Hey guys going 10 toes deep into taboola and OB mostly OB until i can calm this beast and scale but for the life of me i cant figure out how to make a blacklist and white list for a campaign. when running camps you can shut off pubs but is there a way to do it before hand?
Thanks
- Jeremiah
I can't remember if its Outbrain or Taboola but one of them I'm pretty sure you have to ask your rep to set up a whitelist if you want it, I believe they only want to do it if you spend at least X per month too but I can't remember the details... It was either in the James Van Ellswyck course or one of Malan's Q&A's on Mad Society where I remember hearing it but I don't remember the exact specifics...
I just submitted my first 'real' campaign for review on Outbrain- you have any advice to save me some rookie mistakes?
It has been some weeks now that Outbrain has updated their terms and other updates, they have removed the capability to create whitelist campaigns. On the other hand, in order to run whitelist campaigns on Taboola, you have to ask your rep and have them create WLcampaigns for you.
I'm not sure if the $5k minimum monthly spent is a must in order to run WL camps on Taboola, but I guess you can work this out with your rep
Thanks for that info Platinum, much appreciated.
I'm a very happy customer of yours through TheOptimizer.io... any advice on Outbrain best practices/optimizations/rules as compared to Revcontent and MGID?
yea jack MAD did say it on his Q&A just not sure which one. I really like OB's interface but it wont let me use a regular tracking link so what i have to do is get a pixel and put it in each of my landers which makes it a BITCH for every aspect. especially testing new landers.

Hey Jeremiah and anyone else seeing the above- I figured out the secret to tracking on Outbrain.
(this was from several back and forth's with both their support and
You have to essentially "cut your link in half" and use the back half where it says 'tracking link' on the campaign level, and the front half for each piece of content.
So just as an example, with my
Doing this allows your tracker to send the link where it should go correctly and rotate and all that, but also still have the tracking passed along.
If you don't do this then both places will say 'invalid link'.
So yeah, hopefully that helps next person searching for this answer
