Hi!
I've ran my first native campaign - russian dating in tier 1 country on native with $8.25 in payout. This is a desktop offer only. I have currently spent $85 on MGID with $66 in conversions, so approx -22% in ROI. I started with 4 banners and 1 angle only. One of the pictures got 90% of the total impressions (and that one has all the conversions). I started with $0.1 CPC but only spent around $8-10 per day, but I was in slight profit. I decided to higher the CPC to 0.14 as it recommended (reach went from very low to low), and it spent around $30 in a day but around -35% in ROI. I switched back to 0.1 CPC and now it's barely getting impressions, even less than before.
Some numbers:
Best banner CTR: 0.07% (I've heard this is not too good?)
CTR from LP to offer: 22% (ripped lander with new pictures which a lot of people use, could be improved)
Best banner only: -9.5% ROI
I have done zero optimizations so far. No widget have spent the payout yet so I have not blacklisted any widget yet. No obvious bot-filled widgets found either. I wanted to add more banners but everytime I add a new teaser, their review staff completes the SOI form for the offer and it got me in trouble with my affiliate network until I explained the situation.
Now with all this, do you have any advice of how what I should do next? To get decent traffic it seems like I need 0.14 CPC or more, and the payout may be bit too low for native campaign in tier 1. I would say that the ROI is far from horrible so far, and I think I could atleast reach breakeven by testing more banners, further optimizing my LP and obviously try more angles (only tried 1!). But I am unsure of how far I could scale it. I've been thinking of moving to COD offers in tier 3 countries which have similiar payouts, but more available traffic and 2-3x cheaper CPC, but I would gladly hear any advice from the pros!
Thanks
Hey buddy, I'm no native expert so can't really tell you much about the banner metrics but your campaign definitely has potential ... they're not to bad results for your first attempt.
What I would suggest doing though moving forward is:
- Adding 2-3 more offers into a split test (PM your Affiliate managers and ask around, do some competitive research with a Russian IP to see what others might be running etc)
- Find 2 more landing pages to split test, what you might find useful is going and spying on the US market or another super competitive market and see which landers are running there then use Gengo or Fiverr (or whatever translation service you want) and get them morphed into Russian.
- Definitely build atleast another 10-15 more banners with varying templates and throw them into the mix.
- The widget results will come from testing more, you will see some that will stand out and then you will be in money making zone
I'm almost certain if you do this work you will break into profit.
Best of all, making dating work on native means massive scaling potential not just through Russia but every geo they offer best of luck dude!
Like maynzie said has some good potential.
keep in mind your only running 4 banners and only ONE angle.
you have so much room to test and improve!
all the best man
