I got the AmEx Business Gold card back in August, and racked up like $30k in advertising spend on it from Facebook. I just checked now to see how much points I accumulated on it, but all my Facebook spend was just getting 1% instead of the advertised 3%. I called them up, and they told me that the bonus points only accumulate from US charges, and all my Facebook spend was getting charged by Facebook Ireland. Obviously I was pretty irate over this since I had no control over where Facebook charges me from.
Has anyone experienced this situation? Were you able to get the bonus points?
Thanks for posting this. I'm not using on fb right now but know plenty of people who are. Do they still have the spend $10k in 60 days and get bonus points promo?
If you missed out on that that's ridiculous and I would call back and try to push harder. You deserve those points.
I think it's like spend $3k or $5k in 90 days to get 50k points.
I've also read about other people using this card for Facebook, and even on AmEx's examples of sites for US advertising, they list Facebook as one of them.
I was not in US when I made these media buys from Facebook (Colombia, Japan, Spain), so maybe that is why the charges are being made from Ireland. But it's still bullshit. The chase ink card has no issues racking up the advertising point, but I've maxed that one out for the year.
