Mobile Subscription is NOT Dead (20)

Mobile Subscription is NOT Dead

As most of you may know, 2018 was a difficult year in the mobile subscription / pin submit space. Lots of carrier complaints and other issues causing a notable downwards trend. While it's down, it's not out.
Recent changes may have caused some to pivot to other areas paving way for less competition and greater returns.

Where are we seeing success? Tier 1 & 2 European Geos
- Facebook Traffic is BACK at it (mostly cloaking)
- Content locking IS still a thing
- And of course, pops with pre-landers

What are your thoughts on the current state and future of the category?
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++

Got access to ANY of the above sources to test any of our PIN SUBMIT / MO FLOW exclusives? PM the team here or Skype me! Bschwartz414 + mention STM

Thanks,
Brian, Director of Network Distribution

Also IVR campaigns show solid performance and less complaints on FB (since it's not a subscription service). We see good results in UK and IE when it comes to pin submits. We still don't cloak by the way!

Not dead yet.. but wait for 4.12.. and Chrome 71 rollout.

The party is over. Lots of companies getting sued, even more going out of biz.
Pocket change remains.

Pretty much got out of mobile this year and switched to other verticals.

Would love to hear those who are "killing it with mobile" in 2018 :-)

@johner911, let's see how that turns out

Chrome 71 is going to make conversations in this segment more tough but not impossible.

Yeap.. so lets do the maths

100 is base.. 20 good countries working nicely 2 years ago

exclude 15 non-working today .. thats 75%
exclude chrome tomorrow .. thats 80%

100 - 75% -80% = pocket change

Ofcourse "pocket change" is a subjective term, but let's say that hitting xxx/xxxx a day will still be possible imho.

I agree with stickupkid here, excluding Chrome will be something. Also, people always come up with new things, that's why it isn't dead in the first place. Let's see what 2019 will bring us, but I still foresee some pretty solid numbers on mobile content. It will not be as it used too be anymore, but you never know what some carriers/operators decide: they need to earn their revenues too.

No, it well never as before. But you have to adapt and place smart indeed. Yes its getting harder and harder but it's the trick to bank still when times are bad (worse). Everyone can make money when business/verticals are doing well, it's the trick to stand out when times are rough. THOSE are the ones that survive!

It is not the strongest species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the ones most responsive to change

Yup, the market has shrinked a lot. Personally, I don't know anyone who is doing solid numbers in carrier billing anymore, and it used to be a LOT of people.

I'm sure carrier billing can still work as a billing method for solid products that actually offer value and users really want to subscribe to them. But for the majority of simple affiliate offers, the party is over.

"4.12 "
... Is that when the chrome update that prominently displays mobile billing costs comes out?

Yup, that's the update.

A sample picture of what it should look like is in this news thread : https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...marketing-tips

To make mobile work right now, without a doubt its about your connections and know the right people in this game.

Still works > yes. Is it easy for the average affiliate > definitely not (except MENA is pretty easy still just modest volume so great for newer guys).

Are there still guys making good numbers on mobile, yes, but only a handful and it's more of a complementary part of the bigger picture.

How Chrome 71 will actually end up impacting things, who knows, but what I can tell you is that Google is intentionally going the extra mile to subdue carrier billing.... take a wild guess as to why.

I'm also wondering why they're doing this ... not that the space wouldnt need some regulation, but still, they probably have some motives ... got any info?

Out of curiosity, what traffic types were you working with in that space?
