What to do with bots you can't get rid of? (9)

What to do with bots you can't get rid of?

Say you're running on a traffic source paying by CPM, and it's profitable, but about 15% of the traffic is bots.

Now this traffic source has no ISP/IP blocking, so there's nothing you can do about it to filter it.

I guess you could redirect the traffic, but it's not like it would convert or anything, so it's seems pointless.

So my question is what do you do with this traffic? Just leave it in there?

Or can you resell it? Though I doubt anyone would want it because it's bot traffic? Lol

It's just more annoying than anything because it skews my stats, so just curious to what you guys do in a situation like this.

Here is just a random thought...But could you redirect it to a page where you have crypto mining software like coinhive implemented?

I mean if a bot is on a page for some time it could mine a bit maybe?

Apart from that I couldn't see any other use? Apart from sending it to a competitor to mess up his stats and server / tracker usage maybe?

I hear ya, but there really isn't much you can do with it. I hate it too, it makes optimization a pain, but that's how it is unfortunately.

You could filter this traffic and send it elsewhere, in case you know what IPs it's coming from for example, but trying to sell it would just put you in the same can with those who defraud us in the first place, so not sure if you want to take that route

In cases with very high bot traffic %, you might try to request a refund, but traffic sources usually act like they cant do much about it ... worth a shot if its a high amount, but I usually just take the loss and move on.

I don't think this would work, crypto mining requires heavy resources and high time-on-site values ... bots close sessions quickly and I'm not even sure it would be technically possible, probably not.

Does the source have per placement reporting that you can match up with your tracker? In other words can you verify that you're actually paying for bot traffic and not just getting bot hits?

Yes I'm only running this on a single high volume spot. However I dont think as Matuloo said I can do much, since Im paying via CPM and I feel like they will just shrug their shoulders when I ask them about it lol
