So much information where to start??

Just signed up and not sure yet. The forum seems information packed but the dates look old for the guides. At the rate things change where should you start in 2018??
I started in squidoo with seo a few years ago and got to x,xxx a month then google happened and the sand box set in. I stopped affiliate marketing.
I'm back for a second shot. I have $2k start up and would like to eventually move to FB with Shopify. Where do I start learning to move in that direction??

Ahoy Nugs!

Good point man, the forum is so overwhelming upon first visits I bet, but you're here now so hopefully you can make some sense of it and steer a new direction in your life.

There is greater access to current up to date working campaigns plastered across spytools these days then ever before, and a lot of the same stuff still works for sure. Every single source except POF I know someone doing well with right now. Mostly though FB, Adwords, Native, Pop, SEO. Pillars for the AM community.

Is that a $2000 budget total? Well if thats the case I would say the testing curves of native might be a bit expensive, FB ecom could work for sure do you have a personal ad account you can use?

Spend the first few days just reading and summing up points, but try not to get shiny object syndrome. All the sources can work, but they won't work if you spend $300 here $400 there $250 there and you will crash and burn from being to overwhelmed.

Yes to start I have $2000. I have a face book account however have not set up a personal add account yet. I'm just in the research phase at the moment.
What spy tool is best for Facebook? I'm also a little confused on tracking tools do you use one with Facebook or does Facebook not allow them?

Try Adplexity (nice spy tool)!
And for tracking use Voluum (cloud hosted) or binom (self-hosted). facebook don't like redirects so you'd like to use direct pixel tracking in Voluum or other trackers.

YES! you can find anything related to AM in STM.

I'd also like to throw in Funnelflux into the mix as a tracking solution. It's also self-hosted, but they offer a managed solution where they'll take care of everything for you, which I recommend if you aren't familiar with tracking or aren't very technical. Anyway, all offer free or money-back trials so you can play around and see what works best for you.

FB does allow tracking tools, you just need to be careful. It also very much depends on what you'll be pushing ultimately. Don't get overwhelmed for the time being with too many things at once.

If you're planning on running just Shopify you don't need a tracker.

Adplexity eCommerce might be worth checking out - relatively new tool and has tons of data. https://ecommerce.adplexity.com/buy/

Do you want to run affiliate offers on FB or purely eCom/dropshipping?

I really like Magicadz tbh bit expensive if you starting out but you can get a trial for $1 I think its still there, helps a lot to get you out of the box we create as affiliates in our minds. You develop a certain approach to running campaigns that you always come in with that approach, but truly the campaign angles is limitless

I was looking at starting with affiliate to get my feet wet again then moving to eCom. I have a few products with angles in mind I believe I can scale big. My plan is learn the landscape and how to scale with affiliate then expand into ecom. What are your thoughts to that plan?

Just looked at Magicadz. They are still doing intro for $1. Thanks for the advice that will definitely help.

The knowledge you gain while playing with affiliate stuff can be of great use in ecom too, so the plan is solid. Just keep in mind that if you start pushing standard aff stuff on FB, you will get banned pretty quickly. Tracking, segmenting, the rules of optimization etc ... you can learn all that with pop traffic, or native if you have higher budget, or even with adult traffic ... the fundamentals are the same, whatever traffic type you decide to work with.
