Hello,
Does anyone know of any cases of sites that have successfully recovered from the Google Medic update?
I have 2 sites in the health nice that saw traffic drop 10-fold and I'm wondering what I can do to revive them.
Here's a list of things I have compiled based on what I've read on various other places. I've actually implemented all of the below too:
- Removed rich snippet reviews so as not to make the sites look too "reviewy"
- Lessened the aggressiveness of the monetization. There's only one line now on each post as "Editor's Tip: After you've read <this_post>, have a look at XYZ to see why we recommend it"
- Put disclaimers on every page that this is subjective opinion based on author's own experience and does not constitute medical advice. Also placed disclaimer about receiving compensation on the 1 page that contains affiliate links.
- Added author images and author bios (but no links to author social media profiles as these are personas and pen-names ==> not sure if this is what makes or breaks it)
In addition:
- Some sites where the authors were either medical doctors or registered nurses (and I'm assuming with links to their linkedin or social media profiles) weren't harmed.
Based on the above, I've been thinking of hiring a doctor or nurse to co-author the articles and place their profile link on them. But that's another investment for over 400 content items and I'm already $20k in the red, so I'm hesitating a bit until there is more concrete evidence it might work.
Any other tips or word-of-mouth rumours?
Alex
Going to be honest, a lot of the things you did probably have nothing to do why you moved down. It almost always comes down to something related to links...
Do you want to share the name of the site and I'll take a look for you?
