After 5 days running well with my 1st little campaign on FB, I wanted to test other methods. However, my ads get approved but don´t get impressions. I copied the same ad 4 times more, still no impressions. It has been a few hours since approvement. I read somewhere that stackman copied the same ad 10 times and then hoped one would get decent traffic etc. But he wrote that a while ago.
1. Anybody with experience in FB can confirm this is normal?
2. Do I need to create more copies of the same ad?
3. Create a new campaign with the same ads?
4. More differents ads (10 copies of each?) in each campaign?
5. Raise my max. budget? I bid just 0.01 below the max. bid range FB suggested. For some of the copied (almost same) ads in my new campaign I varied the max.bid, but still FB is not showing ads.
OK, looking forward to some suggestions. Many thanks.
Hi Yesman - I've been having similar issues as well lately. I bid within the suggested bid range and barely get any impressions. I've also bid above the suggested bid range and barely get impressions, sometimes as much as double the suggested bid range. I am also targeting 1.4 million people in one case. The only thing I've found to work is to bid like .71 for a suggested bid range of say .19-.34. I get clicks, but then the ad stops showing again. This is likely due to poor CTR. However, my CTR has been .05-.1 in most cases, which in my previous experience is strong. I'm not sure what's up.
Thanks, but I had CTRs up to 0.375%, the lowest 0.17%, so that doesn´t seem to make sense.
Hope anybody else with experience can share their view on this too.
I am also having quite a bit of trouble getting traffic on FB and also have a very good ctr. Setting an extremely high budget and bidding about 3 times over the max of the suggested bid price has helped some.
yesman what's your suggested bid and what are you bidding and for what country? I usually use this to guesstimate what my starting bid should be..

in greece it says cpm is .09 cents so if im doing cpc i usually start the bid at like .15 cents or usually double the max suggested by facebook
Just bid more until your ads start to get impressions. Sometimes you can raise your campaign budget to 100,000$ and you'll get some impressions.
All the recent threads popping up in this section all deal with the same thing - Raise your CPC bid.
Disregard your suggestion bids. It's a useless metric for a starting campaign. I'm starting my bids at 2-3x higher than the suggestion bids on all my campaigns. If you want to see impressions, do the same thing.
The only time you look at your suggestion bid is when your campaign is already running. If you notice your suggestion bid dropping, then you drop your CPC bid a bit. It should only be used as a metric to decide the "health" of your ad.
if your suggested bid is $1 - $2.50 does that mean you bid $5 - $7.5?
will you initailly actually pay that much or will FB somehow cap that despite your bid?
Wow, amazing, many thanks for the recommendations. Will try this immediately and report back :-)
Guys, switch the bid type to CPM and look at the suggested bids. Polar recommended this and I always look at them now as they are higher and seem more reflective of what you actually need. So for some demo I might be suggested $0.11-0.18 CPC, CPM suggestion is $0.24-0.33, and then I bid 0.37 or something like that. That's how I treat my initial bids. Generally works but can be very age/gender group specific.
I find older age groups often require higher bids to get traffic, so if I was doing 13-17, 18-24, 25-35 i often bid something like e.g. $0.23, $0.31, $0.43, respectively.
In the end you let the data decide what bid you need.
everyone would have their own explanations but from so many useful advice up there i can conclude something, keep increasing the bids until you find impressions rolling in.. awesome tips guys!
