My Dating Adventure In Italy (10)

Hello everybody from Italy, this is a follow-along that I want to share with you after setting up some campaigns for testing purposes on exoclick; This time I am creating 2 campaigns(one for each major Mobile Operating System) targeting only the PREMIUM websites on exoclick.


Traffic Source: Exoclick

— Cost Model: Smart CPM

— Placement: Footer Native

— Mobile (2 different campaigns, one for iOS and another one for Android)

— Only Wifi

— Geo: Italy

— Smart CPM: 1€

— Budget: 50€/day (to start testing)


Creativity:

— 6 creatives that I saw were the best performing variations during my last campaigns

— 3 Landings obtained spying competitors, which I modified. Next step is to design new landings by myself.

— Payout: 2€

Goal: xxx/day profit in Italy

I have already spent 30 € and i have only 1 conversion. I stopped the PREMIUM campaign on exoclick. I have little budget to test all the sites of the traffic source, the quality of the sites, bots and so on ...

Now i have identified 3 good sites with organic visits on google italy, i do a restricted campaign on these sites.Only wifi, android, no carrier, native ad.What do you think?

Hello ardito, let me give you some advice :

This bid seems to high for Italy, why did you decide to go so high straight away?

This was a good idea, bids are usually different per OS, thought it's not so important with wifi traffic, still a good idea.

Should be enough for an offer with $2 payout.

Might be a bit to much for 50 per day budget, you have 18 combinations to test with this setup... maybe cur the LPs down to 2... 5 banners and I would rather test more than 1 offer. Topoffers is ok, but there still might be better offers out there.

Can you show us some stats? Banner stats from exo, and also LP CTR from Adsbridge ... so we can see whether it has some potential or not.

Focusing on IT sites with good SEO traffic is a good idea, in case you're sure it's that way. Wifi is fine for dating, but I wouldn't exclude 3G by default, maybe it's gonna work fine for you too ... you can always create a separate campaign for it, since the pricing will be different again. Native ... I prefer banners, native ads get miss-clicks a lot, but then again the CTR is higher, so it should even up.

Waiting for some stats, then we can move on with this

I decided to put 1€ for Smartcpm to be sure of being in the first position, considering that, as far as I know, setting Smartcpm means that I am probably not going to pay the maximum bid until someone else is bidding high enough (1.1€ or more) to win the competition. Am I right? Would you suggest to lower the bid or choosing the manual way?

I am not sure but it is the only way to avoid a RON/Premium campaign since the websites are a lot and I do not have enough budget to test all of them. There are also a lot of bad/garbage websites on the list.
I am also thinking of moving to Trafficjunky to perform a better test, using only one website or spot for example.
What do you think of doing it using something like Redtube/header mobile with a 100€/day budget?

Having some stats about the landings I cloaked them this way LP3 85% traffic, LP2 10%, LP1 5%.
That is because the LP3 has a CVR of 10% and a lower CTR, the LP1 has a low CVR with a high CTR instead. The LP2 is in between.
Right now I do not have the values here, but if needed I can post them later.

What is another good network?

Yup, that's how smartCPM works and stick with it for sure, just lower the bid. It's not a good idea to be the highest bidder with a new un-tested funnel.

Yes thats fine, no need to target to many sites at the beginning, if you know that they have some IT sites with solid SE traffic, target them for sure.

It's true that TrafficJunky is probably a better network for dating, but it's been quite competitive lately, bids are quite high. If you decide to test there, focus on pornhub instead, redtube has the highest bids, good traffic too, but harder to make it work. The 50 eur budget will be sufficient for initial tests, but again, do not aim to be the highest bidder.

You had nice CTR there so very cheap clicks, I would test it more to see how much lower I can get the price, by lowering the bid. It might still work out. You got a lot of clicks but only 1 lead, I think you need to improve the funnel further ... or you were buying bots. Show me some stats from Adsbridge too please.

Yup, need to see the numbers ... not sure why you would change the % though, you only have 1 lead right? That gives you literally NOTHING to base any decisions on.

Are you with some "typical" affiliate networks too? Advidi, clickdealer, gotzha ... ? All of them have plenty of dating offers.

No, I am basing this decision on some test campaigns I run before on exoclick on these quite same websites (almost 80 conversions). By the way, you are referring to a campaign with 1 lead that I paused, right now as you can see in the last image yesterday I had 8 conversions on the new campaign.

I could start with a single spot, right? What about the bid? Do I start with a lower bid to increase it over time?



Yes, I know them, but I decided to use TopOffers because of the higher payout, that they decided to increase for me to 3€ for some time due to my leads quality. Unfortunately later they decreased it to 2 considering all the tests I was doing...
I am almost sure they will increase it again if I bring them good leads

Ok, so the new campaign was doing better but still largely negative. Anyways, there isn't much reason for setting LP rotation like this, your goal is to pick the ones that are making you the beat ROI... and push just that 1 or 2, running a losing LP at a lower rotation isn't a good strategy. On top of that, with different weights, it's harder to really compare different LPs, since the traffic distributions isn't even and the data is skewed a bit, or a lot... For proper split testing, you should keep the distribution as even as possible.

Pick the one with the least competition and try to bid in such a way that you get like 10% of the rotation to start with ... will depend on how much the others are getting with their bids. Do not push it to high, try to stay in the middle if possible.

Higher payout often means lower conversions, while lower payouts can actually make you more money, due to higher CVR ... never pick offers based on their payouts. I mean ok, if the payout is really low then you can skip it, but in many cases, going for the higher payout is a mistake.
