Hello everyone!
I have just gotten started with affiliate marketing for real and I'm following Amys 40day Pop Tutorial. Right now I'm trying to set up tracking and all the programs you need in order to start running campaigns.
In the tutorial, you are supposed to add a custom domain to
Well, I'm using FunnelFlux (NOT self-hosted but managed) as my tracker, and the FunnelFlux team has set it up on my domain. So my question is: what happens if my domain (that the FunnelFlux dashboard is hosted on) gets blacklisted when I'm running campaigns? To me, that sounds like a huge problem. So my question is how do I solve this?
I know very little about domains and DNS (this has been the most difficult part for me to understand) but can't you create a CNAME and add some text before your domain (like this: test.MyDomain.com). So instead of MyDomain.com getting blacklisted (that FunnelFlux is running on), test.MyDomain.com gets blacklisted instead. And then I can just add a new CNAME (like testAgain.MyDomain.com). Have I understood this correctly, and if I have, how do I set this up?
Or do I maybe need to register another domain just for the tracking part? (so that I'm not using the same domain that FunnelFlux is on) If this is the case, how do I do this then?
Hi Alexander
I found two articles by the amusing @zeno
http://docs.funnelflux.com/technical-documentation/licensing/use-multiple-domains-using-cnames
http://docs.funnelflux.com/general-questions-and-guides/landers-and-offers/dynamic-landing-page-tracking-links-using-cnames-effectively
All this is done with CNAMES in your domain DNS.
But as you are just starting you can use your FunnelFlux hosted domain for tracking for now.
Hopefully, you will not be banned that fast and if it happens FunnelFlux will configure a new domain.
It may take more time understanding the cookies and the additional tracing then to wait for the new domain one day in the future.
Surely having a different tracking domain is the target and is recommended. But right now you need to get going running traffic.
