Do you guys "develop" back-up offers? (10)

Do you guys "develop" back-up offers?

So Im thinking of doing some larger buys for a campaign that's doing well.

My only worry of course is if I lock this spot up for an extended period of time, that maybe the offer gets paused for some reason.

I've run $xx,xxx on this spot with this advertiser and so far so good, but again you never know.

Anyway my question is do you guys develop secondary offers in case your main offer goes down?

There is no shortage of offers in this GEO (it's a Tier 1), but obviously being on a street-payout or even the volume of traffic burst at once may be an issue with a new offer.

Or do you guys just cross your fingers and hope your main offer doesn't die out?

Don't cross fingers and don't hope in this business

Yeah, I would have more than 1 backup offer in place, which you tested as well.

The point is to minimize risks in any way you can.

Ask first the advertiser if traffic tht you are sending to the offer is good, or what the quality is. Did you tell him/her about what your plan is? Maybe they will bump payout if you tell them that you wanna increase the volume.

Whatever you do, don't lock the bigger deal with the traffic source without being 100% sure it's gonna work for YOU.... I should know this the best. Several mistakes from the past.

Also, always try to negotitate lower price with traffic source for the deal than what they initially offer you.....

Also, another idea: I don't know if you are buying from ad network or not.... In case you do, maybe try to find a publisher and contact them directly, and see what they can offer you. Doesn't hurt to ask.... Althought ad network wouldn't like this haha

This is quite hard to do these days, since we usually want just a particular GEO or target group ... and site owners want to sell it all, so usually they don't run adservers on their own ... but yes, doesnt hurt to ask

Yup, in case of flat/fixed buys, it's always a good idea to have a backup offer ... not saying I didn't do it without it, but got my fingers burned a couple times

Thanks for the advice guys.

It's not that there is a shortage of offers, there are plenty out there.

But usually you can't just swap offers and continue running on the profit train.

These days you need bumped payouts to beat the competition, and these only come really with consistent/significant volume.

So I was just curious if you guys take time to work on these secondary offers in case shit hits the fan with your main offer.

Yeah, totally agreed.... Rarely direct pubs want to geo target (also it IS possible to find those with adservers).

Bumped payouts most of time don't make a difference in performance, although some slight increases can help. Big payout bumps most of time result in worse CR or lead scrub rate higher.
Can't you direct 10% of your traffic for testing other offers? While you still 90% of the traffic direct to the current offer, you can test in meanwhile other offers without hurting your current income too much.

If your offer dies, you are days/weeks without any revenue while you could have tackled this by testing others already! Makes it easier to replace instantly!

I always have some offers in the back of my mind haha, nothing worse then flat fee'd traffic and no where for it to go.. even with FB these days we try limit editing ads in the accounts for longevity so dealing with quality issues, caps etc its always good to have something to plug in to catch the $'s going out

It can be hit or miss with the latter like you mentioned, but if you really do work on quality especially in the adult dating game it does make a difference some people getting 2-3x payouts and its how they smash it. We shifted focus on trying to drive higher quality traffic and its been rewarding so far, less hassle

Yes, you should always keep a back-up offer.
