Push vs Pops - a few questions
Hi all,
Been reading up on push traffic to get a sense of it compared to pops. Wanted to know what the main differences are, so far from what I've read it seems:
- Push traffic quality decays pretty quick since you're targeting mostly the same people
- Blacklist/whitelisting is not as effective on push as it is on pops
- Generally push traffic is a hit or miss and not a good way to test landers (better off testing offers/landers with pop first)
Also a few questions:
1. Is it possible to track people that have opened your previous push notifications i.e. if they opened my first push notification can I retarget them again at a later date with a follow up or can I only target websites/zones?
2. Are bots a big issue just like pop traffic?
3. Any way to not target the same push lists if you use multiple networks?
4. How often do people see these push notifications (not only just yours)?
5. Anyone have examples of where I can see some of these ads. For the life of me I don't know why I am not sure how I sign up to them lol.
Thanks,
SP

Actually I just found this: https://propellerads.com/blog/push-n...-do-they-work/ which answers some of my questions but would be happy to hear if anyone has an opinion to share as well etc.

Hello, here is my experience :
Push traffic quality decays pretty quick since you're targeting mostly the same people
Yup, the saturation can kick in quickly.
Generally push traffic is a hit or miss and not a good way to test landers (better off testing offers/landers with pop first)
Wouldnt say so, the landers still have to be a good match for the traffic, so I'm testing there too.
Are bots a big issue just like pop traffic?
Lately, I noticed more bots in the mix ... I guess the networks got greedy again and are mixing in bots to inflate numbers ... digital ocean, vultr etc is in the mix now, thats definitely not real user clicks comign from push.
How often do people see these push notifications (not only just yours)?
Depends on the network/provider ... some really push the limits and slam the users many times a day, which results in high unsubscribe rates and will eventually lead to regulation from browsers directly.
Anyone have examples of where I can see some of these ads. For the life of me I don't know why I am not sure how I sign up to them lol.
Large % of sites I visit are asking for push permission now, try to accept some ... these networks mostly collect them on adult sites, streaming webs, or directly on landing pages ... so the "lower" quality web properties you could say.

By saturation, do you mean banner blindness or the offer no longer converting? I was actually referring to both but realize i should've stated it clearly in my original post.
Would the tricks to test for bot traffic for pushover be the same as pops i.e. put in invisible links in the code to check for bot traffic (think this was in an guide somewhere)? Alternatively are you just marking down the IP of some of these better known server locations etc. since your answer seems more specific or how else would you know it is from vultr etc.?
Thanks for the insights as usual

I will try to answer your questions both from a general and
Zeropark perspective:
1. It's not possible to retarget your audience with Zeropark.
2. Push traffic has much more limited probability of being fraudulent, as people have to subscribe to receive notifications. Also, Zeropark deploys manual and automatic bot filtering. Our compliance team makes sure the traffic you send to your campaigns is of the highest possible quality, while our in-house and 3rd party solutions filter out any suspicious targets.
3. No because there is no possibility to cross check whether a user subscribed to other push providers - the same user can subscribed to 100s of different push services, even things like Gmail or Google Calendar send push notifications.
4. Typically, a user gets between 2 to 6 notifications per day.
5. All you need to do is to to find a website that asks to opt in for push, it is very common these days so you should have no problem with that.
Hope this helps a bit

Feel free to PM me if you want to find out more on ZP Push

Banner blindness mostly ... even though you are working with the "same people" over and over, it's still millions of users so it's not possible to saturate that audience that fast when it comes to the actual conversions. After all, it's the same with any traffic type, even facebook shows the ads to the same people over and over.

Even basic bot checks will help yes, or you can analyze the referal info with some other means, or through some trackers.
2. Push traffic has much more limited probability of being fraudulent, as people have to subscribe to receive notifications.
This is true for "true push traffic", the problem is some networks are mixing in some bots or it's the publishers cheating them in the first place.
