what's up hustlers??
Curious about the outbrain affiliates lately. Don't really hear about them in any forums everyones doing rev but yet outbrain has WAY more volume.
Just wondering if anyone is making it work with outbrain or are they kinda like taboola in the sense that its quite strict on its policies.
Don't be shy let us know!

I'm thinking of trying them... I am hesitant to spend more money 'learning' any new platforms (only on MGID and RevC so far) but at the same time, I like that Outbrain and Taboola are more high-quality, less bots, etc from what I hear. I know you pay way more for that but I think I want to try them out just to see if they 'mesh' with my style better. It seems to me like one person could do really well on one network based upon their skills/inclinations/etc and another person could do really well on another network. I like making videos/quizzes/email autoresponder funnels/etc so I kind of like the idea of competing on those big sites like MSN/etc with the big dawgs. Expensive to try I'm sure though!
But yeah- I would welcome anyone's thoughts on Outbrain/Taboola as well!
Hey guys.
To my personal experience with native ads, Taboola and OB bring the best traffic.
I ran traffic from Rev.Content, Content.ad, MGID, Taboola and OB- and I see that quality from the last two sources stands out.
In terms of compliance - yes, both Taboola and OB are tough.
But it doesn't mean that it's impossible to run aggressive stuff there.
This traffic a bit more expensive but it's more stable in comparison with other platforms.
No offense to MGID, but one day I hit $14 EPC on their traffic other day, $3 EPC with the same traffic.
Bottom line - both platforms are risky if you are talking about the budget.
It's possible to run aggressive stuff on both platforms - it's a fact and people do it.
It's definitely worth to test.
I can tell you that usually the big publishers use Outbrain and Taboola (not only, but use them as their main sources). At least on our network.
Of course they are more strict and more expensive but they can also bring you larger volume and quality tends to be good.
To my experience Outbrain arent as strict as Taboola but rest assured affiliates are using them.
eCommerce, Health, Finance all do well there.
Thank you gentlemen for your responses it helps more than you know. I will continue to work with revcontent and definitely try my best to scale on there before moving onto OB.
anyone know if they have whitelists/blacklists like revcontent?
-Jeremiah
I was just looking on their site and I believe they do. I think you can see the actual website name too if I'm not mistaken. Their faq page has quite a bit of decent info.
After seeing the above comments and looking at the sites, I think I'm going to try Outbrain first rather than Taboola. Still just debating whether to start now in addition to MGID/RevC or wait and keep only focusing on those two.
I'll admit I have had a lot of trouble with Revcontent so far. I just can't seem to get a steady flow of traffic. 75% of my campaigns get hardly any clicks or impressions even when I raise the bid to crazy levels, and the other 25% just spend like crazy so fast I can barely pause the widgets.
Obviously it works for tons of other folks so I'm sure its just me, but look forward to cracking that nut that is for sure! lol
Actually that makes me curious to know who here is making it work on revcontent? Just a simple "me" in a comment is enough if you have any tips to share that would be great as well
ALLSSOOOOO when creating my outbrain camp it wouldnt let me use my URL that my tracker gave me. Any way around that?
- Jeremiah
Hey mrinfinity- yep, that mirrors my experience exactly. Sounds like we're in the same boat.
Just commented on your other excellent thread too.
One thing that's been helpful for me is manual spying on Revcontent. I go to Breitbart, Zero Hedge, CBS, etc and see what ads/offers are up. I notice a lot of stuff I don't see on Adplexity for whatever reason (I'm sure its on Adplexity, I just don't notice it I guess).
Have tried manual spying on MGID sites too but can't find a lot of them other than Liveleak.
I am thinking I am going to try Outbrain as well. I don't want to 'jump around' too much, but I really like the idea of high quality traffic where I know the sites its running on, and I don't mind building big whitehat type sites and listicals and videos and quizzes and that sort of stuff. (although I'm sure I'll keep going to battle each day in the MGID and Revc wars as well
)
see i would do manual spying but my main focus is EU geo's so its alot harder to not use a spy tool...
-Jeremiah
Hey Jeremiah-
Yeah that makes it tougher... all I can think of would be to find the site names common on EU campaigns in Adplexity, then use a VPN to spy manually from those countries.
Or if you're based in Eastern Europe your own IP address should show the same ads.
Yes keep us updated man! Hope they go well!
Well gentlemen, to continue our Revcontent discussion... I definitely got what I asked for today lol... had been so frustrated with no traffic that I started like six campaigns and put the bids up high on all of them, then today as soon as they got approved and started going I got a tsunami of traffic... I swear its like riding a bucking bronco but I guess that's what I asked for so I shouldn't complain!
Anyway of the two different verticals one was a horrible failure and I have paused all the campaigns. The other I got a couple conversions already so that's not bad and kept those going. Of those three individual campaigns two spent their whole budget (plus some) within about 1.5 hours. The third is going at a nice easy pace which I like.
But yeah that Revcontent just always catches me by surprise though... it'll be drip, drip, drip then suddenly TIDAL WAVE and I feel like I'm hanging on for dear life...
I've noticed one thing though at this point which is that on Revcontent I've definitely had the most success with Conservative_News. Both as a topic and when selecting the individual Brands and in terms of offers.
The other vertical today bombed horribly with like 2% lp ctr's but all the Conservative_News type stuff had a decent LP rate despite it being the first day and getting that tidal wave of traffic like that..
Anyway will keep you guys updated!
PS I started the process of signing up with Outbrain but if I understand right they want you to create a campaign right off the bat as part of the signup process so I'm gonna wait until I finish a really good, above-board, super-whitehat one I'm working on.
Yes definitely block push! They have a disclaimer in their FAQ not to select push unless you can spend 500$ per day on the campaign, so if it spends that much on a 100$ a day budget they won't reimburse you (happened to me when I screwed up and fat-fingered something and selected 'all' one time on topics).
But yeah, so far on my two Tier 1 attempts I haven't done very well. My only Tier 3 was like 1% LP CTR and didn't go well either. I did one Tier 2 and it went okay but shut it down. On all of those I picked like 4-9 Topics as per my rep's suggestion. She said if you do one of those lists with only one topic selected its hard to get enough traffic.
My best success in actually spending something close to what I want and also getting normal LP CTR's has been to do a single Topic or single big Brand, with either US selected or several other geo's that add up to a decent combined population.
My biggest challenge so far has been finding the right bid so that the clicks are bought at a good pace. Its always 100$ in an hour or two or 3-6$ over 24 hours...
And then yeah, I guess one way one could do it would be to just pick one topic and blacklist tier 3 widgets with their template, I would think that would still leave a decent number of widgets even with just one topic selected.
Or you could set a rule in the optimizer to block widgets at 10 clicks and no lp clicks, or even 4 clicks and no lp clicks if its on a topic and you're worried about bad Tier-3 widgets.
I don't know though I have still yet to have a profitable day on Revcontent so all just guesses on my part
Hey everyone- wanted to update this thread too in case any natives guys read it later.
After mid 5 figures spend/earnings on Revcontent over the last two months once I finally figured it out, I absolutely LOVE the platform, and am really glad I stuck with it.
Don't give up at the beginning, you just gotta find a couple brands or one topic that works for you and build from there.
I'm still using MGID a little bit, and I have had fantastic experiences with all the people who work there, and I love how supportive they are of affiliates, but the one thing I don't like is that I can't ever know what sites I'm getting traffic from. I don't think its possible to determine this via a tracker or optimizer like with Revcontent. Certainly there's affiliates killing it on MGID so this is just a quirk of my own not a criticism of theirs, but I just really like having total clarity on where the clicks are coming from.
Been using Outbrain for a little while too now and liking it as well.
The Outbrain dashboard literally lets you see the identity of plus click on every traffic source you have clicks from and see exactly what the site looks like instantly, which is fantastic for quickly deciding if you want to raise or lower coefficients.
So yeah, I plan to keep focusing primarily on Revcontent from here, plus Outbrain, and also want to sign up for Taboola soon too, and a couple other smaller native networks
hey guys, i just tried to open taboola account. is it true that you have to had at least USD2000 deposit to open an account?
thanks jack! i went on to used VPN and sign up for the US account
