Russia, Belarus, Ukraine for newbie landers (я говорю по-русски немного)

Hey all, I'm a recent graduate looking to learn new skills and make money outside my 9-5. I'm really digging this forum.

As per suggestions on the forum I'm jumping to the "building landers" section of the 40 day tutorial for newbies. I've already run some DL pop campaigns with no conversions by following the first few days of the guide. No conversions was expected from all the crazy competition I've been hearing/learning about in pops.

As per the title, would focusing on Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus for my first few landers be reasonable? I know they aren't the least competative tier.

I do have a competative advantage of studying Russian as a minor in college and spending a summer abroad there, though I've never written copy in Russian before. I don't consider myself fluent. I'm hoping to keep costs down by not needing a translator for my first few campaigns.

My focus would be on Russia first as I know not all Belarusians and Ukrainians speak Russian, and some Ukrainians might downright object to Russian copy given the current political events occurring between Russia and Ukraine. Thoughts?

Если ты хочешь говорить по-русски, давай!

Edit - I've also built simple websites in html, css, javascript/jquery before as a hobby so I have a little experience there.

You certainly have my blessing if you're familiar with the languages and want to give those geos a try!

I would suggest to do some research on adplexity mobile to find out what kinds of offers are doing the best in those geos, even include some of the same offers from the same affiliate networks.

With regards to costs though, keep in mind that you can rip landers that are already in the respective languages. And if you want to make that extra effort to ensure the translations are half decent, consider using google translate. Pop landers don't tend to have long copy. In the vast majority of cases, if you write the English equivalent in short sentences and run them through google translate, the resulting translations should be decent enough for an initial test.

Best of luck and please feel free to update this thread to keep us in the loop on the results!

Thanks, I buckled up and paid for Adplexity. I'm hoping to get profitable before spending a $1000 on all this software and traffic, but if I need to spend more, I guess I will.

Hi,
congrats with such an interesting choice of countries I want to share with you that Cis countries are very specific to work with, but at the same time very promissing - it is one of the rare markets where you can still run 1 click offers. First you need to know that you will not find majority of Russian traffic in international ad-networks, there are local ones where webmasters prefer to sell traffic to. Regarding landings - it depends a lot what type of offer you ll run. In some cases advertisers use their own pre-landers before their landers in order to increase cr, and in this case your additional prelander can drop your cr instead. Regarding language - yes, in your prelanders everything should be in Russian. In case of BY - people dont really use belarus languge, so you can use russian as well. In UA - depends which part of Ukraine you are targeting - in the west will be maily UA, in the east RU, however both parts understand both languages, so you can do a split test with your traffic and check with language works better for you.
I was wondering which offers you are trying in Russia?
We are content provider in Cis countries and have our own mobile 1 click cpa offers. If you want, we can speak and show what we have, can give you suggestions on landings and traffic sources and obviously мы хотим говорить по-русски

Cheers,
Yours,
Lady Goose
