ProperllerAds SmartCPM Cost Tracking
Hi everyone,
So I asked this question earlier in my follow along but no one's replied yet, so seeing if anyone here has the answer.
How do you integrate the {cost} token from properllerads SCPM campaigns to pass on cost data to your tracker?
My campaign url I put into propellerads looks like this:
https://mytrackingdomain.com/in/xxxxxxxxxxxxx?cost={cost}&externalid=${SUBID}&zone id={zoneid}&campaignid={campaignid}
All the other tokens are passing on the data like zone id, camp id, subid, it's just cost that isn't registering in my tracker.
Talked to my tracker support and propellerads support but still haven't gotten it to work.
Anyone that can help is appreciated!
I'm using Kintura btw

Hello!
May I know in what place you put {cost} token in Kintura?

As a general rule, unless you're bidding CPC it's not possible to get any meaningful cost data from the traffic networks, pretty much none of them. If you are on CPM bidding, you will get just the CPM bid passed to the tracker, which is useless ... even more so when you consider the click loss that's present everywhere. What most of us are doing is to use CPC pricing in our trackers, we let the campaign run for a while, compare how much visits we registered in the tracker and how much we were billed, count the CPC based on that and use it. Not a perfect solution, but pretty much the best it can get.

Here's the campaign link Kintura generates. cost={cost}, as that's the macro Kintura uses

Hmm ok that's good to know. I will try that. Also found a spreadsheet to compare traffic source and tracker data side by side by zone's, will try that out as well.

Yup, this is the best option, as long as the source has some kind of export ... csv or whatever format, thats the most accurate data you can work with. It's just too time consuming and can become an overkill with any decent amount of campaigns... but yes, it's a very good option. I got a similar excell sheet that I'm using, when I need precise zone/placements analysis.

Actually, PropellerAds is one of the very few networks that CAN pass costs to the tracker semi-accurately. There WILL be inaccuracies - the actual cost will be higher than what's reflected in the tracker. But that's already big progress compared to most other traffic sources (in this particular regard).
The {cost} token will be replaced by an actual value by propellerads with each impression - no troubleshooting necessary there.
It must be an issue with the tracker itself. If you're certain that the parameter "cost=" is the correct one, then costs should show up in the tracker. It's very strange that it doesn't.
*lightbulb just went off* Could you please post a screen capture of your propellerads settings in your tracker? I want to see if you've put the cost token in the correct field.
That's the only thing I could think of for the time being. Hoping that would be it!

You're right, it's an issue with the tracker.
I switched over to
Binom earlier today and the costs are getting passed on... I guess Kintura's still a bit too in development for proper use atm.
Going to stick to
Binom for now, its great so far
