Hey guys,
our e-com company is growing and now we have 3 media buyers working with us aaand I am starting to sense some tiny friction...
I want them to share their tests, LPs and know how's but I don't want them to start stepping on each others toes.
I am thinking about splitting them into three parts according to their experience
1. Native
2. FB
3. RTB/Direct buys
Do you think it's a good idea?
Please share you experience!
Thank you.
What's up madskills!
While I do not manage a media buying team, I can share some of the feedback I've gotten from my customers that do.
1. Separate either by who they buy from or who they sell to. Personally, I would advise the characteristic that most defines the differences between the three of them. If it's that each one only buys from their own specific list of traffic sources (and there is no overlap), then you have it easy. However, if there IS overlap, you can simply work with them to properly label their work in the shared sources (one for person A, one for person B, and so on). Same goes for who they are selling to - if they are overlapping offer networks, you'll want them to properly label their offers with a unique ID in the affiliate network titles, so that you can easily segment their reporting and compare results.
2. It's possible to run completely separate media buying actions in one shared admin installation on a tracking platform.
Did I mention you can also change their access permissions at will, so if you decide you'd like for them to view and analyze each other's structures and strategies at any point, they can do so under your supervision (without editing abilities - nifty, eh?). So long as you stay organized about this, and hold them to a high standard of organization, this will help you manage them more efficiently while also giving them the opportunity to compete on a level playing field.
You can do this on separate individual installations (one for each) but that requires more management and it's far more cumbersome to share work and resources/learn from each other.
Hope this helps!
Looks more like a pitch than a genuine reply but thank you.
