance. MGID uses traffic insights, selective bidding, and a price recommendation engine to provide you with more control. These dashboard features were developed as an answer to their clients’ feedback and now they help them maximize the ROI of their ads.

4. Neglecting your account manager

Our platform assigns an account manager to the users who deposited 500$ or more. They will teach you how to properly use the network's features and share a lot of valuable data with you. Putting this knowledge into practice will boost your campaign’s performance.

5. Neglecting your audience

As we've mentioned above - «keep your audience in mind». Your aim is to provide a value-added experience to the potential consumers and make them engage with your content. Use various approaches, that will help you to trigger a user’s emotions and persuade them enough to generate a conversion at the end of the sales path.

P.S. Story-telling works best with native.

We hope you will find this information useful. Please, if you have any questions, leave them below in the comments.

Whoever is posting these replies from the MGID team, please consider posting them as separate threads. That way, you will get way more views ... people won't return to your official thread all that often, because they don't expect such content being posted in it. And I can see some solid tips in the 2 latest post, would be a shame to let them go unnoticed.

Hi, dear forum community

Today we are going to tell you about verticals in native advertising.

Vertical is a type of alike goods that specifies methods and approaches of arbitrage, traffic sources, creatives, and approaches you will use for the promotion of a certain offer.

TYPES OF VERTICALES

MOBILE/DESKTOP installs. These offers imply the subscriptions (CPA) or downloads (CPI).

- Games

- Software and services

- Utilities are apps oriented at the improvement of performance of mobile and desktop devices.

- Sweepstakes are prize draws where a random user becomes a winner. For instance: “Get 100 € for shopping in …”, “Get an iPhone X …”. In general, participants are asked to fill out a form (CPL).

GAMBLING. Bets on sports, poker, or casino are always in trend. Try to promote offers in Thailand and Malaysia. But, you should keep in mind that offers must have a license.

NUTRA consists of health products, dietary supplements, weight loss products, skin care, products that stimulate brain activity, adult products, such as enlargers for men. In the LATAM countries (Latin America) such as Brazil, as well as USA and Canada, this vertical has seen a great success! These offers imply a subscription (CPA) or CPS (direct sales or payment on delivery).

DATING is based on CPL (completing the form) or CPS (subscription with card details). While working with creatives, we advise you to focus mainly on menfolks, as they represent the majority of the audience. Dating is very lucrative in U.S., UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain etc.

TRAVEL is comprised of ticket purchase, hotel reservations, and travel planning. Here, you have a variety of options: CPI (travel app download), СPS (credit card billing for booking travel from the landing page) or CPS/CPL (call center in action).

ADULT CONTENT. The name speaks for itself. It includes dating offers, webcam and other 18+ products and services.

E-COMMERCE deals with promoting online stores and the products they sell.

FINANCES include insurance, credit, and binary options. In general, here you work with CPL. We suggest considering such GEOs as India, Chile, South-Africa, Vietnam, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Vietnam, Slovakia, Spain, France, Romania, and Russia.

This was an introductory post to the topic. Further, we will look at each vertical in more detail.

Hello, STM community Today, we are talking about traffic insights!

At first, you should know, there is a clear country division into tier 1, tier 2 and tier 3.

Tier 1 countries are Australia, Canada, Finland, Norway, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the U.S.A etc.
Tier 2 are Albania, Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Egypt, Estonia, Hong Hong, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Morocco, Russia, Singapore. Switzerland etc.
Tier 3 consists of Central African Rep, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Zimbabwe, and others.

There are a great many people who consider starting their affiliate marketing thing by promoting Tier 1 offers because of higher payouts. However, they do not take into account the facts that there is fierce competition, expensive traffic/leads and saturated market. So, you may not get the expected return for these reasons. That’s why we suggest paying your attention to countries from tier 2. Tier 2 is characterized by huge traffic volumes at a cheaper cost. However, the drawback here is the absence of high-quality leads and lower profitability. Finally, with good offers, it’s worth experimenting!

You should keep in mind that traffic quantity varies from an ad network to ad network and from vertical to vertical. Some of them will provide you with high volumes at lower costs, others with high-quality leads at a higher price. All depends on your goals!

Our platform provides you with convenient functionality. ‘’Traffic insights’’ is a relatively new feature in MGID’s native advertising network. There are three tables: hot opportunities, low competition, and best performing. By studying these sections, you can predict the budget for test and optimization and avoid running your campaigns blindfolded.

Furthermore, with an initial deposit from 500$, you get a personal account manager, who will help to perfectly optimize your ad campaign. Then, you will also get access to our custom creative service. This will allow our designers and content-creators to help you create effective and clickable teasers.

Hello, everyone! Today we are going to talk about fraud traffic

GOD SAVE THE TRAFFIC!

Fraud traffic is suspicious user activity. The sources that generate poor-quality traffic are often server applications or viruses on real users' computers that emulate the necessary browser and human behavior.

According to DataVisor, out of every 100 installs, at least 15 are fraud. Well, premium publishers and CPA networks may have lower rates. But the fact remains: marketers lost $7.2 billion to digital ad fraud in 2016.

As we are interested in native advertising, we will discuss ad fraud. There are two types of ad fraud: those that use non-human traffic and those that use human traffic.

Simple bots or GIVT (General invalid traffic) are scripts from a server. They are easy to identify as simple bots do a routine like switching between websites every 10 seconds for hours. They also use random proxies.
Sophisticated Bots or SIVT (Sophisticated invalid traffic) mimic human behavior. Widespread tactics include imitating real mouse movements and avoiding simple patterns.
Botnets are a large number of residential computers, that generate fake actions. For instance, clicking the ads. Recently, in November of 2018, authorities succeeded to shut down “3ve” botnet that used 1.7 million PCs in order to falsify billions of ad views.

Let’s take a look at more specific bot-like maneuvers.

Click farm. Imagine a lot of people sitting and clicking on ads. Sometimes, fraudsters place ‘’invisible ads’’ behind the main ad in the same ad spot. This is possible thanks to pixels. MGID learned to define such traffic long ago, so you will not be paying for it.
Cookie stuffing allows fraudsters to produce organic traffic as inorganic and get payouts instead of publishers.
For domain spoofing, fraudsters use malware ad injections that represent themselves as a premium website even if it’s not true.
Injected ads are placed instead of other advertisements or replace other ads completely.

How to avoid fraud traffic?

TIP 1. We suggest all publishers should check their traffic for fraud sources.

With limited funds, you can analyze 5-10% of the traffic volume or check it periodically. This will not result in tangible costs, but it will undoubtedly have a positive economic effect and scare away those who will be ready to provide you with poor-quality traffic.

TIP 2. Work with reliable CPA and ad networks that have an integrated anti-fraud system.

TIP 3. Regularly check your performance, namely, conversion rate, retention rate, purchases, and ROI.

How MGID tackles the bot-traffic?

We are a performance-driven native advertising agency, so we care about the results our advertisers get and constantly optimize the ad campaigns. We cooperate with more than 22,000 publishers and use the CPM pricing model. It’s economically impractical to allow the bot traffic to squeeze into the traffic flow. Recently MGID has achieved the Tag "Certifies Against Fraud'" Seal - thanks to our proprietary anti-fraud system and 3rd-party anti-fraud tools. We have been a sustainable native ads provider for over 10,000 clients during the past 10 years.

Hi, forum people

Today Health&Beauty/Nutra/Nutraceuticals remains one of the most promising verticals. Skincare, weight-loss, vitamins, performance boosters, testosterone boosters, male enhancement supplements, and brain pills are among the products being sold within the vertical. But do not forget about seasonality. Weight-loss products sell better before summer or winter seaside vacation.

Finally, based on our experience, we recommend promoting health & beauty products in Asia and Europe (make sure you’ve agreed on decent payouts for your affiliate manager to make it work). In general, turn your attention to Tier 2 and Tier 3 countries’ offers: the competition is less fierce and that would mean that you get impactful traffic volumes at cheaper costs. So it will be much easier to get to the top of the auction and stay there, especially for newbies. Some examples of well-performing offers by GEO are: products for joints and rejuvenation (Albania), weight-loss products (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Taiwan), hearing aids (Czech Republic, Germany, France, Poland, Romania).

TIP. Of course, you can spy for effective creatives using AdPlexity or other intelligence tools. From these services, you will learn that the images showing flabby stomachs and belly fat still perform fairly well for weight-loss. But we strongly advise you to work on your creatives and landing pages. Sending traffic directly to the offer page doesn’t work well. Create pre-landers. Nothing out of the ordinary here – the stories told by regular people accompanied by comments from those who would like to lose weight, regain hearing etc. Also, make sure your advertorial is written in a good language. Triple-check the copywriting! By all means, avoid google translation. You might have seen this landing page, but that’s how offer page layout should look like.

TIP. Invest in your campaign wisely. For instance, set up above-average CPC to get the views you want first. Make sure your creatives are diverse and comply with MGID’s Creative Guidelines. After submitting your creatives, your campaign will be given a rate, according to which your teasers will be placed on particular publishers. To be able to expand your audience you’ll need to create this and that teaser. Be scrupulous while choosing the right picture: the higher your CTR is, the higher your position at the auction. Here are some of the teasers with good results that we liked:

Nutra offers typification (a.k.a how soon you’ll get paid)

DS (Direct sales). Advertiser sells a product to the final consumer at a predetermined cost right now. Nice and easy.
CoD (Cash on delivery). Consumer leaves his contact details, then the call center contacts him by phone to confirm the order. After the confirmation, the consumer receives the command and pays for it. There and then your conversions might appear with a delayed effect.
Trials. Consumer fills out the form on the advertiser's landing page, where they indicate the address for delivery and the credit card number. After the approval, the consumer gets the product sampler for free. After some time, if the client has not canceled his subscription, the product will be automatically sent to him and at the same time and the full payment will be charged from his credit card. This one is quite tricky - make sure the affiliate network you’re working with is able to send you the sale postback at least for the time when the customer is using the sample.

ADVANTAGES OF NUTRACEUTICALS

- fast payments for confirmed leads;
- worldwide demand.

MGID only works with licensed pharmacies and products made of herbal ingredients. To skip product advertising, moderator carefully studies its composition.

Finally, if you want to get a deeper understanding of Nutra offers, invest at least 500$ in the MGID platform and your personal account manager will help you choose the offers, best-performing GEOs, and give advice regarding the campaign optimization.

We hope you will find this information useful. Please, if you have any questions, leave them below in the comments.

Hello everyone, today we will talk about gambling

According to analysts, the profitability of online casinos is growing with each year and will reach more than $74 billion by 2023.

Gambling refers to online-casinos, bookmaker's offices, poker websites, lotteries etc. Despite the fact, this is not a real casino experience, it makes people enjoy a game and relax at home.

What are the common types of online casino games?

Video poker, blackjack, slot machines, roulette, baccarat, craps, bingo, and social casino. The social casino is about players buying in-game currency to play. In the end, they cannot exchange the in-game currency for real money or withdraw their earnings.

What is the target audience?

The target audience of a casino are men with above-average incomes, usually, white-collar workers who like to relax at home with a couple of beers, spinning the roulette, playing cards, or trying their luck in slots. They can afford such a luxury!

According to our friends from Leadbit, the main players are men aged from 25 to 75 years. Then, if you make an audience breakdown by age, then you can distinguish 2 segments: 25-35 and 40-75 years old. Basically, they are interested in movies, adult and dating, social media and entertainment.

As for the GEO, the most attractive regions are Europe (52%), Asia (27%), North America (incl. Canada) (12%), Oceania (7%), Latin America (1%) and Africa (1%). The most active players tend to reside in Australia, Singapore, Ireland, Canada, Finland, Italy, Hong Kong, Norway, Greece, and CIS countries. Today, the CIS region (Ukraine and Russia particularly) has a high demand for sports betting. Try to promote such offers there, for sure!

Where to get traffic?

Gambling is one of those verticals where the blackhat affiliate marketing is flourishing. It includes farming of advertising accounts on Google and Facebook and cloaking. We will talk about this in more detail in our official thread on the forum.

Farming means to create a profile and imitate real activity of the regular user by posting photos, adding friends, and so on. Then, profile starts to run innocuous advertising of e-commerce products, that in turn increase its trust and credibility. This is the goal of blackhat marketing. Profiles with increased trust lull the vigilance of moderators. So, after a while, you can start actively promoting gambling offers through such profiles and the system will not ban you despite the fact the promotion of gambling is prohibited on Facebook and Google.

Actually, there are more and more affiliates, who have earned huge money on such schemes, coming to the conclusion that account farming is becoming increasingly difficult. Even if they manage to push the forbidden content, the earnings are not as solid as they used to be.

In MGID, we also encounter such violations when a user tries to deceive us by sending to the moderation a teaser and a landing page with one content and changing them to what is prohibited by our policy after passing the moderation. We strongly advise not to practice this approach as such actions do not go unnoticed. Find the right offer, create catching creatives and promote it according to our policy

KEEP IN MIND: if you want to promote gambling offers, you need to check the license. Furthermore, different licenses open access to different GEOs. Gambling is forbidden in the USA except for a few select states: DE, NJ, and NV. If you want to promote offers there, your online casino must be licensed. You can promote gambling in the UK or Canada without a license, but the lawyer should check your product first.

MGID may become your native traffic provider, however, you will need to go through an internal lawyer moderation process but it's not as scary as it sounds!

GAMBLING CONTENT

The promotion of gambling as a way of life and the main source of income is unacceptable.

TIP 1. Do not promise fast money, do not use the word free (deposit, for example), exclude, if possible, earnings on the Internet and other phrases with similar messages - this will all attract an undesirable audience.
TIP 2. Use encouraging stories about people who won in the casino. However, they should look absolutely native.

ID:	20775

TIP 3. Gambling offers work very well with push notifications.

PAYOUTS

Most of the gambling offers work on the CPA model with a note “Lead” or “Sale. We suggest you to carefully study the payout conditions. If you see that for one Lead you will be paid $ 120-180, it does not imply every registered user. You can see in the example below, as it is usually described. Only after all that you will get a Lead and be paid € 140.00:

Conversion Flow:
1. New User Signs Up.
2. User Deposits €20.
3. Sale is counted and Credited

RevShare is another available option. It means you’ll get a cut from the casino’s profits, minus payments to the player, as well as fees of payment systems for making payments. However, keep in mind, that if your lead wins, you may have a negative balance. RevShare is a risky choice but if you have enough money, time, and patience – try it.

We would advise you to take offers from RevShare only if you catch the dynamics of spending the leads that you generate. Communicate frequently with your affiliate network manager to monitor the quality of the leads, and it may be beneficial for you to work this way at some point.

Finally, the CPA-model justifies itself in terms of a convenient and understandable economy: if I bring one lead with a payment of $ 200 every 1000 clicks, and the cost of a click on a source is $ 0.1, then I will earn $ 100 on each lead.

If you have any questions, leave them below in the comments.

One of the hottest verticals that bring stable and high income is definitely dating. Someone is looking for love, someone wants a one-night stand, and someone is just having fun without any serious intent. In any case, these dating services are always relevant.

What are dating offers?

Dating offers could be divided into mainstream and adult/casual. Mainstream dating is for people who are looking for serious and long-term relationships, while adult/casual dating is for people looking for sex. In general, such dating websites usually exploit saucy nude photos and streaming webcam services.

Here you can see the examples of creatives for mainstream, casual, and adult dating offers.

Click image for larger version.

Views:	40
Size:	588.6 KB
ID:	20786

Dating offers are also designed for different target segments. There is “Christian” dating, dating services for gays, ethnic dating offers also become increasingly popular etc. Despite high payouts, such specific audiences are difficult to target.

What about GEO?

Tier 1 countries: high volumes and fierce competition. It takes more money and effort to get good results.
Tier 2 countries: lower volumes and sufficient profit. We suggest focussing on Tier 2 countries for newbies.
Tier 3 countries: lower volumes, not a lot of offers but still profitable.

TIP 1. As the competition is too high, we suggest using spy tools in order to make effective creatives, which you should update constantly if you want to stay competitive.
TIP 2. From our experience, you should focus your resources on Germany, France, Spain, Austria, and Scandinavia.

Which offer to choose?

We suggest analyzing the popularity of the website, checking its specialization, how it works, how much it costs, and reading the reviews.

TIP 3. Users don’t like dating services that ask for their credit card information and have incoherent application forms. Try to avoid asking this info.

Types of payouts.

PRICE PER LEAD (SOI or DOI).
SOI means a user has to provide only their email. DOI means a user has to confirm their email and do some additional steps (upload photos etc).
PRICE PER SALE. When a user pays for the membership, you receive a fixed rate.
REVSHARE. When a user pays for the membership, you receive a certain percentage of it.

TIP 4. We suggest you start with SOI offers, and then, with the acquisition of experience, choose DOI, PPC or REVSHARE.

Here are some tips for making the creatives:

- If we’re talking mainstream, we suggest choosing photos of attractive real-looking females.
- Always use a landing page. Sending traffic directly to the dating offers will most likely result in poor numbers. And make sure the landing page has a simple registration form since it does affect the CTR significantly.
- We also suggest using a chatbot on your landing page. As soon as a person opens the landing page, they will receive a message like “Hi! I am X. Would you like to meet me?” or “Hi! I am Jane. Let’s talk”.
- Do not mislead your users, do not promise everything for free and explain the registration process. No one likes a long and complicated registration process, so Facebook login can help facilitate and speed up the process.
- Be consistent. If you have Asian women on your banners, make sure there are Asian women also on the landing page and in the offer itself.
- Geotargeting proves to be effective. So, you can attract visitors via statements like “1285 Singles Currently in “Your Town” Online” etc.
- Some people are highly concerned with privacy, so you can emphasize anonymity.

TIP 5. Don’t discard the push notifications. They have higher CTR and are more engaging.

Hi MGID
In general how long does the ads get approved when submitted for content review ?

And also the certified fraud certificate badge from mgid for publisher ; does it works like brands in revcontent and ensure nil bot clicks?

Hi, everyone

When launching the first campaign, everyone wants to be sure that their budget will be spent rationally and a perfect balance between cost per click, place in the auction and CTR of teasers and landing pages will be reached.

The recommendations in this post are your lifesavers. By following the under mentioned tips you will not only save time but also set up your campaign smoothly by smartly allocating your budget and optimizing your income. So, let’s go!

Allocate your budget for testing and daily expenses

Prior to starting the campaign, decide how much you are ready to spend at the beginning. Take into consideration the type of your offer, available funds, and time frames.
With higher budgets, you can collect more statistical data and determine what is a prime time for your offer in a few days of testing. We suggest starting with at least $ 500 deposit. This amount provides MGID users with several benefits, including a 25% welcome bonus and a personal manager, who will help you optimize campaigns.

Average CPC depends on the primary budget

If you are a newbie in affiliate marketing and start at $100, we recommend you to set a low bid. By doing so you will get more days and more clicks to test, rather than to set a high bid and quickly waste money. At least you will be able to collect some statistics for the first “small steps” of optimization. Moreover, do not hesitate to ask your account manager for assistance. AM is always here to help you choose the vertical, determine average CPC, share traffic insights and answer all your questions.

If you are an experienced marketer with a solid budget, we recommend starting with a slightly above average CPC. So you can get more traffic and impressions. As a result, you will understand the dynamics of earnings and performance of particular websites.

In any case, your personal manager can provide you with the recommended CPC and answers every question regarding traffic, GEOs and campaign settings. Moreover, we suggest you share payout data with account managers. Otherwise, they will give you wrong advice, which will result in poor campaign performance.

First Optimization Steps

So, let’s imagine you have set up a postback, and you have an opportunity to monitor which websites bring the conversions. Without a doubt, every advertiser is interested in receiving more traffic from best-performing sites. Don’t worry, MGID got you covered. Our Selective Bidding tool enables you to manually raise/low the bid on any site.

IMPORTANT! If you decide to delete the site from your White List, we strongly recommend you to check all the subdomains. Sometimes some of them can convert well and do not need to be switched off. When the campaign is working smoothly with high results, it is better to keep working without any changes, otherwise, it could result in a drop in traffic volumes.

Campaign Volumes

After completing Several optimization techniques, you are able to increase the volume of traffic and, consequently, earn more. Hereinafter are several ways:

- Increase bid on the teaser with - «Boost» button. It calculates how much traffic you will get if you increase your bid. “Boost” button takes into account the targeting settings and teaser CTR.

- Create teasers of different categories. It’s important to know that after submitting your creatives, your campaign will be given a rate, according to which your teasers will be placed on particular publishers. Here are the rating types: PG, R, NC-17, NSFW.

To reach most of the websites, we recommend starting with R-rated campaign. R-content excludes erotica, illicit or digital drugs, medicine, nudity, partial nudity, pornography, weapons, and explosives.

MGID reviews the image, headline, and landing page to determine overall content guidelines. We make sure that advertisers and publishers create a match made in heaven. Engaging content builds new relationships and offers additional value to existing audiences. Bear in mind this classification, in order to meet the requirements of the publishers and reach your target audience. However, most of the top publishers do not allow NC17 and NSFW teasers to maintain the appropriate appearance of the website. Moreover, It is a common fact, that NC17 and NSFW campaigns will bring you more clicks, but not all of them will lead to actions. By creating PG 13 and R teasers you can not only increase impression rate but also conversions. It’s better no to rely on sexual and shocking pictures, but instead design high-quality and creative teasers to reach premium websites.

Please note that if you are using a landing page in the funnel, then it must be also aligned with the teaser category.

- Unique and catchy teasers with high CTR can significantly increase your place in the auction. It is also important to know that if several users run campaigns with identical teasers, then more clicks will receive advertiser with a higher CPC. It creates fake competition, which should be avoided in order to rationally spend the budget.

- Expand targeting. It's all quite simple - too precise targeting settings do not allow you to take the necessary amount of traffic.

- Regularly update blacklists, as sometimes low-performing sites start to perform better with other teasers.

Account Manager Assistance

Set up postback. Even if you use a tracker, it will not give you the opportunity to see the real situation from your MGID dashboard. By post-backing conversions, you can reach the most precious performance of your campaign. Do not understate your payouts. Account managers know the system very well, they can help in the most difficult situations, but they are not wizards. If your payout is $ 10, and the CPA goal is $8, but you will persistently repeat that you need to reduce it, then the account manager will have nothing left but to switch off large, expensive sites, add a lot of small, but cheaper ones. If aiming for quick and enormous profit now, you will lose in the long run.

Maintain your Place in the Auction

Plan long-term campaigns. Permanently engage in site optimization, update teasers and do not stop the campaign. By doing so you may lose your position at auction. It will entail the bid increase in order to recapture the right amount of traffic. So you will face additional costs.

Hi, everyone

Any advanced marketer knows how to use retargeting and customize targeting to get even more conversions and sales. Let's see what it is and why these tools are beneficial for your campaigns!

Targeting is simple. This is the process of setting your audience. Targeting tool allows you to segregate the visitors from the general audience, who meet the set criteria. For example, on Facebook, you can choose gender, age, marital status, education, work, hobby, and location.

In MGID, you can customize the audience according to GEO (country, region), browser, browser language, devices & OS. Here is how it looks in the dashboard.

Furthermore, imagine a user browsed your website, maybe even added some products to the shopping cart and then left without making a purchase. You could make a profit but something prevented him from completing the action. According to the statistics, 98% of Internet users visiting the site do not make a purchase. So, the question is how to return these users? Retargeting is the solution

From a technical point of view, retargeting is the following: you place the code or pixel on your website. When a user visits your website, the code drops into his browser cookies. Next time, the user will browse the Web, you will be able to show generalized ads or more customized ones.

There is a standard and dynamic retargeting. Standard retargeting shows generalized ads to your recent visitors. While the dynamic retargeting shows ads with products the user has already seen.

This approach proves to be effective, as it enables marketers to target users, who were already interested in a product or service. Moreover, statistics show that retargeting ads are 3 times more likely to get clicks than regular display ads. Another advantage is that retargeting has higher CTR, lower costs, and better ROI :rolleyes:

Hi, everyone
Today we are going to shed light on push notifications in native advertising

Push notifications are short messages appearing in the user’s browser or a mobile device. They look like alerts on the top right-hand corner of the desktop and on a mobile screen. This allows you to generate high engagement and CTR. Besides, real-time alerts get people to take action more effectively than any other form of communication. According to studies, 51,42% of consumers find push notifications useful if they can choose to opt-in to websites or apps of their choice.

This is the best ways to receive quality traffic, as users сonsiously subscribe to a website’s notifications, what in turn, excludes the presence of bots. Then, with pushes, you also get an audience highly interested in your product or service.

However, take note that preferred for push notifications may vary from country to country and from industry to industry. Here the general list:
- eCommerce (3 PM - 4 PM, Wednesday),
- Media, Publishing & Blogging (9 AM - 10 AM, Tuesday),
- BFSI (3 PM - 5 PM, Tuesday),
- Software&SaaS (4 PM - 7 PM, Wednesday),
- Digital Marketing Agencies (2 PM - 7 PM, Tuesday).

You will be impressed, but CTR also varies from day to day. However, if we took the average CTR for all industries, it’s evident that it is the highest on Sunday and Monday, at 8.2%. Moreover, studies proved that CTR decreases and unsubscribes increase when frequency increases.

HOW TO CREATE EFFECTIVE PRELANDER?

DO’S

- Ensure your load time is fast, as users are not ready to wait more than a few seconds for push notification to be opened.
- Make all the navigation buttons, call-to-actions, service terms, and conditions clear, eye-catching and easy to use.
- Keep in mind that Push Notification has to be short with a clear call to action.
- Break down your landing page in several blocks including a brief description and preparative calls to action. Such strategic moves will make your visitor interested and low the bounce rate.

DON’TS

Avoid multiple redirects and vibration pop-ups as they tend to annoy users a lot.

MGID CREATIVE’S REQUIREMENTS

How to start Push Notifications campaign via our platform?

1. After logging into the MGID Dashboard push “Add campaign”;

2. Using the drop-down menu fill in each field;

Hi, everyone It's time to consider PUSH NOTIFICATIONS. BEST PRACTICES

Push notifications are short messages appearing in the user’s browser or a mobile device. They look like alerts in the top right-hand corner of desktops and on mobile screens.
- Data proves that rich push notifications have 9,71% CTR, while simple push notifications reach only 6,88%. So, we suggest using banner images and various CTA buttons.

Click image for larger version.

Name:	1.jpeg
Views:	15
Size:	30.1 KB
ID:	21121

- Keep it short and clear. Remember that push notifications with 24 characters or fewer get the highest conversion rates;
- Make it timely. We suggest studying your consumers’ habits to see when they prefer to receive notifications and adapt the alert timing to them;
- Make it personal. People like to receive personalized messages as they create a feeling of uniqueness. Studies show that personalized push notifications generate higher conversion rates;

-Tell users what to do. Notification should point at the next step. Use a clear call to actions like “open the app’’, “buy a … “, “get a discount X”.

- Keep the browser/devices differences in mind. Browsers handle push notifications differently as do phone operating systems. For instance, only Android supports images in push notifications;
- Do not overload people with push notifications. Your task is to interest, not annoy;
- Use urgent phrasing: “2 days left! Furniture set at affordable price’’;

- Speak in the first person: “Feel lonely? Me too, let’s chat’’;

- Use flattery - offer exclusivity: “You’ve been selected! Come and get your bathing suit” or pique curiosity: “It’s not what you think! 10 minutes to confirm”
- Ask challenging questions: “Brave enough to start now? Tone muscles, lose weight”
- Use a warning or reminder: “Warning! Do not enter this game! This will be your signal to attack”, “This Friday 7 PM - 9 PM. Salsa band class reminder!”
- Grab the user’s attention by using selective capitalization. Important words will help the user scan and read the notifications faster.

What captions do you use for push notifications? Share with us your experience below in comments!

Hey, Why does MGID Campaign Approval take so long? I have had two campaigns "on moderation" for almost 3 days. This is unbearably slow, especially when you're trying to test multiple offers. I set up a similar campaign on Voluum DSP and it was approved within an hour.

05-08-2019 02:48 PM #19 MGID (Senior Member)

Hello, I contacted you in pm. Usually, moderation takes no more than 24 hours for the content in English.

Hi, STM Community

Recently we’ve reviewed our Indian traffic body in the context of affiliate marketing verticals. The common factors showed us that India is an excellent GEO to make a killing on BFSI, Nutra, Crowdfunding, Gambling and Dating verticals.

Today, we are processing 3.5 million clicks per day in India. That’s a lot of traffic which requires a decent budget. MGID has got you covered with a special bonus for your brand new India campaigns. We feel your pain - and have decided to simplify your objective. That’s why we came up with the UNITED WE PLAY, UNITED WE EARN concept. Just quit playing with GEOs because of the lack of proven record and statistics.

Starting now, and for the next three months, all new users who register via this link and make a first deposit from $2000 to $5000, will receive a 25% bonus (that’s at least $ 500!) and 10% cashback for all Indian traffic from May 1 until July 31!*

For all existing MGID clients who already know how to work with India, and want to scale-up their campaigns, we offer a 10% credit match on top of any deposit from $2000 to $5000**. Moreover, you can also benefit from the 10% cashback for all Indian traffic from May 1 until the end of July!

Let’s start making money right now, follow this link!

* The minimum amount for cashback is $200.
** Provided that at least $2000 from this deposit will be spent on GEO: India. Credit match, in this case, will be added after the factual spend.

Hey, guys Let's consider best selling texts formulas for landing pages!

We are sure each of you is interested in effectively selling landing page. However, it’s wrong to believe they are created by the wave of a magic wand. You definitely need to use a more rigorous approach. So let's consider 5 best-selling text formulas for landing pages brought by MGID that will help you to create effective landing pages!

AIDA

This is the most popular scheme which aims to trigger emotions.

Аttention → Interest → Desire → Аction

Attention can be achieved through intrigue, provocation or paradox in a heading, a subtitle or promising first paragraph of text. There is an opinion that the modern public is oversaturated with the emotional presentation, therefore, it is often better to be calmer, but informative.

Interest. Your aim is to warm up the audience by explaining that the problem is or to make the user believe he or she has an unmet need. I suggest you highlight up to 3 powerful arguments or that will convince the audience. Of course, you can and more but it is better not to overload users and be consistent.

Desire. Here you say that your product or service can solve the particular problem or satisfy its need. A good technique is getting closer to the reader, an expression of an understanding of his problems (this can be started in the previous paragraph). Here you need to create a desire to buy.

Action. This is actually a call-to-action like “Buy now”, “Register”, “Get trial”, “Don’t miss out!” etc. You need to clarify that the user has to do.

Some add Motivational factor between Desire and Action. Motivation can be a limited offer or discount.

ACCA

This formula is used when a person takes time to purchase, usually automobiles, expensive household appliances, tourist or business services.

Аttention → Сomprehension → Сonviction → Аction

The algorithm of this formula is no longer based on an emotional, but on a rational component and works when the decision is made carefully.

Attention. If you want someone to start reading your text, you should get his attention. The most commonly used elements are a catchy title, first paragraph, and good graphic design.

Comprehension. Here you start listing a few of the most powerful rational arguments. You will lose some part of the audience, but you will only have leads interested in your product.

Conviction. At this stage, you prepare users for the next stage by adding even more powerful and correct arguments in favor of choosing our proposal. Your goal is to convince the reader of the correct choice.

Action. There is no need to put too much pressure on the reader. The beauty of the ACCA model is that the person is already internally ready for action, and therefore only a slight push is enough.

ODC

Offer → Deadline → Call to Action

Offer. You know the interests and user’s profile, so you make an offer that will “hook” him.
Deadline. Time limit on product volume, the number of hours until the end of the discount, sales, copies, etc.
Call-to-Action. As usual, you clarify that the user has to do.

4P formula

The 4P formula is considered one of the simplest and most effective emotional formulas, great for social networks.

First, you need to attract attention with the help of bright and attractive pictures with text. For example, you show a photo of a guy with several girls on a yacht in the Mediterranean. Then, you must show that the promise is feasible with the help of your product or service. For instance, the user needs to invest in real estate or take part in a lottery in order to get a luxurious life or vacation. Then you provide with proof, namely the arguments that will convince him that the desire can really be accomplished with your product. Social proofs work very well, such as “every second person dreams.” Well, in the end, you use a push - a call to action.

PmPHS

Pain → More Pain → Hope → Solution

First, you talk about the problem or pain. Then, you aggravate the pain and provide the user with the hope that there are means to solve the problem. Finally, you present your product or service as a solution. Take a look at the example below.

“Did you get a few extra pounds? But summer is coming very soon! If you want to become as slim as your girlfriends try a new tea for weight loss based on pineapple!”

Finally, we suggest you test a few different copies and images. By doing so, you will be able to see which one performs the best for your audience and so to invest more in it. You should not forget that the landing page must be simple, eye-catching and not overload with information. Make people interested in your product with effective selling text and quality images!

Generally, our experience shows that Indian people are not interested in black/white images and images with animals. They prefer real-looking images of people smiling or laughing.

As for moneymaking, images with yellow color have higher CTR as yellow is considered to be a symbol of prosperity and trade. Photos of money also convert very well.

Smoothies, Fruits, Matcha Tea, Coffee Beans work for neutraceuticals, as well as spices and avocado. Indian people avoid using bare bellies or other body parts for advertising.

Photos of colored pills with discount or family ties images convert very well for the Medicine vertical.

As for crowdfunding, try to use images of hard-working children with headlines from the first person "I dream of getting an education, help me!".

CREATIVE’S TIP

Now let’s consider which strategy to follow in order to promote products aimed at fighting the helminth infection. You can see the teasers with high CTR below.

It’s obvious that images of fresh fruits, vegetables, or plants work as well as images of female doctors. Next, how to make people interested and convert them into leads? You can use several approaches. Firstly, you may tell a story about a woman, who had such an infection and how with the help of this product she solved this problem. Or you can write an interview with a doctor by explaining how and why the infection works, and how to deal with it with the help of your product. Your goal is to convince people, so make sure your information is credible.

On the whole, we suggest trying a few approaches to see which one works best for your audience!

GENERAL INFORMATION

Now, let’s figure out some features of the Italians.

According to the 2015 statistics, 48.0% of single people are over the age of 65, of which 61.6% are women and 29% are men. On the whole, the aging population drives greater demand for products and services. As we mentioned above, currently the median age is 46,3 and it’s expected to reach 50 years by 2030. It is useful to know that 40.9% of women in the age of 65-74 years are overweight and 76.9% of them are constant drug consumers. So you see that nutraceuticals product can work very well for the Italian market.

Italians value quality products and good customer service more than promotions. Moreover, they tend to prefer domestic products. So, we suggest focusing on providing quality products and services. Also, make sure your product lives up to the expectations. Studies proved Italian people are highly concerned with the quality of materials and ingredients.

As for households, only 31% of the Italian population lives alone, the majority continues to live with parents. Moreover, Italian millennials are marrying less and having fewer children. For instance, a single person household in Milano equals 52%. Thus, dating proves to be another promising vertical.

DEVICE USAGE (Percentage of the adult population)

97% of Italian people use mobile phones and the distribution of laptop and tablet usage is 62% and 31% respectively.
Average daily time spent using the internet via any device is 6 hours 04 minutes.

E-COMMERCE VALUE

PAYMENT METHOD

It is expected that 39% of the total eCommerce purchases will be paid by E-wallet in 2019.

However, in 2017, a credit card was the main payment method used by Italians while shopping online, with PayPal and other digital services following after. As for the bank transfer payments and cash-on-delivery, they both remain the most uncommon payment methods for purchases.

BEST-PERFORMING VERTICALS

The search trends of the past few days include erectile dysfunction, diet, diabetes, cellulite, and other inquiries related to vitamins. For example, in Trentino-Alto Adige people are interested in the subject of diabetes compared to other regions. Keep it in mind, while using zip targeting to customize your campaigns in Italy. In general, we see nutraceuticals as one of the leading verticals.

Online dating is also very popular. Predominantly, people from Piedmont, Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Veneto, and Lazio are interested in it. On the whole, most Italians are looking for mobile apps. Today, user penetration in online dating is 4.8% (2,6 million users), but it’s expected to reach 5,3% by 2023.

Then, Italians prove to be adventurous, so gambling has a huge success among residents of Sicily, Campania, Calabria, Basilicata, and Apulia.

Finally, money making offers are also some of the most popular ones. The opportunity to make money on Bitcoins looks quite attractive to Italians. Or you can promote investing in Hi-tech company stock. But keep in mind, that you have to make your creatives look credible and reliable.

Hi everyone, today we are going to talk about the hateful ad-blocking!

IAB gives a clear definition of ad-blocking: “technology that consumers use to prevent the download or display of advertising”. It takes several forms. The most common are browser extensions. They can block the request for an ad. These extensions can be found for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Opera.

Other techniques include Domain Name Services (DNS) and proxy. DNS makes ad serving domain unreachable, while proxy helps to reject ad requests.

Why do people use ad-blocking tools?

- To protect privacy by reducing the number of cookies;
- To avoid annoying and unwanted ads, that often lead to scam sites;
- To improve user experience in term of faster page loading;
- To prevent battery discharge.

On the whole, ad blocking allows consumers to control the flow of information to which they are exposed. Global Web Index explains in details the profile of ad-blocking users. So, women make up 42% while men are 58%. Then, as to age, statistics show that most of these extensions are used by people between 16 and 44 years old.

The APAC region remains the leader (50%) in using ad-blocking tools, then there’s MEA (49%), North America (45%), Latin America (44%), and Europe (40%).

Users indicated the key reasons why they use ad-blocking tools. Firstly, they see too many ads. Next, they found most of them annoying and irrelevant. Another major reason is that often the ads lead to files with viruses or other malware. Finally, as I indicated above, screen space, page loading time, online privacy, and battery discharge remain other reasons for ad-blocking.

Recent research suggests nearly half of all display ads are categorized as either aggressive or sub-standard. Pop-ups are the main irritating type of online ads.

What do publishers and advertisers need to do?

First of all, we suggest you think about the consumers, not your selfish goals. They became more aware of deceitful practices, so if you want to keep your visitors, ensure your ads are of top quality. The quantity doesn’t matter but the content does. Sure, content creation takes time and skills but the outcome is well worth it. Everyone needs to adjust to new rules, so your goal should be a unique user experience via providing quality content. By doing so, you will not only improve the CTR but also get more conversions in the end. If you start making high-quality creatives - this will affect the health of the entire digital advertising ecosystem.

We have a special creative department, which takes care of content creation in MGID. Make a 500$ deposit and try it out!

How to build a pre-lander that converts?

How does the easiest online customer journey look like? A user clicks on the banner, then they see the offer page (landing page) with a bright and clear call to action like “Buy now,” “Order Now,” “Subscribe now” etc.

Let’s take a weight-loss cream as an example. The woman is browsing the web, notices the ad, clicks on it, and sees the offer page. The probability that she will make a purchase right here right now is pretty small since she still does not know anything about this product: how it works, and whether this product can solve her problem. That’s where we need a pre-lander. With its help, you can tell a potential client about the effectiveness of the cream, its miraculous composition, and show the before/after photos. Even though a pre-lander adds an extra step in the customer’s journey, it leads to an increase in the conversion rate and allows you to acquire only users interested in your product.

Now, let’s see how to make an effective pre-lander!

TIP 1. Decide on your target audience. Depending on that, you should choose the tone of the pre-lander, pictures, and motivation. You can approach customers with a fear of missing out (“ Do not miss the chance to...”), value for money/time (“Save 50% now”) or nothing to lose like “Try for Free.” Besides, you can convince a user to make the purchase via an interview with an expert. Take a look at the example below.

https://creativemind.media/landing/let's-get-checked/

TIP 2. Play around with formats. You can convey a message in the form of an article, entertain the audience through quizzes or polls, and offer a solution to their woes using a chatbot.

TIP 3. It must be well-designed. Use readable fonts and vivid, quality pictures;

https://creativemind.media/landing/fiverr/white/

TIP 4. Ensure the pre-lander’s loading speed is fast (no more than 4-5 seconds to load completely). The problem is the longer it takes for your pre-lander to load, the lower your CR will be;

TIP 5. Use a clear call to action with an explicit button. The color of the button should differ from the overall color style of the pre-lander’s design. This will make the button more visible and attract more users.

On the whole, the pre-lander should follow the AIDA model (Аttention → Interest → Desire → Аction)

Attention can be achieved through intrigue, provocation or paradox in a headline, subtitle, or a promising first paragraph.
Interest. Your aim to warm up the audience by explaining what the problem is or to make the user believe they have an unsatisfied need. We suggest highlighting up to 3 compelling arguments that will help to convince the audience.
Desire. Here you say that your product or service can solve a particular problem or satisfy specific needs.
Action. This is actually a call-to-action like “Buy now,” “Register,” “Get trial,” “Don’t miss out!” etc. You need to clarify what the user has to do.

If you have any questions, leave them in the comments below!

Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) establishes industry standards, conducts research, and provides the online advertising industry with legal support.MGID also became one of the first platforms to adopt the new IAB Tech Lab solutions, such as sellers.json files on its supply platform domains; sellers.json allows buyers to see a list of the authorized sellers and resellers an exchange or SSP works with. Similarly, the SupplyChain tool records the history of an impression, so buyers can see which sellers and resellers are involved in the bid request, giving more transparency and greater end-to-end visibility in the supply chain. To check all current members of IAB click here.

Furthermore, MGID is a member of the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA), which consists of the leading advertising agencies, publishers, marketing companies, ad networks, and ad tech companies. As a member of the DAA, MGID clearly notifies customers about data collection and practices using an enhanced notice provided via the YourAdChoices Icon or link. The AdChoices have over 200 participants around the world, including companies like: Bloomberg, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Yahoo!, and etc. Check all members here.

Anura identifies real users, bots, and human fraud, thus allowing for better traffic quality and performance. On the whole, Anura has proven to have close to zero false-positive results and automatically stop leads from illegal sources. To read more about Anura click here.

Hey STM members

Often times, many people are confused about what A / B and split testing is, and others might not even realize that there is also multivariate testing. Today we will try to shed light on all these concepts and show some examples.

A/B testing and split testing is the same thing. It enables you to divide the traffic between two or more distinct versions of the website (landing page, the home page, etc). Which element to change (design, layout, headline, picture) is up to you.

By contrast, if you need to change a few page elements and then generate variations specifically for those segments, you will pursue multivariate testing. For instance, if you are multivariate testing, you might create different variations of the headline, image, and layout. A multivariate testing software will then combine all these section-specific variations to produce distinctive page versions and then simply divide the traffic between those versions.

What elements can I test?

There are no limitations to what you can test, including websites, landings, emails, images, headlines, body copy, call to action, etc.

As for the landing page, testing elements will likely include the image, headline, body copy, call to action, design, and layout. If you need to test an ad unit, it’s enough to make variations of the image, headline, body copy, and call to action.

Image

The quality of the picture, its location and what is depicted is essential. It is often said that only high-quality pictures will be convincing, but this is not always true. You can never know for sure which image would have the greatest appeal, so it’s better to test several at once.

Headline

Headline testing means testing various title variations of a piece of online media to find the most eye-catching headlines.

The studies handled by Conductor and then by Moz showed that using numbers in your heading generates better results. Try to use “15 Ways to Speed Up the Weight Loss” instead of “Ways to Speed Up the Weight Loss” or “A Single Fruit That Improved My Metabolism And Helped Me Lose 33 Lbs”. People love details!

Some words or phrases often lead to higher CTR and engagement as well. AB tasty suggests you use the following phrases:

“How to …”
“The {number} facts you didn’t know about …”
“How {insert_name} managed to {action} in {days}”
“The Complete Guide to …”
“What every {target} should know about {subject}”

Another way to add some “color” to your title is to use superlative-stuffed titles that have a mix of exaggerations in them, like “Unbelievable”, “Life-changing”, “Jaw-dropping!”. Personalized titles also work; they show the reader that the content might be helpful for them. For example: “Things You Have Been Doing Wrong Your Whole Life”.

Call-to-action

The Call-to-action must be large enough, noticeable, and clear. We recommend highlighting it with color, adjusting the size, testing different positions of the CTA, and its wording. It can be placed either at the bottom of the page, at the sides of it, or at both bottom and sides. Just make sure you don’t overload your landing page with call-to-action buttons.

Moreover, you can use some special effects to highlight the buttons. One of the most effective ways to do so is to have a pop-up window that says a few words about the product and has a CTA button on it. However, try to keep your pop window in line. It should not pop up right away, give the user some time to examine the product first.

Here are a few classic CTA examples that have proven to be effective: “Buy now”, “Sign up now”, “Add to cart”, “Download now”, “Find more” etc. You can also use CTA buttons that provide a more personalized approach. For example “Get your bottle at 20% discount now”, “Reserve a spot for me now”.

Layout

The most important quality of a layout is how coherent it is. The text must be easy to read; bad typography, incorrect font size, and poor spacing can make reading a real problem. Use F and Z patterns and place the key info and hyperlinks into the right place to engage the reader with the landing page. Use block quotes to help highlight the most important parts of the text. Hyperlinks and CTA buttons should be the same color. Also, do not use flat-looking buttons, add some life to it, give it some volume, add some shadow to it.

Here an example of the pre-landing page. You see we test images and text length.

Finally, when running an A / B test, we suggest changing only one element between versions so that you will be able to find out easily which factor led to the higher CTR.

Hello

We have prepared a short post on understanding which push notifications are compiled into your native ad campaigns. This is a common practice used by many companies in order to gain higher revenue in a relatively short time. Taking advantage of push traffic’s low cost and mixing it into the native will get you more clicks, at a lower price.

These are the giveaways that tell you that native ads are currently mixed up with push notifications:
- Push networks drive traffic at the resurgence at specific times. If you are experiencing low traffic with a sudden jump of 10,000 clicks, and then a decline, this might be push notifications;
- If the push notifications are of poor quality, then you get a high bounce rate. You will see that the time on the site and PPV (page per view) will be significantly less than on the native ads. Generally, low-quality push notifications lead to irrelevant leads or fake leads;
- Several clicks on one ad unit within a very short time;
- As the price rises, the sources grow unevenly, usually push campaigns are cheaper so if a bunch of such traffic appears abruptly, then it means you have push;
- A disparity between the show’s IP and click’s IP.
- As for browsers, only Chrome is able to mix push notifications into native traffic. Safari is unable to due to it prohibiting notifications completely.

Hey STM community,

Today we’ll talk about the two craziest sales of the day - Black Friday and Cyber Monday

To get started, keep in mind that Black Friday Sale starts on Friday after Thanksgiving in the United States (November 29), followed by Cyber Monday on Monday. They both open the Christmas sales season. Traditionally, Black Friday was associated with the peak of retail sales in ordinary stores, then “cyber Monday” was for the online retail segment. However, today online retailers are no longer waiting until Cyber Monday and provide consumers with the best deals starting from Black Friday.

According to eMarketer, Cyber Monday spending reached $7.87 billion in 2018. Meanwhile, Black Friday brought about $6.2 billion in online sales and 23.6% of growth over the last year. In addition, according to Finder, men forecasted to spend nearly double that of women.

As for what customers want, the top products they were looking for last year on Black Friday included: clothing, tech, toys, smart-home gadgets, gift cards, and travel.

Do consumers use devices for shopping?

According to a recent study by SaleCycle, 34% of respondents are going to use the desktop, 17% will use mobile, and 30% said they would use both mobile and desktop for making purchases in 2019.

Besides, 75% of shoppers are looking for the best deals, 20% of them shop for certain brands and 3% choose the retailer who provides the best delivery options.

PART I: How to prepare a website for Black Friday

Understandably, your website will experience a surge of traffic, so you should ensure your website is ready by checking if there are any third-party components, overburdened APIs, web page loading time or low servers that can lead to a website slowdown. Also, make sure you have a high level of mobile functionality.

TIP 1. We suggest you deliver about 3 weeks prior to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. By doing so, you will have enough time to show your best deals, products and to see what items your consumers are looking for.
TIP 2. Do not neglect the retargeting option. Use retargeting to follow up with people and make them buy online via your website.
TIP 3. We suggest you place Black Friday Banners above the fold. This way, users will not miss your promotions and best deals.

Moreover, it would be effective to place extra navigation elements like “Discover Black Friday Deals” that will attract attention and consumers the most interested in Black Friday deals.

PART II: What the landing page should be?

We suggest you using the ODC model, that we described in our previous post.

Offer → Deadline → Call to Action

Offer. Show the product which will “hook” users.
Deadline. Use a countdown timer to show that the offer is limited.
Call-to-Action. Clarify what the user has to do.

The idea of urgency often leads to great results, especially on Black Friday Sales. Consumers tend to be more spontaneous under pressure.

Another effective strategy is to emphasize the benefits of the product. You put the image of the product, list the advantages, put old + new price and use call-to-action like “Buy now”.

Finally, people expect to have multiple payment options and quick delivery during Black Friday Sale.

Some creative insights from MGID team:

- What is Black Friday from the point of view of a regular customer? Basically, it’s all about the queues: first, we spend at least an hour waiting to enter a fitting room, then another hour if the item doesn’t fit. Then about 60 minutes will be wasted in the checkout line. Online stores are the best option to avoid queues. This concept works well on ads. The texts about purchasing trendy items on sale with no shopping lines attract customers of all ages;
- Other than overcrowded malls and lack of parking spaces, massive fights are other major troubles. Pushing on the idea to buy gadgets via the internet can make people breathe out with relief and grab a new smartphone they see on an ad in just a few clicks;
- Focus on the following advantage of online shopping: a consumer has a chance to buy items in a few clicks without leaving his place. No need to waste time and nerves to go to different stores with the desired goods.

If you have any questions, leave them in the comments below!

Stay tuned!
