Offline-Online Tracking (6)

Offline-Online Tracking

If I set up JV’s with offline businesses how can I track my referrals?

Let’s say I am JV’ing with a local dentist.

I refer him clients.

How do I track how many clients I got him and how much he should pay me?

Any recommendation— or tips about doing offline jv’s safely?( Meaning I am sure I get paid my work)

What about online JV’s? What tool/tools do you advice?

Let’s say for example I am working with someone that has traffic. I have the product.

How am I going to get him to know how many leads I got from him trough his/her email list or advertising to his audience?

Is there any tool where I can get to send him auto emails when a sale is made from the product?

Again, any recommendation on which is the best approach to this (in your opinion)?

Have a great end of the year folks!

Hi Matt,
I'm not sure what tool would be best for you in term of tracking if you JV,
but I thought I'd give you a piece of advice I wished someone else had told me before I tried to JV.

Make sure they can convert the leads (i.e. potential clients you send them) into sales!

I've done a JV a few years ago with 2 successful local firms - a lawyer and a converyancer.
In one I was getting paid per lead and the other was going to be a JV.

Both ended up sucking up my time and money for no gain - for 1 simple reason.
Both businesses 'were not great' at converting leads into clients.

I sent them good quality leads ... and they did not know how to convert them into sales.
So they could not continue to buy leads (and I did not make money on the JV)

And looking back on it - if they did make sales, there was no room to scale up since they did not have a dedicated sales team.

From what I know of the industry, the gold standard is
* You send them a lead (e.g. someone is interested in insurance)
* A dedicated Sales Person calls them back within 5 minutes (after 5mins the interest level goes down and so does the liklihood of a sale)
* If it works, they can handle a lot of leads (so usually they have a call centre full of people using a script to convert leads into customers, and who are getting paid based on how well they do convert leads into customers).

If the person you are JV'ing with does not hit those gold standards - and their competition is - bail out!

If the person you are JV'ing with does not hit those gold standard - but none of their competition is either ...

... then there might be an opportunity but you are probably going to have to either
i). Get involved in their sales process to improve it (i.e. not just sending them potential clients but also working with them to convert potential clients into clients)
ii). Actually make the sales yourself and then send them to the person you are JV'ing with to actually do the work.
iii). Not do a JV but just get paid a % of spend like a marketing agency and not base it on performance.
iv). Make sure the whole sales funnel has no human interaction (e.g. make a booking for dental services X at time Y online with no phone call required) and that it works well.

I know this is not what you asked for - but I hope it helps.

In terms of tracking just make his/hers own domain.

The easiest is to stick to leadgen and agree on a rate per lead ... stick to email/form submit leads, so you can properly track how many you refer, since the form would be online anyways.

Another trick I've seen many people use the bridge the gap between online and offline, was to issue promo codes / vouchers ... when someone showed up with the voucher, the business would know who referred them ... certain level of trust is required for this to work though.

How am I going to get him to know how many leads I got from him trough his/her email list or advertising to his audience?

Is there any tool where I can get to send him auto emails when a sale is made from the product?
Depends on the setup again and how you define the lead ... if it happens online, you can use a postback to notify the traffic owner about possible conversions. If a physical (offline) sale is needed, you would have to report the sales yourself, either through some tool or just making reports.

I think we would need more details about what you plan to do, in order to give you advice that makes sense for you.

thank you for the suggestion guys.

I have another question I hope someone here could know an answer for.

basically I want to jv with some people.

they’ll message trough email (gmail)...

...no scraping stuff involved.

I am going to promote services to these people, i’ll get their email address from their websites and follow up with a sequence.

am I allowed to do this?

also, I want to pay them based on how much they do, pay them a percentage... how can I do it?

do I need different emails, a software (if yes which one you guys recommend?)

for example if a guy gets me 1000$ in sales and I pay him 40% i want to pay him 400, if someone brings 2000$ and I pay him 30% i want to pay him 600$...

As far as I understand the laws, it's ok to send them an initial email, telling them you would like to approach them with an offer ... if they say yes, you can go on. This is the MOST clean way of doing this.

Putting them into a sequence straight away without any kind of confirmation from their side, will definitely land you a few complaints ... which could mean some trouble, based on where you live and what the local laws are.
