Hi, i have a question:
If i buy a domain with Ur 40 and Dr 38 (ahref metrics), 1k backlinks 500 Unique, and the 4% are by authority site.
And send a backlinks to my blog Google Will penalize me?
I ask because the domain was closed 7 years ago and the backlinks was linked in that period.
Thanks you in Advance for the answers.
There's a little trick I use and teach our students that I call "the penalty check". Get the domain hosted with a little unique content (I usually recommend 50+ words). Wait until it's indexing correctly and then do a search for domain com (so replace the period with a space).
If the domain is a more competitive keyword you can add in part of the title to help narrow the search.
But the idea behind this is that Google will not allow a site with a spam penalty to rank on the first 3 pages (as long as there's more than 30 results)...so if you are appearing on page 1 when doing this penalty check search the domain has no spam penalty, which is the biggest of penalties you need to worry about.
HA, I'm one of Greg's students! (you rock Greg, thank you)
Yeah, this method is GOLD. I use it to check health and power of all the domains I own and new content I publish. That first check is absolutely critical to making sure a link is going to be a positive.
Sometimes I add a "second check" with a type of money post where I'll push some content with optimized SEO factors and see where, or if it ranks for a more competitive keyword in the niche/ industry. The metrics are a great place to start sorting though. You can get pretty specific about the type of power and influence you push with a post aimed at actually ranking for a keyword that has some competition. This is mostly just a way to really, really really feel safe with pushing links, and it also give you something to rank for, which opens the floodgates to push, knowing your methods work.
