Stuck At The Cross Roads And Would Love Some Advice :)

Hey everyone,

I've been doing POF focusing on dating for the last 7 weeks and have honestly struggled for much of it, losing $$ most days and occasionally breaking even. I had one positive looking campaign but got pulled due to bad quality leads. Every morning for the past few weeks its been de-ja-vu, waking up, checking my stats for my new campaigns and seeing no conversions, a few clicks, $50 spent. I feel that ive learned a lot but am just feeling trapped right now, going round in circles and putting lots of cash ($300 a week) into this and not really seeing any progress.

I feel ive given POF a good run but i just cant seem to make it work. A few of my mates who've been doing the same thing with me are in a similar position, perhaps a few $$ profit a day at best, just wondering if other people have had this same experience and what your next move was?

I'm thinking of trying something else and jumping into either Facebook ads or PPV, neither of which ive tried before but will commit at least a few months to. Which one do people think is more newbie friendly??

POF didn't work for me but im definitely not out, not by a long shot, gonna make my IM dream work somehow

Cheers,

Chris

Hey Chris, thanks for posting! I think a lot of folks find themselves in your position at one point or another...

I want to take issue with this line that you wrote, not for the sake of being pedantic or obnoxious, but because I worry this might be part of your mindset. Phrasing a particular traffic source as "not working for you" is bullshit; there's nothing inherent about you that makes you not able to make a traffic source work -- it's all about having the right system for deploying and testing, in terms of your ads, offers, and LPs. There are folks on this forum doing 3 figures in profit daily -- some 4 figure earners, too -- on PlentyOfFish. The only difference is that they implement a different system from the one you're using -- but I can basically guarantee that at one point every one of them was in your shoes.

You're breaking even on most days. That's pretty good! Breaking even is an awesome start and the first step to profitability... Honestly, you're further along than a lot of folks advertising on POF. But, hey, that's bullshit too, right? We're in this to make bank, and breaking even only matters if it gets us there...

Ok, here's my suggestion. Resolve to stick with POF for at least a little while longer. Ask your AM (at a competent network!) for advice on what offers to run, and post a detailed follow-along campaign on the next campaign you launch, with every single step of your process. You'll get some of those 3 and 4 figure daily profit advertisers commenting on your process and helping you along to profitability, I promise. Plus, you'll improve your system for deploying and testing ads, which will yield benefits for you when you take the plunge into other traffic sources.

(Just looked through your history and saw you've got follow-alongs up already. Consider buying Finch's premium guides volume 1; it has some great ideas on creative angles to shoot for in your ads.)

Even with the above having been said, however, it's true that some folks do just get more immediately lucky with new traffic sources... Or their creative process is just better suited to making certain sources work.

Anyway, let us know what you end up doing!

I couldn't of said it better. A lot of people move around because they always think the grass is greener. Read what spdg said, then read it again, it is spot on!

Hey Sapper,

I'm experiencing some similar problems with PPV and Media Buying.
And I just lost my FB account.
I also need someone to kick my ass and motivate me

Don't give up, I'm having the same problems right now... But I can tell you that 2 months ago, I was making $150 profits a day on Media Buying.
I know how frustrating it is... but for being able to make it in the past, even if I didn't get any success at all since 2 months (each of my campaigns fail, I don't have a profitable one running), I know I will do it again.
And so will you.

A lot of people here in the forum are profitable enough to make a decent living.
Or at least are independant for living as a full time affiliate.
Personnally, it's my main goal.

Let's motivate each other...
Don't give up now.

You know, this particular week I had a lot of problems:
My pregnant girlfriend and I have been told that one of the twins she's growing will live with one kidney his whole life, I lost my FB account, my internet connection crashed and I can't work for a week, and above all, it seems that I can't launch any profitable campaign...

But you know what?
Everytime I take some times to think about all the problem I can have... One thing is sure.
It's affiliate marketing, and affiliate marketing only, that will bring me the money I need and the lifestyle I want to achieve for making my family safe and happy.

So, don't give up, I won't give up too, let's stay motivated my friend

Thanks for the pep talk and advice everyone, much appreciated!

SApdg, i'm gonna take your advice and have one more solid crack at this. Setup a 30 day challenge (so people can follow along and give advice, and to keep me accountable) and if after that there is still no sign of life ill re-evaluate from there.

Thanks Mr Green, i reread and will probably keep coming back to reread it until i can get to Profitopolis too.

Thanks Julien, i like your attitude a lot, so yep, no giving up for either of us now! We'll make this work SOMEHOW, cause i too want the lifestyle that comes with being an AM, have to hold each other accountable perhaps.

Hey Sapper great post, just wanted to say I was in exactly the same boat on facebook, ran ads for 4 months or so and best I could do was breakeven. So got tired of it as it seemed like I was bashing my head against a brick wall, and my AM just kept saying "this offer is killing it on fb right now.." Ummm, not for me they weren't.. So I guess I need to look at myself and how I do things.. :P

The grass is definitely not greener elsewhere, it is up to us to work out how to work it.

Got a feeling I came to the right place

sometimes, you gotta think outside the box.... if you keep writing the same types of ads, then whats gonna change?

you gotta network with other ppl, look for new ideas... talk to ppl... and start thinking outside the box you're thinking in.... if you're almost breaking even, hey thats good, at least you're making SOME sales right? so the offer does work... you just need to keep switching stuff up until you find the right combo.... and track EVERYTHING.
