Looking at good hotels that are walkable distance to Centara with good rates/deals at the moment. Anyone has good deals to share? The promo on the official AWA website doesn’t look like a promo at all.

Anything walking distance to Centara will be a bit more expensive ... the good thing is, there is a BTS (skyline train) station right next to Centara pretty much, so you can search for hotels along the BTS skyline, which gives you plenty of opportunities. And this way, it will take you just a few minutes to get there, even from more distant locations.

Are you looking for 3, 4 or 5 star hotel? What is your budget per day?

Preferably 4 stars. Min. 3.5 stars. Budget/day should be around $80-$100

the good thing is, there is a BTS (skyline train)
Makes bangkok so easy, and the good A/C is a nice break as well haha
There is also the airbnb option, there are some really nice boutique spots you can snap up for a good price

Seems to me that the promo price is better than booking through their own website or booking.com?

I compared with the top hotel sites and unfortunately the promo is either on par or more expensive

Ah ok, I only checked booking.com and that was more expensive at the time. Either way the other hotel that is really in walking distance to the venue (keep in mind it gets really warm during the day) is the kempinski, but it is more expensive.
And then there are a couple of expensive hotels in the street opposite of centara (st regis, grand hyatt, etc...).
If I were you I'd just find a hotel that has a good deal on your favorite booking site in sukhumvit near the skytrain if you don't want to stay at centara. Or just near Centara and take grab everywhere.

Take a look at grand swiss bangkok hotel, it is 3 km away from the conference, 4 stars and price per night is around 75$

I would try and avoid taking grab everywhere in the vicinity of Centara as the traffic congestion is usually very bad around there. That is why I prefer walking distance or otherwise near a sky train as suggested. I usually stay at Centara itself but looks like this time round I’m a little late and the prices are higher than usual

You should never worry about getting to anywhere along the Sukhumvmit area with their Motor taxi. Check this out.

We are getting into high season here in Thailand, so hotel rates might be a bit higher.
Anyway, just find something that is next to BTS and then you can comfortably travel to the venue.
(skipping the hot weather and traffic jams)

Try using Priceline with "name your own price", you can get some very sweet deals that way.
