Western dropshipping platforms?
Hello,
I was wondering if there have been any success stories with alternative e-commerce platforms such as spocket, zentrada, etc that source from European or US suppliers.
As the major issue with the Chinese platforms seems to be delivery times and inability to control quality, not to mention the latest uncertainty regarding epacket, I would expect people to start trying out alternatives more local to the target markets. Yet I hardly hear about them in the various FB groups or STM and keep hearing about the same platforms focused on Chinese suppliers.
Is it that these western dropshipping platforms don't have the product variety (or profit margin) to support the affiliate e-commerce model or is it that people have really not tried to diversify yet?
Thanks,
Alex

if it ain't broke don't fix it. Why try something else when there is aliexpress?
Maybe people is trying and figuring out new platforms or loopholes like you've said because of some policy changes happened recently.

Well, in order to find new products that maybe not everyone else is selling and to also deal with the major pain point of long delivery times. These 2 seem to be major competitive advantages in the ecommerce space.

Hey guys, I'm heavily involved in Dropshipping (Shopify Partner) and Aliexpress. I've looked into other sources
Thought I'd contribute here.
Is it that these western dropshipping platforms don't have the product variety (or profit margin) to support the affiliate e-commerce model or is it that people have really not tried to diversify yet?
Here's the truth: No, they do not have the product variety. Spocket and the other sources are
using the same suppliers you'll see on Aliexpress
I've spoken in depth with their team, they admitted that the majority of their suppliers are just Aliexpress sellers, or people who've take then initiative to mass order products from Ali, to Europe etc. You're getting the same quality products, exception being some small time manufacturer in Europe here and there.
Good Aliexpress stores will ship to U.S -> 9-12 days.
Looking at Spocket and other solutions.. The shipping was actually around the same time. Most suppliers also charge like 8$ shipping fees in Spocket too.
In conclusion: Western Dropshipping Solutions (that work with
Shopify) Are providing no advantage right now.
My advice, would be to test a lot of Aliexpress products, find what works. Then move to Alibaba, import that product in bulk to a warehouse etc. Then ship it from U.S etc. This poses a lot of work, and you'd need to be sure what product works.
Aliexpress have also launched a new 'Dropshipping' function on their site too. I don't think e-packet will suddenly vanish.

Hi Flexmaster, maybe they are also buying from other sites like taobao and other local chinese sites that don't ship worldwide. I live in Macau/ China and nobody here uses aliexpress. We buy from taobao when we want "cheap stuff"and from tmall when we want branded stuff. All the products that you can find in aliexpress are also on sale in taobao but much cheaper. Of course, I understand that aliexpress has a big advantage for dropshipping as they ship worldwide, but I believe people who buys in bulk is either from taobao or alibaba.

Very good advice!
Just want to add: With the heavy taxes Trump has put on a lot of the goods being imported from China, it would be worth looking into "re-routing" from Canada or Mexico.

There are people still making low 5-figures/day with aliexpress. You just need to make a niche store, generic stores are saturated not aliexpress.
