40-day challenge | 5th day - adplexity or adbeat ?
.
Hello everyone,
I have just started the newbie 40-day tutorial as well as a couple of others.
My goal is very simply, stick in here keep updating this newbie along post at least 3 months.
I have 10K for the initial start.
$1,000 monthly for traffic, $500 pay for tools, Voluum, adplexity, server, etc.
chat with Voluum's rep over skype as they still have $99 monthly plan but should pay 4 years contract
I am really looking forward to learning and putting everything that I have learned into practice.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, I'll have updates and questions to come!
My Journey
--------------
Day 1 Signed up with Mobidea, PropellerAds, domain and tracker purchased.
Day 2 Choose first offer, spreadsheet created, set up global postback
Day 3 launch first campaign in PropellerAds
Day 4 Get very first data, so many impressions but no click
Day 5 Set up hosting Amazon S3 and CDN on ns1.com, spy tools comparison
Day 6 I got 17 conversions today O(∩_∩)O~
Day 7 PropellerAds targeting problem
Day 8 VoluumPropeller tracking fixed
Day 9 Apply more networks Ripping landers Fix landers
Day 10 Send traffic to 3 landers under the first sweepstakes campaign

Day 4.
Hi everyone,
I'm back
It's very cool the offer has some segment data on offer details page in Mobidea. it shows what offers in what carrier with what OS, all those combine how many revenues all affiliates bring to Mobidea in last 7 days.
I set up my campaign targeting from the segment details.
My first campaign launched with a ready small budget (under $10 a day), my goal is to collect data at this stage, it's very important to have some data before start making the decision. It’s better to take the time to make sure everything works instead of losing dollars because the links weren’t properly set up.
mobidea

propellerads

Voluum

Things I got confused:
1. Half a day, I got some impressions with no click, am I set up the tracking links properly?
2. The impressions is not the same in mobidea,Voluum, and propellerads, anything wrong?
3. Should I promote more direct link offers?
Any help would be appreciated
.

Great start!
It's normal to not see any clicks - because you're direct-linking. Clicks will only register if you're using a landing page, and the visitor clicks on the outgoing link on the landing page to go to your offer.
Direct-linking is still the best exercise to start with when learning how to set up a campaign, but it's not very possible to make consistent profits anymore (the tutorial needs to be updated and soon!)
Now that you have experience setting up direct-linked campaigns, please move onto the lessons on landing pages as soon as possible.

Exactly what vortex said.
For mobile it's alot harder to make direct linking work. Actually for all offers i would say now or at least a good majority of them.
I can't wait for you to get adplexity mobile. First time i saw it it was like opening a gold chest. it was majestic.
Vortex and a few others have threads that go over how to download and fix up landers along with how to host them so don't worry about that...
All in all im liking the hustle and action taking keep it up!

I'm excited! ill just be here to bump the thread so the real successful marketers can chime in some ideas and tips for ya.
There are also plenty of videos on youtube on how to use adplexity.
Also you do know where to put the click URL right? You but it in the CTA button.
For weeks i was banging my head because i could not figure this out.
so here is what you do.
1) Download your lander.
2) Unzip the file
3) you need a HTML editor. I personally use Coffeecup but there are MANY others you can use that are great. This one is free for like 2 months then you have to pay.
4) go to your downlads and open up the landing page you just downloaded. your going to go to right click the one that says "HTML file" under "type" and has about 30 random letters and words. it may be more. It's going to look something like this "97204cde455c7262d091756f3fa191fe045c1d903"
5) Open this with your HTML editor and it will pop up and the first thing will come to your head is to X it out shut the laptop off and never get into AM again. Well if your that dumb as i am when it comes to coding you will freak.
Don't worry about most of it.
6) now press CTRL+f to open the find bar. Now type in "href" or "http"
Now your going to see code like href="css.3.css" rel="stylesheet"> or something of similarity. Leave these alone. To my very limited coding knowledge this is the nuh uh zone.
You only get down and dirty when you see "href="https://www.jeremiahandorisahustler.com/immastackdatmoney"
7) take out these links and replace them with your click url.
8) keep in mind there is usually more than 1-2 links you have to change. In mobile usually it was like 5 i had to switch out. In native theres like 30 links. God damn almost fell asleep doing that.
This stuff really messed me up in the beginning so i hope these help in any sort of way. Big or small.
Cannot wait for you to crush it!

First thing is, don't spam the same post in several unrelated threads.
Unluckily there is no simple "How to get it done" approach.
Read the different threads, when you have questions related to the thread post them.
When you have other questions open a new thread and ask detailed about what you need to know and you receive detailed answers.
With a general "what to do and how to get it done" questions you probably only get same general advices.
So to answer your question what to do and how to get it done:
Buy traffic, send it to CPA offers and track whats working and what not.
Promote what makes profit, don't promote what makes losses.

Day 5
- Set up the hosting and CDN
- read the success stories threads to get more motivation.
In order to move on landing page lessons as soon as possible, I jump to the tutorial day 21 setting up hosting and CDN, finished all the steps mentioned in this tutorial, compare 2 spy tools while waiting for up to 24 hours for DNS propagate.
So many threads highly recommended to everyone use adplexity, I'm comparing adplexity with adbeat by watching reviews on youtube.
Does anyone have experience with both tools? which did you like most and why?

Exactly what twinaxe said, there is no simple 'how to get it done', things are not simple when you get started it. Buy traffic
from somewhere to promote offers with networks just one option, there are so many things can do in affiliate marketing, difference traffic type pop, facebook, adwords, as well as native ads, or you can do dropshipping, read more threads as you can, choose a path, spend some time digging deeper.

I used both. I got the adbeat And i can tell you right now adplexity blows it out of the park and its cheaper. ALthough it was last year so i cannot say for any recent updates. I just got the cheapest package and like 90% of things were for "premium" only. Which was bs.
Also almost all the landers i saw were not affiliate landers. They were all big coperations. So i highly recommend adplexity more than adbeat.
That's just my 2 sense.

I've responded to your question in lesson 2 of the 40-day tutorial. Thanks for being a member and welcome to the forum!
But like twinaxe has pointed out: Please don't make the same post in multiple threads. It causes a lot of extra work for moderators like myself. And posting something irrelevant in another member's follow-along thread is not exactly fair to them either.

Day 6 17 conversions
Hi everyone,
Those days I'm running smartlink in direct link model while I'm learning the spy and landers.
so the smartlink I promoted worldwide at first, then narrow down the segment, remove the GEOs were no convert, set up the new campaigns with convert-well GEOs,
things I'm still confused,
- PropellerAds has sent 313,552 views today, but in mobidae received 223,540 views, why so many views lost?
- I have almost 17 conversions in mobidea, but in Voluum there is no conversions show up.
- in PropellerAds campaign report details section, what's the zone ID? is the publisher website ID? and also no any conversions show uo here, how to optimizate the campaigns without conversions data?
screenshots attached:
mobidea:

Propeller Ads:

Voluum, no convert tracked.

Thanks, all.

Update:
By using Mobidea tracker (postback set up has problem with volumm right now) I found a profit segment.
The campaign received 2433 views which is cost $0.25, bring back $0.38 revenue in network for 19 conversions.

Some difference is normal and with POP traffic it's usually even bigger. Asian GEOs are also very known for higher losses.
- I have almost 17 conversions in
Mobidea, but in
Voluum there is no conversions show up.
You have a problem with the postback setup most likely, make sure to fix it before running more traffic. It's pointless to run traffic without proper tracking.
in PropellerAds campaign report details section, what's the zone ID? is the publisher website ID? and also no any conversions show uo here, how to optimizate the campaigns without conversions data?
Yup, the zone ID is a unique ID of a publishers website or ad zone ... all the networks use a similar system ... in some cases, there can be several ad zones on the same website for example.
Without proper tracking, there is no optimization possible, fix that first.

Hi Matuloo, thanks for help. my account manager help me test the tracker, the link doesn't work properly today, am will ask tech guy fix it tomorrow.
Update:
Some new data before paused the traffic,
I have a tier 3 targeted campaign running on PropellerAds, in the targeting area, I put only one carrier in mobile ISP field. but now, more carriers traffic coming in, so what happened here? is that normal for pop?

the top carrier is profit one which I targeted in mobile ISP field in PropellerAds, others are red that I didn't include.
Thank you.

The problem here is that there is not a SINGLE authority DB for carrier detection. So while the traffic network can detect the visit as being on the carrier you are targeting, the tracker can think otherwise. The key here is that the difference shouldnt be to big.
Mobidea has solid DB, compiled from carriers and offer owners directly, mixed with data from other sources, so what they show is usually close to the truth. Some trackers have very good ones too,
Voluum for example uses digital element data, which is one of the best providers ...
Im not sure what I'm looking at in the screen, since you blurred out some data (why? afraid of getting a losing campaign stolen?) Are you saying that propeller itself is reporting visits from other than your selected GEOs? That shouldnt be the case, talk with your AM over there. Or is that a mobidea screenshot? But it still looks like an OS screen, not carriers.

Hi matuloo, thanks for your reply,
I have attached more screenshots for report details,
yesterday, the tracking link fixed. Voluum can track conversions, prepollerads can track conversions too,
This is mainstream smartlink from mobidea. it's not much profit but I can learn the tracking with those conversions.
In propeller ads the carrier I only targeted at ISP Robi, but still has other carriers traffic coming in.
Mobidea report:

propellerads zone id:

Voluum, some conversions lost because the tracking link doesn't work properly before fix.

propeller ads set up:

carrier targeting:

other carrier options:

four days report in mobidea

Finally, I have $3.3 revenue in my mobidea balance.
My goal is to reach $50 minimum payment.
Thanks.

Very good that you fixed the tracking Eric!
From the screenshots, it looks like you're targeting Robi properly.
Like Matuloo said, there are different IP databases for mobile carriers - and if propellerads and mobidea and Voluum are using different databases, then there WILL be discrepancies. But as long as they are not too big, you can ignore them - try to focus on the big picture.
Speaking of big picture: Although it's very exciting that you've found a small pocket of profit (congratulations!), be aware that Voluum WILL charge for overage if you exceed the number of impressions that are included in your plan. It looks like the little bit of profits you're making will not even be enough to pay for these charges.
If you wish to continue buying a ton of traffic, getting a self-hosted tracker would definitely be cheaper. If you're planning on continuing using voluum, then try to run offers that has better RPM (revenue per thousand impressions).
Did you subscribe to a spy tool for ripping landing pages? How is that going?

Glad to hear!
I've used Funnelflux, and have heard great feedback about Binom. Both are great choices.
Ready to take it to next step, as you said I'm looking for the offers in better RPM, I ripped so many landing pages in adplexity yesterday. (global stats has longest running, more publishers)
Will start with sweepstakes offers
- in tier 2-3 countries.
- win phones/gift cards.
- CPM 0.1 - 0.3
I should sign up 2-3 new networks besides
Mobidea.
- yeahmobi
- mobvista
Good plan!
Low-payout offers will allow you to learn pop traffic + campaign optimization for cheaper - because you can collect more data with less traffic and money.
And if you're wanting to apply to more networks, here's a tool that will allow you to do that - can save you some time:

Ripped a lot of landers in adplexity, the landers have received lots of traffic from many affiliates I guess those landers are "promise".
- win iphone (8,9,X)
- win local grocery store voucher
in multiple GEO
fix the landers while waiting application approved.

The title is -- s3.amazonaws.com how to delete this?
before 'user' here is blank, it should be cell phone brand parameter, how to edit it?

copy offer tracking URL from Mobidea offer details page, insert href URL in 'claim' button, it that right?

Good progress! But some feedback/corrections on the lander:
1)"The title is -- s3.amazonaws.com how to delete this?"
You'll need to show more of the lander - I can't see this part in the code you provided. Maybe paste the whole lander's code in pastebin and paste a link to that here.
2)"before 'user' here is blank, it should be cell phone brand parameter, how to edit it?"
I've never used bemob, but in Voluum, when you add the lander as a new lander, you need to insert the tokens at the end of your lander link, like this:

Note Voluum shows all the tokens that are available. In this case the phone model parameter is {model}, so I would attach that to the end of my lander url like this:
http://www.landerdomain.com/index.html?model={model}
Note that in this case, both the token and the name are the same (i.e. "model"). This is because in your lander code, it says this:
If your lander code had used something else - for example getURLParameter('model2') - then the lander url would need to be this:
http://www.landerdomain.com/index.html?model2={model}
You'll need to look through your entire lander to see which tokens you need to attach to the lander url, when adding it to the tracker. For example, if your lander is using the phone brand and model, plus the browser, like this:
Hello Samsung Galaxy 8 user! Your chrome browser is out of date!
And in your lander code you see the parameters 'model', 'browser' and 'brand', and if you're using Voluum, then you would add this lander url to Voluum:
http://www.landerdomain.com/index.html?model={model}&browser={browser}&brand={ brand}
Hope that makes sense! For more information, please see caurmen's comprehensive post:
https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...ing-Parameters
3)"copy offer tracking URL from mobidea offer details page, insert href URL in 'claim' button, it that right?"
No that's probably not the right way! Like I said, I've never used bemob, but if it's anything like Voluum (I heard the 2 are similar), then you would add the mobidea link to the tracker as a new offer, then insert a "click url" into the lander.
I found these instructions:
https://help.bemob.com/docs/click-ur...ffer-click-url
If still in doubt, please ask bemob support for clarification.
Another note: When adding the mobidea link to the tracker, you will probably need to add a tracking variable at the end of the link. Also, you'll need to set up a postback at Mobidea. I've described that in detail in the 40-day tutorial - please refer to that and ask any further questions you may have.
The first time is always the hardest - hang in there!
As for the "Your Connection is Not Private" problem:
https://support.turbotenant.com/hc/e...-What-do-I-do-
It doesn't sound like a domain ban to me - it sounds like a local issue (your browser). Please see if you can do some additional research online on this problem to fix it.
Hope that helps! Looking forward to seeing some stats soon!

It's a Win iphone 8 offer, GEO is tier 2 country SG, English landers.
The landers ripped from spy tool, which is received most traffic in past 7 days.
here are my steps on URLs set up in tracker.
1) Add traffic source to tracker,
- Copy propllerads postback URL insert in tracker, replace the aid tid
http://ad.propellerads.com/conversion.php?aid=193000&pid=&tid=42000&visitor_i d={externalid}
2) Copy postback URL from tracker, paste in network
- https://mytrackerdomain.com/click.php?cnv_id={{EXTERNAL_ID}}&payout={{MONEY}}
3) Set up an offer in tracker
- Copy offer link from network
https://www.rotatemyurls.com/offer/149000|15877?data1=Track1&data2=Track2&tag={Extern al_ID_from_traffic_source}&website={subID}&placeme nt={sub_subID}
- Edit link and insert in tracker offer URL
https://www.rotatemyurls.com/offer/149000|15877?clickid={clickid}&campaign={campaign} &trafficsource={trafficsource}&user_id={user_id }
4) Insert click URL in landers
- Copy click URL from Binom
https://mytrackerdomain.com/click.php?lp=1
- Insert this link to the 3 landers call to action button.
Upload landers to Amazon S3
5) Add 3 landers URL in tracker
6) Creat campaign under this offer. 3 landers are the same weight in random rotation.
-

7) Set up the campaign on PropellerAds
- Copy the campaign link from tracker, paster in propellerads.

I think I figure out the question why is the clicks received in network are very less than tracker report and propellerads sent.
Network clicks are the LP clicks when visitor click the call to action button.

the campaign running 3days so far.
3 landers.
The second lander almost 0 CTR, so I paused it from rotation list.
Iphone has 0 CTR, exclude IOS from traffic source.

How is the traffic distributed among placements? Based on what conditions are you cutting out non-performing placements?

Thanks, Amy, I'm so grateful.
I have fixed the code.
GREAT to hear!
I'm still confused about tracker, PropellerAds sent 1899 impressions, binom shows 1763 clicks, but
Mobidea only 125 visits. I guess the tracker is not working properly.
I don't used Binom, but the stats look right.
Propeller will almost always (if not always) show more impressions than your tracker - this is called clickloss and is normal.
I believe the "LP Clicks" in binom is the number of people that have clicked from a lander to an offer. This is the number you should be comparing to the visits in
Mobidea. The 2 numbers should be similar.
3) Set up an offer in tracker
- Copy offer link from network
https://www.rotatemyurls.com/offer/149000|15877?data1=Track1&data2=Track2&tag={Extern al_ID_from_traffic_source}&website={subID}&placeme nt={sub_subID}
- Edit link and insert in tracker offer URL
https://www.rotatemyurls.com/offer/149000|15877?clickid={clickid}&campaign={campaign} &trafficsource={trafficsource}&user_id={user_id }
I haven't run Mobidea's offers in a while - and I believe they've changed their tracking tokens at least once or twice since. But based on the offer link I just got from there, I believe this is the format:
https://www.rotatemyurls.com/offer/149000|15877?tag={clickid}&data1={campaign}&data2= {trafficsource}
Like I said, I've never used Binom. But the rest of your tracking looks correct!
You've run the campaign for 3 days and only spent less than $3? Am I reading the stats correctly? If so, that's too little traffic to conclude anything. What's the payout of the offer?
Also: Running a single offer isn't a good idea. Try to run at least 2-3 - ask for recommendations from more AMs on other networks. You can also go to Adplexity to see which networks has the same type of sweeps offers (i.e. for the same "prize") for SG, then apply to them.
When you run only 1 offer, if the offer is a bad one, you won't get any conversions. You need conversions to cut landers down to a winner. Running more offers will increase the chances of finding one that will give you conversions without losing too much money.

Thanks, Amy,
I fixed the click URL in Binom with their support help.
Also, I do the bot detect script before sending traffic.
why all the placements have high bot percentage

here is the steps how I add a bot script.
<script>
if (typeof(window.orientation)=="undefined")
{
var o = document.createElement("img");
o.src='http://tracker.net/click.php?event9=0';
}
else
{
var o = document.createElement("img");
o.src='http://tracker.net/click.php?event9=1';
}
</script>
add above script before body close tag.
Add a new formula in tracker setting,
100-event_9/clicks*100

Hi,
I am not sure if I am right but I think Mobidea is showing the actual clicks that this offer received from your landing pages, not the traffic directly from Propeller. 1763 is divided into 3 of these landers if I am not wrong it means
Propeller (1899) -> Binom(Landing pages) Total = 1763-> LP1:608, LP2:585, LP3:570 -> OFFER on Mobidea (115)

Hi rankmonk
thanks for your explain, you are right.
mobidea clicks = lender clicks count. are not equal impressions sent from traffic source.
for 3 landers I set them with normal rotation(random) in binom tracker.

I'm quite sure the bot test wasn't set up correctly - because propeller can't possibly have 97% bot traffic!
Since you're using
Binom: If I remember correctly, they have bot-testing functionality built-into the tracker. I've heard how great their support is - you may want to get their help to set this up.

First of all, I would suggest testing multiple AM-recommended offers with each batch of landers (e.g. 3 offers per geo). That way you have better chances of finding a good offer. Sign up to more aff networks if you need to if you can't find enough good offers (that are recommended by AMs as being good performers).
Also: Make SURE you spend time optimizing each lander, to make sure they 1)load fast, 2)function correctly, and 3)display well in major devices. LP CTRs for SG looks pretty low.
Also: Try to add maybe 2 more landers to the batch.
Moreover: You're bidding quite low - I'm suspecting you may be getting the worst traffic. Make sure you select Smart CPM and not Fixed CPM so you'll get at least SOME quality traffic from the better placements. I would even recommend bidding above $1 just to rule out traffic quality as the cause of the lack of conversions.
I understand you're wanting to limit the amount of budget you're spending to test each offer. That can be a good approach. But for the 3 offer, payout if $1.88 and you've only spent $4.49 across 3 landers - that's hardly enough. I would spend 10x payout to see if I could get a conversion - if not, I would throw it out. But see - this is why testing more than just one offer will help, because when you're testing just one offer and don't get conversions, you can't be sure if the offer is the problem or if the landers are the problem.
So, to summarize:
Test more landers and offers per geo. Make sure the offers are good performers (confirmed by your AM). Make sure the landers are optimized. Bid higher to guarantee traffic quality.
Basically you're wanting to make sure that the 3 components of a campaign, i.e. offers & landers & traffic, are all of good quality. This is especially important in the beginning, when you don't have ANY benchmark. Once you DO have a campaign that's getting conversions, you'll KNOW you have a decent offer+lander+traffic, and you can then test MORE offers+lander+traffic that you're LESS certain are good performers or not. But in the very beginning when you have no stats yet, you need to try to use the best of everything - the best offers (i.e. AM-recommended), the best landers (i.e. most-popular, and well-optimized), and the best traffic (i.e. as little bot traffic as possible, plus a not-too-low bid). Hope that makes sense!
And soon, you WILL find something promising!
so confused what's the feature phone? I'm not sure because they also have iOs or android OS
the traffic coming in to feature phone but nobody click
Feature phones are also called "dumb phones" (in other words, not smart phones).
This is why nobody is clicking - I don't think featured phones even have touch screens.
In PropellerAds, in the "OS" section, either "Exclude" Symbian and Blackberry, or "Include" IOS & Android & Windows Phone.

Hi, Amy, thanks for your suggestion, I have adjusted my plan.
3 GEOs I'll try are DE SG AU
All landers are ready. this time I'll try SmartCPM. I learned how smartCPM works from this post:
https://propellerads.com/blog/pay-le...rtcpm-bidding/
Today I have one offer statis from DE.

Is this just one offer?
It may be better to test several offers at once. Also, you may need to go through quite a few offers to find one that converts.
You've picked some pretty competitive tier 1 geos, so be prepared to invest money into "cracking" them.
Basically, you're needing to test lots of offers to find one that converts well enough to allow you to cut placements. Just finding such an offer may take up some cash. Then the cutting of placements will be where you'll need to fork out quite some money.
Good thing is that next time you run in the same geo on that traffic source, you won't need to start from scratch.
It would also be good to check Adplexity, to see whether there are good sweeps offers running in those countries at this moment. If right now, the best offers running in those countries is in another vertical, it may be worth it to test offers in those other verticals instead - starting with the specific offers you're seeing on adplexity.

Sorry for the late response - just got back from the China Tour and got all caught up on sleep.
Agree that the 2 DE offers need to be run some more.
NZ Offer 1 looks promising! I would wait until you find a winner lander out of the 2 being tested. Then maybe test another round of offers and then another round of landers, until you have an offer+lander combo that's making a large-enough portion of the traffic profitable, then cut the unprofitable portion.
Those SG camps are looking sort of bleak, but if the next couple of conversions end up coming from Lander 2, then you can cut down landers down to a winner. (Again: Then maybe test another round of offers and then another round of landers, until you have an offer+lander combo that's making a large-enough portion of the traffic profitable, then cut the unprofitable portion.)
It's been a few days. How DID those offers end up doing?
