Good info, thanks!
Excellent stuff, thank you for the reference images!
Another great post from stickupkid! This tutorial is REALLY shaping up to be a useful contribution to the forum! Can't wait until you get to the lessons on actually launching a campaign.
One tip from me regarding images: It's common knowledge that ads that get high CTR will result in low CPC, but this is not ALWAYS a good thing.
High CTR is a good thing ONLY if you're getting a sufficiently-high conversion rate that results in profits.
I've recently learned this the hard way. Put up some ads with what I thought was a very eye-catching image. The CTR was so high that I was getting clicks for as low as 1/5th of a cent USD. I was over the moon and feeling smug.
...until many hundreds of dollars later, not even a single conversion.
Perplexed, I dug deeper into my stats. I was generating leads - and when I checked the opt-in rate, I found that it was EXTREMELY low.
Of the masses of people that had clicked on the ads, hardly anybody was opting in! They were probably clicking because they just thought the image was cute, or maybe was even expecting to see a cute video.
The worst thing was that because FB automatically allocated most of the traffic to ads that had high CTR, those ads zapped all my budget.
The major lesson-learned for me is to make sure the image is relevant to what I'm selling. CTR/CPC won't mean sh*t if people that are attracted by the image, aren't the same people that are interested in your offer.
Hope that helps someone avoid the mistake I made!
Amy
When talking about testing images (and video thumbnails) do you think is better to test them at a ads level or adsets level?
Thx for the great info.
In my experience images are in a lot of campaigns unused as an important part of the optimization.
In my experience in agencies there is also always the battle of the 'branding people' that wanna use the right picture, the right branding values, blablablabla... luckily this is not a real concern for affiliate people

Never think "Oh this one will not perform because it doesnt't appeal to me". YOU are not the target audience, so don't decide from your perspective when choosing images to test.
Ohh!! I really liked this man
